For what it’s worth: Major General Paul Vallely makes extraordinary claim that every former CIA agent he’s had look at the Obama long-form birth certificate has declared it a forgery.
Me, I’m dubious. Releasing a forgery easily identified as such would indicate the President has nothing but enormous contempt for the country and it’s people, and would illustrate an arrogance unheard of in a US President.
Ahem.
Of course, Obama’s been passing himself off as a black dude all his life, so I suppose he has a history of identity finessing… At any rate, use your own best judgment. Not that it matters any way at this point. No matter what Obama’s situation, the real value of this story is that we’ve illustrated, with crystal clarity, that the mainstream US press will actively shield a progressive president and work tirelessly to tear down opponents and potential opponents. We’ve learned that they believe merely reporting the news is beneath them — that their job is to advocate for policies and candidates by framing narratives and shaping news stories to speak to their own agendas.
There’s the revelation.

I seen the bright get duller I’m not gonna spend my life being a color!
Maybe someone hacked Obama’s birth record account?
I never had any doubt whatsoever that Obama was born in Hawaii. My doubts are whether he considers himself an “American”…
I mean, do YOU believe him when he says “My fellow Americans…”? Or do you think that he is somehow, by implication, excluding you, your entire family, and everyone you have ever known, in favor of his allies and cronies?
Jeff,
It’s the old look bunnies tactic. Could be that they offered what appears to be a forgery to keep the story running and potentially embarras anyone that bites on it.
There are many questions to be answered.
I take no position here, but who could be surprised if Obama was actually lying? Hmmm. Why does he have a CT SS #?
This man is pure evil.
Dan Rather.
I am taking a shot in the dark here, but:

I love this woman, but probably would not be excited to wake up next to her.
zino, I love her too, but her go-to guy on this is not a forensic expert by any stretch of the imagination. To build a proper case, one would have to compare “originals” reprinted on the same day from their negative micro-fiche files onto the new safety paper. One would have to compare records that were requested on the same day in modern time and compare contemporaneous records typed up back in the Stone Age when O was hatched.
That his BC is “official” moves me not, however.
My problem is that only one person on the planet is allowed to see the original microfiched BC. If O’s “requested re-print” is deemed “official” then we are taking an official’s word for it. Back to square one. Can we compare the “official” modern reprint with the microfiche, please? Until then, all the pixel counting in the world wouldn’t sway me for or against. And like Dan Rather, if folks try to project backwards onto anachronistic technique and procedures, you’ll get bit every time.
My original BC record was lost in a hospital fire. I was probably about 8 at the time. My second original (my mom had to resupply information. She spelled my name wrong!) is still a microfiche negative, but it’s “official” and I have an old negative print of it. I have, however, recently requested an official reprint for various purposes. I can spot all sorts of suspicious crap on it if I want to think like a moron, but it really is just a photo re-print of my old document, projected onto safety paper. That makes it a second-generation degeneration from the original. All bets are off on that.
Hmmmph. I’ve read Ms. Barnhardt. In times past we’ve crossed paths and collaborated on a certain anti-gun loon blogger who is a United Nations employee living in Rome, but answer me this: what sort of blog does not have permalinks for each separate post? It’s like delving into an ever-growing haystack, looking for a diminishing needle. I just don’t get it.
Birth Certificate? Megamind? Great basketball player? Super cool likable guy?
Nothing, and I mean nothing that you hear about Obama is true. In fact, he is the exact opposite.
You make one three-pointer on camera and all of a sudden you’re the best athlete ever to hold office. He can’t get a regulation baseball 66.5 feet without bouncing it.
You’re a Harvard super-genius. He free-associates like a child about how we could be a powerful nation of bank tellers, ticket agents and row-hoers if not for this evil economy-strength-sapping efficiency through innovation.
So cool and likeable. He throws a golf summit and he picks the best player to be his partner and then he keeps his score a secret. As a golfer myself, I can guarantee that he is always the “dick” in any foursome – most likely telling people to move their shadow when it comes within 20 feet of him, and taking many do-overs because “I was interfered with.” a la Judge Smails.
Obama is a clumsy idiot asshole. Just exactly the opposite of what EVERY media outlet is reporting.
And Perry is the extreme version of GWB and can’t get elected. Right. What is the extreme version of GWB? Let’s see, if Obama is the opposite of GWB with real unemployment 4 times that of GWB’s average, than Rick Perry should be able to hit 1% in about 6 months. And if Rick Perry is the extreme version of GWB’s personal character, than most likely, the God of all be He Yaweh, Buddah, the artist formerly known as Prince or some amalgamation – will agree to be his running mate.
Since no CIA agents have actually examined the birth certificate itself, I think we can dismiss this as nonsense. But since when do CIA “agents,” whatever that means, have any expertise in counterfeit documents. The CIA, like any other modern organization, has specialization, where some employees counterfeit documents for use by field agents, etc.
So, even on its face, this claim is nonsense.
“We” are free to decide what it is we wish to do with these claims. I’m not a birther, so it’s no skin off my nose either way. And as I say in the post, the real story is that we wouldn’t have birtherism if the press had done its job and vetted the man who is now President with half the interest they showed (and continue to show) in Sarah Palin’s uterus, emails, and clothing choices.
To answer your questions, though, I find it entirely plausible that Vallely was using the term CIA “agent” loosely and colloquially, and that it may indeed have been those within the CIA who have specialization in identifying fraudulent documents to which the Major General was referring. Dismissing the claim “on its face” demands that you have a clear idea of what that face is. Instead, you just have a description used generically in a radio interview.
