Patterns emerge:
Last night’s primaries had a theme, it was a theme of victory for conservative candidates. It was also a night in which establishment endorsements and old party names were no help.
More’s the pity. The same old-same old is just so comfy, you know?
Wait, so calling “Bullshit” loud and clear worked? It. Can’t. Be.
I owuld have figured the pragmatists would have got their first warning from Bennett’s ouster. And then Rubio/Crist. Now all this. Maybe they just need the lesson to be given many times?
More Gov. Christies, less Sen. Grahams.
They’re still convinced that Crist will win in Nov., which means the icky ‘Baggers will have cost the GOP a seat by kicking him out of the party and stuff.
But… but… don’t we need to restore civility??? Harsh, potentially misunderstood words have no place in modern politicalsurrender discourse.
These results are clearly a case of INMATES TAKING OVER THE ASYLUM!!!!!11!11!!!one!!
Gah. Imagine a strikethru on the “surrender” above.
“Standing athwart history, yelling ‘Bullshit!'” has a nice sound to it.
Crist still polls well.
Crist is slathered with win!
oh wait that’s Jergens lotion
Flies and your average American, Pablo.
They both know bullshit when they smell it.
The Crist thing is killing me, as a Floridian. I talked to another lawyer in a deposition yesterday about his “dinner with Crist” (which after alot prodding, he admitted was a fundraising dinner with 150 people). This guy is a plaintiff’s lawyer but he claims he’s a moderate. I disqualified him from being a “moderate” after he referred to the “insane tea partiers”, indicated he “despised” Marco Rubio (apparently because of pro drilling and pro life stances) and the memme at the Crist fundraiser was Charlie didn’t leave the party, the party left him.
What a crock of shit. Two Faced Charlie may as well put a (D) behind his name. The only people I’ve met voting for him are democrats and they support him because he’s a “moderate”.
He won’t if he keeps this shit up.
“Standing athwart history, yelling ‘Bullshit!’”
I think Buckley would have been cool with that line on his tombstone.
Crist has one poll showing him up. Unless Meeks drops out, Crist is still going to be spliting is pool of available voters in the general. The advantage is still Rubio’s. Plus I am not sure Crist will like aligning himself with the da one if the spill is still going on in November. Especially when Obama is blocking sand berms and protective measures.
Still, you would think Floridians would be rejecting such a flip flopper out of hand.
Still, you would think Floridians would be rejecting such a flip flopper out of hand.
Flip flopper? More like “The Independent Party of Me”. I just don’t get it. Makes Specter look like a…well…a pragmatist.
And what is it with Florida? They just built a “Pres. Barack Obama Hwy” in Orlando (which as someone noted, probably leads directly to the Magic Kingdom).
This shit is unbelievable. Do David Brooks and Andrew Sullivan know about this? I’ve still got 15,000 Obama bumber stickers in my garage. Fuck!
Such intemperate language, David. Put down the canapes and champagne, ma cherie. You need a massage.
Mike Lee won the GOP primary for Bob Bennett’s senate seat yesterday, and he was supported by DeMint (and the Tea Parties), but he only won 51/49%.
Lee seems to be a straight-shooter (despite being a lawyer), clerked with Alito, and says that the Constitution was a frequent dinner-table conversation as he grew up. Which makes sense, his father having been Rex Lee (RIP), a Constitutional lawyer who argued 59 cases before SCOTUS and former president of BYU while I was attending. He was an impressive guy, very principled, very gung-ho on the Constitution.
It appears his kid learned the lesson. Good thing, too. They don’t always.
Pres. Barack H. Obama Hwy. leads to the bankruptcy courthouse.
I live in West Valley City, UT, a couple miles away from this incident, of which I was wholly unaware until I heard about it on the radio. Odd to see that it went national. Or that it made it to Ace’s.
I was watching the live feed from the gulf this morning thinking this is something new we haven’t seen before…
ohnoes BP is not very good at this oil thing
As I have stated on numerous ocassions, BP was focused on preparing to make the jump to the imaginary carbon economy. Their skills in managing the extaction of oil have been allowed to lapse.
an interesting holocaust creative not sure how this was deployed it’s from here
My old party name was “King Comfort” after an unfortunate incident with twenty five cent shots of SoCo.
Took me six years to live that one down, but by sophomore year most people had forgotten it and I was back in business.
A “real conservative” winning in Utah or South Carolina isn’t really news is it?
Especially when Crist still leads Rubio in Florida and Jerry Brown leads Whitman in California.
I will consider chilling the champagne and hanging the banners if & when we see a “real conservative” win a general election in what is generally considered a red state. Not before.
Sorry to be such a party pooper, but I’ve watched the GOP snatch defeat from the jaws of victory too many times.
Face it, if Sitting Bull had been a Republican, Custer would be in the pantheon of American military heroes alongside Patton & MacArthur.
Face it, if Sitting Bull had been a Republican, Custer would be in the pantheon of American military heroes alongside Patton & MacArthur.
That’s funny, because I have this memory of an idea that Custer was out on the Greasy Grass in the hopes of achieving an eastern newspaper headline grabbing victory over the Sioux and Cheyenne so that he could run as a celebrity nominee in the ’76 Democrat national convention.
A “real conservative” winning in Utah or South Carolina isn’t really news is it?
It is because supposedly the sitting senators were plenty conservative already. True, it’s easier for a Real Conservative to win in UT than in, say, MA, but compared to Ted Kennedy, Scott Brown is to the right of the Birchers.
Dicentra –
If the “sitting Senators were plenty conservative already”, then they would not have been vulnerable to a contender from their right.
Sadly, once many elected conservatives get to Washington, they fall prey to the desire to be liked by the arbiters of the DC/media social whirl, don’t want to be criticized by the WaPo or NYT and get pine to be invited to the “cool kids parties”, which causes them to abandon their conservative roots and morph into RINO’s.
It is embarassing to take a position that matches this prick’s.
And no Pat, I am not sure where you come up with molesting boys, but perhaps that is something you are into.
Joe, Patterico is an idiot whose lunch money was stolen by a 13 y/o skateboarder, just before the jocks stuffed and locked him in his gym locker for a couple three hours. With all their unwashed jockstraps.
That is all you need know.
Jesus Pat, I would not have even accused J.D. of that. You are a sick fuck.
