Welcome, racists.  Pull up a sheet.

From my comments section, the voice of popular lefty blogger Hesiod, here pontificating (in all his spittle-flecked, tinfoil-hatted radiance) on matters of contemporary racial politics:

[..] I never claimed that ALL Republicans are racists.

I said that they PANDER to racists, which is a major distinction. In fact, one could argue it’s actually WORSE.

Why? Because while actally [sic] being a racist is vile, at least someone would be acting on their [sic] convictions, no matter how misguided or wrong.

When you KNOW something is morally wrong, and you pander to it, and encourage it for POLITICAL gain, you are even more of a scumbag. And, to the extent the Republican party is comprised of people who are not racists themselves, but nevertheless pander to racist sympathties to win elections, it’s a party OF scumbags.

So you see, it’s only Republican voters who are racist. Republican politicians — pragmatic devils, all — are simply filling the market void left by principled Democrats whose hearts are pure and whose souls are scrubbed clean of racial animus. Or should I say, “whose HEARTS are PURE and whose SOULS are scrubbed CLEAN of racial animus.”

Of course, this same flabby Hesiodic logic could lead one to counter hypothesize that Democratic politicians — while themselves in fact all vile racists — are simply pandering to people like Hesiod (who would never tolerate the kind of “coded” racism encrypted in the Republican party platform) by supporting every policy proposal put forward by minority advocate groups, regardless of how wrongheaded they actually believe those policies to be. But this, too, would be an asinine argument.

Anyway, here in a nutshell is the gist of Hesiod’s musings: anyone who disagrees with Democratic policies vis-a-vis race is, ipso facto, a racist. Therefore, to be a Republican who actually believes in the Republican platform with regard to social policies redounding upon race, is to be a racist, plain and simple. And to be a Republican politician — either as a true believer or as a pragmatic panderer — is to be either a racist or a racist sympathizer/enabler.

Conversely, to be a Democrat is to fight the good fight. And, y’know, can I get an amen.

…Some nuance. And these are the folks I should be engaging in productive policy debates? What on earth for?

Wow, I’m really confused now. I didn’t realize Al Sharpton was really a Republican…

  2. david says:

    Amen.

I didn’t want you to think we weren’t listening.

BTW, Jesse Jackson is apparently a republican too.

  3. Ricky says:

Where do the “white niggers” fall?

Sheesh, come down to the deep south & you’ll see racism from both parties (of course, some people are too partisan to admit the truth & will spin what goes against their personal politics).  Hesiod…..not intelligent enough to waste bandwidth on.  DUers have more stroke.

  4. Moe Lane says:

You have been away, huh?  Hesiod got outed as a racist several months ago; he was indulging in the practice of formulating his bigotry against ‘acceptable’ (ie, Republican) minority targets.  You should have heard him howl when people called him on it!  smile

  5. Jeff G says:

Thanks for the link, Moe.  I swear, I feel dirty just for having had this guy visit my site.

  6. Dr. Weevil says:

Dirty but proud, I trust. Having Max Sawicky and ‘Hesiod Theogeny’ on the other side of an argument is an absolute guarantee that you’re right.

  7. Mike says:

“And these are the folks I should be engaging in productive policy debates? What on earth for?”

Got me, Jeff. I think we’re supposed to feel bad about that for some reason, but that’s got me kind of confused at this point too.

  8. This is just a pluperfect example of the REPUG BloGGy goodneSS echo chamber, Reinforcing Each othEr’s latent raKKKist tendencies! [slap]

  9. Flagwaver says:

And, Scott, your “post” would be an example of the “enlightened discourse” practiced by the denizens of DU and MoveOn????

Why don’t you take a crack (no, no, that was a figure of speech – put down the pipe and the blowtorch) at actually REFUTING something Jeff posted?  Or, maybe (HERE’S a radical thought) creating YOUR VERY OWN ACTUAL, FACTUALLY-BASED ARGUMENT to counter something the real posters here are saying.

Or, better yet, why doncha just go fellate your hero, Heziod, and leave us the fuck alone.

    Flagwaver —

Scott was just being facetious and adopting the voice of one of the Hesiodiots.  He runs “The Fat Guy,” is a Texan in fine standing, and a blog buddy of mine.  And he’s very funny.

And now you know he can do a damn fine Hesiodiot impression, too!

  11. flagwaver says:

Color me embarrassed.  Scott, you do an EXCELLENT Hesiodiot impression!  Are you sure you weren’t a bong-smoking liberal in a prior incarnation?

  12. Hesiod says:

The increasing irrelevence of conservatives, and conservative bloggers is quite evident.

    “spittle-flecked, tinfoil-hatted radiance”

    LOL!!

  13. Flagwaver says:

Yeah, Hesiod, we’re so damn irrelevant, we got the Senate Majority leader sat down for his intemperate and stupid (but NOT racist) remarks.

You liberal bloggers, on the other hand, continue to felch Terry McAwful, support the likes of Chomsky, Said, Streisand, Asner, et al, and apologize for your own sheet-wearers, which makes you . . . what, exactly?  Besides programmed, partisan pimps, that is.

Go back to your crack-pipe, asshat.

  14. Matt Moore says:

Do ya think The Hesiodiot actually “Laughed Out Loud!!” at that insult?

This was great stuff, why’d we have to move on? Do it again sometime soon, Hesiod is currently gunning for top spot on my list of the unintentionally hilarious.

  15. Jeff G says:

I suspect The Hesiodiot spends a good portion of his day laughing out loud.  Only it’s the maniacal giggle of the perpetually daffy.

I’m taking up a collection for Lysol to clean the comments field.  Anything left over will go toward getting that boy some anti-psychotic meds.

  16. I’m embarassed that I was able to sound so damn dumb.

  17. Flagwaver says:

Well, sorry I jumped froggy on ya for what was (once I re-read it) a pretty funny parody of a typical DU troll.

Isn’t it interesting how predictable, scripted and logic-free the rhetoric of the “intellectual” left is, compared to the typical discussions of us “knuckle-dragging Neanderthals”???

In all the blogs and chatrooms I’ve haunted in the last couple of years, I’ve found exactly ONE real liberal who could have a reasonable, articulate discussion, adduce facts and evidence in favor of his position, string together a coherent sentence, follow a chain of logic and generally maintain his cool when we disagreed.  I LOVED arguing with that guy (even though we never persuaded each other of much) – it was fun, educational, and forced me to hone and refine my own thinking.  Arguing with idjits like Hesiodiot and Max is either pathetic, or boring.  They haven’t had an original thought in years, they think logic is using their own assumptions to prove their conclusions, and they wouldn’t know evidence if it bit them in the ass.  The status of the left in America is truly pathetic – but, then, that’s because all the intelligent lefties (not that there were EVER that many of them) like Chris Hitchens woke the hell up on Sept. 12.  The ones that didn’t . . . well, they’re pretty much a lost cause.
