Decline and fall, America. Decline and fall.

More like fallen, I think. Yet, I’m sure we can go lower.

  2. bergerbilder says:

Please excuse my ignorance, but I thought that only the president could order that flags be flown at half mast.

  3. leigh says:

    That’s what I thought.

  4. philboyd studge says:

Nothing Portland does surprises me anymore. If you want to see where America is headed, just spend some time in Portland.

Nice place to visit and all that…

  5. leigh says:

I knew I guy who went to college there. He said it was the only time he ever wore out a raincoat.

  6. happyfeet says:

the fascist douche what instigated the stupid half-mast-flags-for-gang-bangers policy also offers us this pelosi-esque gem

City Commissioner Dan Saltzman recently said that he wants to stop people from cutting down trees, even their own, stating that “trees have rights.”

  7. sdferr says:

Looks like it’s City Commissioner Dan Saltzman who needs cutting down. I’ll bet he’ll claim he has rights too, like the right to enslave anybody he chooses.

Nope, just on federal property, though everyone else usually complies. Governors, Mayors, etc. can order it in their domains.

  9. sdferr says:

    Decline looks like this too:

Menendez was right to be angry about being snookered into watering down his amendment. The waivers in the bill will give Obama the power to render the intent of Congress null and void. If it passes, and it surely will, as 80 of the Senate’s 100 members are co-sponsors, Obama can simply announce he’s decided the sanction will hurt the economy and use the waiver. Had Menendez rebuffed Obama’s pressure to include the waivers, the bill would have had to be enforced. The stated opposition of the State and Treasury Departments is a certain indicator that once it goes into law, the president will use the waivers to shelve it.

    […]

The president’s refusal to pull the trigger on this vital sanction gives the lie to his many promises that he will never allow Iran to go nuclear. Menendez, a reliably liberal member of the Democratic caucus, now understands he was double-crossed by an administration that never had any interest in cutting off Iran’s oil income. The question for the rest of the Democratic Party, especially Obama’s Jewish defenders, is when they will wake up and demand the president start acting as if his vows on Iran are more than white lies employed to win their support.

  10. leigh says:

So, will Obama force the issue to a crisis?

  11. sdferr says:

Judging solely from his behavior, at this point I’d have to say that from Obama’s point of view, the sooner Iran has nuclear weapons, the better, if only because he can then cease to have to think about it — and maybe get in a few more rounds of golf.

  12. leigh says:

He can’t be bothered to tax himself with leading this silly country, eh? The man’s earned his leisure time.

  13. sdferr says:

He has earned something alright. I wouldn’t call it leisure time though. Peaceful rest, maybe, in Latin.

  14. leigh says:

    Amen.

Didn’t SCOAMF just say he was Isreal’s greatest supporter in like forever? I’m sure his Jewish supporters are sure it’s true. Will to Believe and all that.

  16. bergerbilder says:

We can only hope that commissioner Saltzman has already been “pruned”, for Darwinism’s sake, IYKWIMAITTYD.

  17. alppuccino says:

As sdferr mentioned, Obama is addicted to golf.

Think of golf as vodka. He is just filling time between ’rounds’.

Obama does not do the job. He skates through between tee times, and how dare you think otherwise about a half-black “man”.

    None of this is facetious.

  18. LTC John says:

Excellent – honor the Sureno, not the Soldier. Speaks volumes of Portland, it does.

  19. Crawford says:

Meh. A douchebag politician in a city of douchebags decides to “honor” a thug. The mass of the rest of the country would gleefully see the thug waving from the flag pole.

The problem is we’ve been largely conditioned to not even get angry at this crap. The press stifles it, heaps abuse on those who get upset, and ensures it’s a “non-issue” when the douchebag politician comes up for re-election. See Frank, Barney, and his Gayest Little Whorehouse in DC.

  20. sdferr says:

The pivot crucial to Obama’s position opposing serious sanctions against Iran does boil down to more golf alright, but with the proviso that the golf takes place in Obama’s second term in office. He’s worried about his reelection. He knows that serious sanctions can cause the price of crude oil to rise, and if the price of crude, then the price of gasoline in the US, and if the price of gasoline, then heightening opposition to his reelection.

So, sanctions that seriously bite Iran? Right out, cause Barry needs the job. And you need to be under his boot. The Israelis and the Arab States of the Persian Gulf can go hang themselves: they’re not Barry’s lookout. Barry, and Barry alone, is Barry’s lookout.

    Fore! Playing through!

No surprise really that Portland Mayor, Sam Adams, has a special “thing” for kids:
