Expected lies, mis-directions, and unintended truths from tonight’s speech [guest post by motionview]

Ace via Daily Caller has the punch lies from tonight’s speech. Comments in italics.

based on bi-partisan ideas; LIE. Based on Establishment ideas, the Establishment is trans-party, not bi-partisan.

it is fully paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes LIE: They are increasing revenues to spend more, and they may or may not raise enough to cover what they spend.

and asking the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share; LIE: The Wealthiest Americans already pay more than their fair share. The lowest 49% of income earners pay no federal taxes at all. The lowest 20% get money back if they have kids. The highest 10% of income earners pay 70% of federal taxes.

it will have an impact on job and economic growth NOW. UNINTENDED TRUTH: Passing this package will demonstrate our continued inability to face hard truths; it will immediately reduce confidence that we will come to our senses and run our finances like adults. The impact would be negative.

just as soon as Congress acts. MISDIRECTION: We are in this recession because of how the progressives have acted, not how the House is trying to stop them. This is Obama the Progressive’s recession, not the House.

Every day, people in this country are working hard to meet their responsibilities. The question now is whether Washington will meet theirs. MISDIRECTION: Trying to set himself up as an outsider, when he and his socialist allies ran everything for two years and still control 2/3 of the government.

The time for obstruction and gridlock is over. LIE: When the socialists are making things worse, the time for obstruction is now.

Congress needs to put country ahead of politics. MISDIRECTION: President Obama needs to put country ahead of his extremist left-wing ideology, and the Democratic party needs to put the whole country ahead of unions. They all need to put our children ahead of their careers.

The American people know that the economic crisis and the deep recession weren’t created overnight DECEPTIVE TRUTH: The Progressives have been chipping away at us incrementally for 50 years+.

and won’t be solved overnight. LIE: When we take the House, Senate and WH on Nov 6, 2012, the boom will be on. Overnight.

The economic security of the American middle class has been under attack for decades. MISDIRECTION: By the progs.

  1. serr8d says:

Al Sharpton just asked if there were enough Labor and Civil Rights groups on the ground to recall Republicans who oppose BHO. I’m leaving MSNBC now.

  2. Dave in SoCal says:

First Boehner tells Obama “Nope, so sorry” to Obama’s demand request to speak at the same time as the GOP debate.

Next, Boehner and Cantor pass on the opportunity to rebut Obama’s speech, effectively saying there’s no “there” to rebut.

Now, the next chess move is made:

Boehner’s office announces that a dozen job creators will join him tonight in the Speaker’s Box

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today announced he will host more than a dozen private-sector job creators in the House gallery during President Obama’s address to a Joint Session of Congress tonight. Chief Deputy Whip Peter Roskam (R-IL) recruited these job creators as part of Republicans’ effort to reach out to American employers being hampered by excessive regulations from Washington.

    Orangeman, you magnificent bastard.

  3. Dave in SoCal says:

If you’re masochistic enough to watch President Ineffectual’s speech tonight, here is a handy scorecard to refer to when he starts blathering about “Congress not doing their part”, “Republicans putting party before country” and “Republicans holding American jobs hostage” or similar lies.

I propose reforming the tax code to make it so that fat cats don’t get special treatment. To do that, I propose a bunch of new specialized additions to the tax code.

Wealthy companies need to give me their money, so that I can decide who gets it. That’s not political grandstanding or class warfare. That’s simple math.

PASS IT. PASS IT PASS IT PASS IT PASS IT PASS.

    Seth

    Did I miss anything?

When Barry said “pass this bill RIGHT NOW” he never ever said “please”

  48. Seth says:

Ah, yes. But at one point he was damn near pleading.

    Very presidential, that.

  49. iron308 says:

LIE: When we take the House, Senate and WH on Nov 6, 2012, the boom will be on. Overnight.

The economy will begin rebounding as soon as Americans are confident that Barry is not going to be re-elected and that the winning side will start lifting the crushing boot of our federal family off the economy’s neck, once elected.

So the rebound will likely happen many months prior…only to stall if the RINO’s control things after. Invest accordingly.

  50. McGehee says:

If I watched the speech I would have run out of beer before the end of the sergeant-at-arms’ announcement.

I probably should have more than three bottles for such things.

  51. motionview says:

Agreed Iron. No power for hours here in South OC, missed the speech. Had a colonic as a substitute.
