First Act (Our hipster doofi heroes)
A Progressive group at UCSD hack a mash-up of all the bleeding edge tech to give a tool to La Raza in the Reconquista – all on the Man’s dime.
Nativist (and undoubtedly racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic) forces of reaction smite our noble heroes
News of the UC San Diego / CAL-IT2 Dominguez Trans Border Tool spreads far and wide, bringing comfort to La Raza and, if working as designed, providing potential migrants with a tool to return to their lands in the North.
Our heroes are exonerated!
Second Act (The 72)
After learning of UCSD Prof. Dominguez’ wonderful new tool for helping migrants cross the border, that silly, meaningless, so-yesterday-in-the-ipad-age border, the 72 migrants set north. The innocent’s travels are arduous; they eventually end up in the hands of the villains of this collaboration, the Zetas drug cartel. They snatch our 72 migrants, and demand ransom. Tension mounts, and our 72 Innocents come to believe that all is lost – but will our heroes ride to their rescue? Despair sets in among the 72, but one of them rises, and in a proud revolutionary voice reminds his comrades, “Think about how difficult it must have been for UCSD Prof. Dominguez to build this wonderful tool that will lead us to our rightful land, to live the Aztlan dream! We must go forward: for Dominguez and the People!”. With a renewed revolutionary determination, the 72 escape and head north.
Third Act (The Zetas Cartel)
The 72 are intercepted by 10 Enforcers and all are machine-gunned to death
Postscript (Here)
Except one survives. One of our intrepid travelers, though shot in the neck, lives by playing dead. As the Enforcers leave and as he lays bleeding, in a haze, our Survivor thinks he sees a figure, a vision, some kind of gender-ambiguous sprite, dancing through the dying field of the 72, wallowing in the blood of the Innocents and reciting poetry that would strike a Vogon dumb.
Fade to black.

The boingboing comment thread is a wonder of its own.
I was going to suggest that you submit this to The Blaze, but I see there’s no need.
providing potential migrants with a tool to return
totheir lands in the North to them.FIFY. Pronouns are always such a mess.
I also like how the poetry they recorded for the illegals was in English. RAAAAACISTS!
Wide dispersion of this story, along with others, in nations south of Mexico should seriously put a crimp in illegal immigration from those quarters here. Folks’ll think more than twice if they begin to have an expectation of encounters with sub-machinegunners along the way. On the other hand, Mexican illegal immigration should begin to pick up.
If only we hadn’t stolen all of their land that had thriving businesses, universities, paved roads and such.
It’s beautiful. But is it Art?
Regards,
Ric
The best part was that the whole thing was presented an “art” project.
fucking quakers
Why, no, Mark. Didn’t you read?
They repurposed it as an art project, with the enthusiastic concurrence of the museum director(s), and that’s what got the good Professor off the hook for misuse of Federal funds.

Ric
Ah. A new reality show.
“Who Want’s to Be an Assassin in Return for Their Family”?
“The Cartel Apprentice”.
Or.
“The Undocumented American “Donner Party”.
Somebody go dig up Black Jack Pershing and tell him there’s still stuff to do down south.
In the mean time the survivor can do an episode of “I Shouldn’t be Alive” on the Discovery Channel.
And yes, let that guy in and give him a Green Card.
Why doesn’t someone ask the sexually ambiguous Micha why he’s wearing a keffiyeh? Just how many minutes does he think he would last among the Hamas of Gaza before someone collasped a wall on him?
Why doesn’t someone ask the sexually ambiguous Micha why he’s wearing a keffiyeh?
Duh. He saw Rachel Ray wear one in a Dunkin’ Doughnuts commercial.
Just how many minutes does he think he would last among the Hamas of Gaza before someone collasped a wall on him?
They wouldn’t “collapse a wall on him” so much as they would tie him down, knock the wall over, break the wall down into small stones, and then throw those stones at him until he was dead.
Or maybe the stoning thing is just for women. Ya know, the ones raped without 9 witnesses and a family member present. Kill ’em all and whatnot.
Whores.
Anyway, Micha’s gettin’ his head cut off on You Tube.
If only we hadn’t stolen all of their land that had thriving businesses, universities, paved roads and such.
They can have the Mexican Cession back if they’d like, but first they must permit us to return it in the same condition as when we bought it.
That is: no roads, no dams, no mines, no canals, no power lines, no sewage systems, no natural gas lines, no phone lines, no houses/businesses/universities/hospitals, no water-treatment facilities, no railroads, etc.
Also, next time someone cops that Aztlan crap on you, ask them: If history were different, if this land had never been a part of Mexico, wouldn’t you have come here anyway?
It’d be cheaper to just buy Mexico.
Yeah, I said it.
What?
It’s true. Do the math. Would have been a helluva lot better government purchase than the stimulus.
Besides, do you know how many Reconquista heads that would have exploded.
Thanks Jeff.
I should mention that I was one of the people writing to UCSD, UC Regents, CAL-IT2, etc, along with Arnold and my congressman on this fiasco. I got two responses: an email from UCSD that I should look at this work “as a form of artistic exprfession on a controversial topic”, and banned from BoingBoing.
Ric, that’s what Kipling asked.
And this is one more example why you do not want your revolution led by university humanities professors. The phrase “What’s the big idea?” isn’t a compliment, and unversity humanities professors are everything about the big idea*.
*Except that little fiddling detail called reality. That big idea is ignored as it should.
We really need a revived Un-American Activities Committee.
