The New Civility, 43

Sherrod Brown inadvertently reminds us that certain public sector unions, with their mandatory enrollment, their promotion of longevity over merit, and their close ties to a central authority, are very Deutsche Arbeitsfront-esque.

So. Who gets to play Hitler in Sherrod Brown’s analogy?

Good lord. The outright dishonesty of AGAIN conflating public sector unions with private sector unions … did anyone try and push back against this sh*tstain?

  2. LBascom says:

    Speaking of union Nazis.

During the remainder of the six hours that Nancy Genovese was forcibly detained on the side of the road, she was taunted, verbally harangued, threatened, belittled, abused, humiliated and harassed by members of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office. For example, Deputy Carlock repeatedly referred to Nancy as “a right winger” and “tea bagger”, and threatened that they were going to arrest her for terrorism to make an example of her to other “tea baggers” and “right wingers”.

  3. cranky-d says:

They’ve already been successful at conflating illegal immigration with legal immigration, so conflating public and private sector unions is a cake walk.

A quote, quoted in your last link.

In the present state of affairs I am convinced that we cannot possibly dispense with the trades unions. On the contrary, they are among the most important institutions in the economic life of the nation. Not only are they important in the sphere of social policy but also, and even more so, in the national political sphere.

Guess who? And was down for the struggle too.

And while I’m not sure who the new Hitler will be, it seems to me that ObaMao is doing a pretty good job of getting the “new Lenin” thing down.

Or would a better analogue be Louis Le Grand.

This is a joke, right? Fuck Michael Moore.

  8. Obstreperous Infidel says:

Ah, geoffb, but we are told in that thread by one of our betters that anything Hitler said was just a lie, misdirection from his real aim which was totalitarianism of which we are assured has nothing to do with socialism! That poor guy (brooksbayne) has himself a serious troll infestation.

  9. Obstreperous Infidel says:

Oh and Brown is one of my senators. About as progg as you can get, so about as disingenuous and slimey as you can get.

LBascom, that was possibly the most rage-inducing link I have ever read. Made me want to go and look up some corrupt cops and tap them not so gently on the shoulders….or heads.

    Semi OT:

The Wisconsin Department of Administration estimates it could cost the state $8 million to restore the Capitol to its pre-protest condition, Wisconsin media are reporting. The estimate includes $500,000 to remove adhesive from taped posters, $1 million to repair the structure’s exterior and $6.5 million for rebuffing the interior marble.

Walker should give a press conference stating that these costs will come down by 30% if they’re allowed to hire private contractors to do it.

$6.5 million for polishing the marble is a freakin’ joke, btw. They oughtta just squirt some polishing compound around the place and tell the protesters that it’s Obama’s spooge. Those jokers will have that place polished in an hour, and it won’t cost a dime!

This rally is MANDATORY for all members. To quote President Lavin “I expect EVERYONE of our members to be in attendance. The only excuse is that you are on duty in the firehouse or that you’re in the hospital!!! Your second job is not a valid excuse!!!”

We will take attendance on Thursday to see which locals are present and which locals can expect assistance in the future.

    geoffb,

It sounds like they are walking back on the damage estimates. Meade (Mr. Althouse) snooped around looking for significant signs of damage. I didn’t see any in their footage.

  15. Stephanie says:

The non-union shop down the street can do it for $149.95 and probably throw in the sham-wows for free.

Any residual tape left from the stickage of even blue tape will cause dust to adhere and marble can’t be cleaned with just any old cleaner. If you use blue tape to do stripes on your walls when painting, not only do you have to peel off the tape after you are done, you are supposed to come back 30 days later (after the latex cures) and clean the walls with mild soap to remove any residue cause it will attract dust particles. If you don’t, you end up with fuzzy walls along all the tape lines. Learned the hard way once.

I thought it was a bit high too but this is marble which is not a particularly hard stone and if scratched or marred could involve quite a bit of work to restore to original. They/you restored the Capital last in 2001 at a cost of 148 million. This is not some DMV office but the State Capital building and should be kept extra fine as it is the showcase.

Wait and see what comes of it I guess.

yea it is a good idea to let squatters take it over for 2 weeks. those idiots should have been gone on day 2.

Agreed. I meant no indication of disagreement with you, if implied. I was busy at work and have a hard time completing thoughts through my fingers sometimes. I read somewhere that the Democrat, in charge of Capitol care, revised the estimate down. YMMV.
