Why, yes, yes he is. But only for those already being backed by government sponsored entities. The rest of you can pound sand.
You see, it’s all about how you manage big government. And the ability to manage big government only comes if you can get elected. Which only happens if you pander, and promise to govern like a Democrat — albeit a more responsible, more thrifty Democrat.
That’s the new, more palatable and less “divisive” and “ideological” frame for “conservatism.” Right?
And a less divisive and ideological conservative like Mitt Romney realizes that, regardless of what you say when you’re trying to win over the Hobbits in your base, you can’t take away that that’s been promised — at least, not in its entirety.
Conservatism as pragmatism.
Up is down. Black is white. Bullwinkle is Rocky’s antlered bitch.
I feel really good about our chances for the future. Mittens will save us, I just know it.
Why do I get the feeling all of Romney’s supporters are tied together in pairs, and the string run up one of Romney’s sleeves and down the other?
You know, I’m tired of the rest of us footing the bill for a percentage of the public’s extravagence…
By and large, the people that are “underwater and in trouble”, are folks that regarded their house as an investment, rather than being essentially another savings acount-that in most cases hedges against inflation.
This plan is unnecessary; if folks are making their payments, then they’re living by the contractual agreement they made. And if they were gullible enough top believe a real estate agent or mortgage broker who told them not to worry about overbuying; that they could easily sell for a profit/refi-via-liar-loan ad infinatum? Well, they’re just as stupid as the Wall street wizards of smart a Lehman who had 70% of their portfolio in sub-prime paper and derivatives.
When you make bad investments, and the deal heads south, then you took the risk-you pay the piper.
This is unnecessary, and so is Romney…
I thought Gingrich was teh Freddie Mac whore it looks like Romney’s shimmied out of his happy pants and kicked those catalog model legs up in the air
The other thing is Romney isn’t even trying to win over the base. He’s trying to neutralize and depress the base by muddying up the other contenders for the nomination.
We’re all squishes and sell outs and psuedo-conservative establishmentarians. But I, Mitt Romney am the authentic sell-out squish elitist so vote for me because I can win!
Yeah. Right.
That Gary Johnson guy had a pretty good response to the State of the Union repeat the other night.
Somebody should remind Mittenz that setting up a precedent for bailing out people caught holding the bag after a bubble pops is going to make things really tricky when the retirement/medical entitlements go belly-up. Maybe it’s better to establish a precedent whereby people are responsible for their own actions, and look for help outside the FedGov.
Of course, balanced against the prospect of Mittenz Inc. having the power to decide who lives and who dies, it’s obvious that my proposal will go nowhere.
Free market? Let’s have the government intervene just a little bit to right a wrong. Just like it did with the Community Reinvestment Act, Fannie, Freddie, etc. What could possibly go wrong?
Ah, yes. Idiot mittens.
So, do we vote for the shit sandwich or the vomit soup to run against hot flaming death?
In other news, Newtie goes all pander bear and steps on a rake:
So, the unprincipled whore or the unprincipled John? Decisions, decisions.
We’re re-learning the meaning of the war of all against all, and too, the meaning of taking one’s bearings from the extremes. This, I think, will lead to nothing good. But then, nothing good is what we’re due.
self-deporting makes you go blind
I always thought there was something wrong about the relationship between Rocky and Bullwinkle.
Politician 1: Darn it, that government policy just didn’t get the job done. I wonder what we can do to take care of the problem?
Politician 2: Obviously, the problem just won’t solve itself and, as representatives of a responsible and caring government, it is our duty to come up with a workable government solution.
Politician 3: Hear hear!! Yes, we can’t just let this policy go, government must do something to alleviate the problem!!
Politician 4: Hey, I know, our policy just wasn’t big enough, nor was the power contained in the policy broad enough. We just need more of the policy and it’ll work fantastic!!
Politician 1 through 3: Wow, brilliant Politician 4!! Why didn’t we think of that?
Politician 5 (TEA party representative): Umm, guys, perhaps we need to just eliminate the policy? After all, it appears the policy created more problems than it solved.
Politicians 1 through 4: BURN THE HERETIC!!!!!
Happy, how about they walk south only until they need glasses?
I’m thinking that we say that Fannie and Freddie possess Weapons of Mass Destitution and bomb them to rubble. Better yet — say that Fannie and Freddie are WMDs, and bomb Washington to rubble for possessing them!
Obama is making his own moves here.
Now all the news stories tout NY AG Schneiderman as the head of this unit however that is not true.
Tony West, brother-in-law to California Attorney General Kamala Harris whose run for AG was fought by the now deceased Kam Kuwata.
I will gladly refinance their mortgages. Send them to me, I’ll refi for 3.3% with 3 points and 3% closing (taxes, title search and processing extra). Come one, come all! I have just as much money as the government will loan me.

He’s like Jack Kennedy that Romney, him and his Bain whiz kids will
teach the Army how to fight and win a land war in Southeast Asia without a full national commitment to victorymore effectively implement the welfare state.Romney for President: I WON’T ROCK THE BOAT!
Cripes.
He’s not even saying he’ll change course, dicentra, never mind rocking the boat. You’ve got Norm “Staunch Conservative (for Minnesota)” Coleman saying there’s no way we’ll ever repeal Obama/RomneyCare and Romney tut-tutting over how “easy” it is to attack the press.
You mean Norm Coleman, former Democratic mayor of Saint Paul? He’s staunch like happyfeet.
