June 2009, annotated

Obama: “I have always been a strong believer in the power of the free market. I believe that our role is not to disparage wealth, but to expand its reach; not to stifle the market, but to strengthen its ability to unleash the creativity and innovation that still make this nation the envy of the world.”

[ — “Unless the reach of non-disparaged wealth leads to fat cat business tycoons in their corporate jets, or dudes with spats lobster lunching on their shiny yachts, I mean. Those motherfuckers need to pay!”]

I see serious parallels between Cisco and the United States. Just as a great company can flounder aimlessly until it’s no longer great, a nation, even the best in the history of mankind, can do the same. In May, Cisco said it would lay off 4% or 4,000 of its 73,000 workers in order to save $1.0 billion, a move that would have been a major leap from its previous record round of 2,000 layoffs in 2002. Sure, the move is probably warranted now, but it’s the consequence of failed management. At some point, if things don’t change dramatically, the U.S. will have to face the music and it’s going to be worse than the direst of predictions.*

Really, Barry? I don’t suppose you wrote any papers in college to that effect. Prove me wrong!

Speaking of Obama’s lies: Book Challenges Obama on Mother’s Deathbed Fight

On Wednesday, in response to repeated requests for comment that The Times first made in mid-June, shortly after the book’s release, a White House spokesman chose not to dispute either Ms. Scott’s account or Mr. Obama’s memory, while arguing that Mr. Obama’s broader point remained salient.

Jeff, Obama also said: “hundreds of thousands of dollars that I don’t need.” http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/271594/obama-s-excess-income-mona-charen

Of course the real wealthy are making most of their money in the form of capital gains. So their taxes, for the most part, do not get increased under Obama’s proposal. Obama wants to get those fat cats who own a business and make just north of $250K (or less depending on the need). Of course most of them do not have hundreds of thousands of dollars that they do not need.

But of course Obama knows this. He is not stupid (yes Michael Medved I am speaking to you). He is out to radically change this country.

Obama is not stupid. He knows what he is doing. He is out to hurt this country (or rather “save” it, like Mao wanted to save China). Is that rhetoric too excessive? Well, there is no cultural revolution happening, but Obama does want to radically change how government operates. It is just a matter of degree.

I would like to see if the EPA Administrator could read that whole quote without bursting into maniacal laughter. $5 says no way.
