Obama's belated moves prove that he CARES!

Announcements that “common sense” deregulation will be coming (though libertarian paternalism will of course remain); that the Fairness Doctrine is dead (though its aims will resurface under new labels in new legislation); and now, that a pipeline his regulatory agencies and the State Department have been blocking suddenly is being given the go ahead (note: unions were pressing for this, in a battle between Obama’s union cronies and his environmental Marxist cronies), with the result being the creation of 20,000 jobs at a time when Obama needs the employment numbers to begin moving his way.

Why, a cynical person might suggest that the President was sitting on some of this stuff so he could use these moves as political tools in the run-up to the 2012 elections — and in so doing create a false sense of forward momentum by holding back on doing the right things for the economy until he himself found those moves most politically expedient.

Good thing I’m not a cynic. It would be awful going through life believing that this man isn’t the Good Man we were told he was. And besides, Jeb Bush reminded me that we can’t question his motives, and that it’s unhelpful to suggest that he’s anything other than a remarkable patriot who is just trying to do what is best by the Constitution.

Whereas — as GOP Presidential candidate John Huntsman pointed out — we TEA Party supporters are dirty fringe extremists who, if we could have pulled it off, would have let the country default.

May we all go straight to hell.

    Aren’t we?

  2. happyfeet says:

why would we let incompetent fat-ass piggy piggy union whores anywhere near an important project like this?

  3. serr8d says:

“I think you’re looking at a situation where the unions want work,” she replied. “You’ve got 20,000 potential jobs there. You’ve got workers that are standing there – they’re ready, they’re already contracted and ready for work. So what you’re hearing from the unions is encouragement.”

If they are already contracted, then they aren’t really unemployed, are they? Seems this project won’t take on ‘real’ unemployed persons who are not currently under contract to left-union interests.

At least it pisses off the Gorebage crowd.

Let’s see ’em advance the fracturing work. We have substantial natural gas resources, just need the go-ahead to get it.

Because caring isn’t defined by anticipation of predictable troubles but in waiting to act until those troubles become insurmountable, whereupon the true carer lifts his chin, condescendingly looks down his nose and hands his slave a moldy crust of bread. “You’re welcome,” says he, “now praise me.”

  6. Carin says:

He cares, that’s for sure. He cares about all the perks, and AF1 and those wonderful vacation he and Michelle are able to take. Hob-nobbing with rich and famous so they can talk about how to help all us folks who weren’t smart enough to go to Harvard.

    WSJ this morning:

The president who first inspired with great speeches on red and blue America now seems to lack the ability to communicate any sense of resolve for a program, or any realization of the urgency of what might befall us. The teleprompter he almost always uses symbolizes and compounds his emotional distance from his audience.

We lack a coherent and muscular economic strategy, as Mr. Obama and his staff seem almost completely focused on his re-election. He should be spending most of his time on the nitty-gritty of the job instead of on fund raisers, bus tours and visits to diners, which essentially are in service of his political interests. Increasingly his solutions seem to boil down to Vote for Me.

  7. cranky-d says:

What? You mean Teh Won seems to lack the ability to be a strong leader? Who would have thought that, given his background?

    Unexpected.

  8. Ernst Schreiber says:

What the WSJ fails to note is that, having run as a secular messiah, voting for him was always the only solution offered.

  9. Carin says:

Only the racist would have thought that. duh

I have no idea why anyone (including Obama supporters or Obama himself) would be remotely surprised at his actions.

God damn those Christians too, man.

  12. zino3 says:

Yes. I am a dirty “fringeman”.

When I listen to Maxine Waters, I am ready to puke all over myself. Besides Biden, she is one of the most vile, repulsive, and stupidest people who have ever walked the Earth. She’s a CONGRESSCRITTER? What a joke. What a tribute to intelligence this little Marxist snake is!

And what upsets me, is that I am ashamed to even say that. She is Afro-American, after all, and therefore, off limits.

But a piece of dung is a piece of dung, ain’t it?

  13. McGehee says:

Of course Obama cares about jobs.

    […]

Well okay — job. He cares about keeping the one he’s got.

  14. Dave in SoCal says:

In response to the latest attempt from the White House spokesholes to convince the gullible that Obama’s post-vacation speech is going to be, like, awesome and will be just chock full o’ totally new ideas to turn this crisis around, I really enjoyed the tweet from Brendan Buck, John Boehner’s press secretary

We really don’t need another speech – just a plan, like, on paper. Seriously, just drop it in the mail. Podium not required. Thanks.

In answer to the unasked question: Yes, they really do think you’re that stupid. Really.

Nice to see Keller being taken to the woodshed in his own comments section.

  17. serr8d says:

Geoffb @11, Keller can’t be serious. After BHO’s exposure to years of Black Liberation Theology, and the influence of @JeremiahWright, how can any LeftLibProgg denounce any religion without feeling a twist of irony ?

  18. sdferr says:

without feeling a twist of irony

Oh shit, that’s an easy one. Human beings have to be intelligent to work with irony. No brains, no twist. Q.E.D.

“…a battle between Obama’s union cronies and his environmental Marxist cronies.”

The union ones give more money, and have a larger numbers of voters, yes?

But you are correcct that this will all be used to say “see, things are finally coming together!!” Of course, small ripples like this are getting tsumani’d by his other job-killing policies, regualtions and such. So it will be dutifully reported by the MSM, but will be followed by further dismal jobs reports, etc.
