    I remember when it was big news that the entire debt was one trillion. That was not that long ago, I think Reagan was president.

    The power of compounding interest and unrestrained spending is amazing!

    Doesn’t surprise me much; between paying the interest on the debt we owe, and monetizing the debt we’re going to owe, or will default on, runs into some real money.

    But stuff like this is too nuanced for us proles to get. Only giant brained founts of BRILLIANCE! like the won can really understand how this is really in our economic interest

    To be fair, most of the money was used to make the past-due minimum payment on the federal VISA card. Prolly goes without saying that they used the federal MasterCard to make that payment.
