I feel your pain. Trust me.
In fact, I suspect there’s more than just a passing resemblance with our respective reputations with the conservative new media — and I further suspect that the cast of characters who engage in whispering campaigns has remained largely consistent over time.
Just a hunch I have, mind you. I haven’t taken a reader poll to confirm. But I thought you should know that you aren’t alone out here in the wilderness, nor are you alone in your feelings of just how you’ve wound up where you believe yourself to be.
I cannot even believe that was taken as anything other than a mild joke. Jeez, you would have thought Stacy made a joke about putting an aspirin between your knees as a form of contraception…
What is “thighgate”? I don’t have a clue what he is blathering about. Plus: TL:DR.
(How did Satch do at the tourny, Jeff?)
For the AD/HD (as bullshit a diagnosis as there ever was):
leigh, RSM got on Tina Korbe for showing a lot of thigh during an interview with Rick Santorum after Korbe excoriated women at CPAC for wearing skirts that were very short.
RSM found the lack of self awareness to be somewhat astounding.
Thanks, Blake. I would have to agree that Ms. Korbe was being rather a twit about the chicks at CPAC.
somehow I missed the whole “thighgate” thing, but in reading RSM’s piece (and some of assorted links) I realized there was a lot of inside baseball stuff that explains why Ms. Korbe, a sometimes decent writer but not the best writer at HA is on the front page.
Don’t give us that excuse, Darleen. Ernst says we have ADHD. ;)
I watched the Watergate complex rise as it was built and recall marveling at how ugly the damned thing is. Thighs aren’t usually ugly. What’s the beef?
Well, I did forget the “challenged” in my parenthetical editorializing,
so what does that say about me?
Other than I cordially despise the whole TL:DR thing.
The Watergate is supremely ugly, sdferr. Now, PPG Place in downtown Pittsburgh? Supremely beautiful, like a fantasy land made of glass.
Are you saying that this Korbe has ugly thighs, or are you saying that it’s ugly to argue about thighs on display?
Neither?
I’m just pissing on the commonplace attachment of “gate” to too many a silly controversy that happens to come along. And pointing to the ugliness of both the place Watergate and the crimes associated with the name Watergate simply serves as an entry to the bitching. But, in general, I just don’t happen to think ugly when I think thighs — hence, think thighs don’t deserve the association with either the place or the crimes (leaving aside that I know nothing of a Tina Korbe, one way or the other, nor particularly care to).
I’m struggling to adequately express my thoughts on this, all that comes to mind is F^ck them.Seems strangely appropriate though.
Compared to how the left handles bloggers they disagree with the right is pretty gentle.
Jeff – its like you guys who are honest and open are ALL anathma to the Establishment. You should form a League of Pissed Off Truth Tellers or maybe a Loose Cannon Club. God knows we need more o’ ye.
Geoffb – that is stunning. How could anyone think that is not incitement to murder at the worst, invitation to harrassment at the least.
gregva – I know what you mean. I struggle to remain civil when confronted with rubbish like what Jeff and Stacy have to put up with. I just want to extend a middle finger at the whole lot of “good men”.
Indeed, guys like Jeff and Stacy are worth a hundred Eds and Allahs. I’ll admit, I read Hot Air every day, but only for the news round-up. For thoughtful analysis, Jeff and Stacy are my go-to guys.
