A Turtle's Tale

“Marin turtle’s trek has biologists amazed”:

A western pond turtle appears to have made an incredible journey across Marin County in the past two years, traveling some 18 miles and making his way around large dams on a trek from Ross to near Point Reyes Station.

[…]

Point Reyes National Seashore herpetologist Gary Fellers said it is possible for a western pond turtle to travel several miles.

“It is within their capability,” he said. “You have to wonder what motivated the turtle to travel that far.”

I dunno. But if I had to guess I’d say it’s a toss us between taxes and all the hippies.

You may well be correct, McGehee! And that’s very funny!

I love this quote — this scientist has really got turtles figured out:

“It does seem hard to believe, but it is possible,” said Eric Ettlinger, a Marin Municipal Water District aquatic ecologist. “If he did, it was done very slowly.”

It’s turtles all the way down, man.

Sometimes it becomes easier to keep moving than to get back to where you once were.

Oh, OT, but anyone seen ‘feets around the ‘net, besides at that swine confinement breeding facility based in L.A. ?

(Damn, are those search results tailored just to me? because that’s just weird.)
