I can’t tell you why this bothered me so much, but it did. For whatever reasons. So y’know, I’m just saying, is all…
From the Dayton Daily News:
In a post-Columbine world, acts of innocent fun have sometimes turned into criminal acts of revenge. Nobody

DePalma, meet Mineta. You two will be the first to swing when the revolution comes.
Why is it that “this” and “post-Columbine” aren’t ever pointed out as redundant? Ditto post-modern, post-911, post-anything. “This” normally points to “now”, which to most people is sometime after a historical event. Maybe I’m just picky.
Okay, you kids, knock that off! That’s really funny, until somebody loses an eye! Don’t make me stop this car! If I have to come in there, somebody’s going to be real sorry!
Speaking just for myself, I couldn’t retain a shred of self respect if I had a job forbidding the exercise of judgement, intelligence, or initiative. Fortunately for jobs like that, there are people like DePalma. Otherwise, he’d probably have to work for the Department of Transportation.
ALRIGHT! You can all just sit down and KNOCK IT OFF! This is going on YOUR PERMANENT RECORD!
I wonder what the penalty is for those caught TP-ing a house.
Well, at least a school rep did claim their use of Zero Tolerance did not include the usual Zero Brains, ie the punishment for a squirt gun is not supposed to be the same as faor an AR-15.. . And yes, the Ritalin dispensr can be found in any school rest room. And giving a lemon drop to another kid will result in a police record for distributing drugs (well, it was a mentholated cough drop).
I’m glad I was allowed to have some fun (and peanut-butter) as a kid, and worry how many time-bombs we are constructing in our schools today.
Its a good thing I don’t have school age children, because a good defense attorney for a charge of murder of a educational bureaucrat is damn expensive.
Does anyone remember where “Zero tolerance” came from? It was the policy of the Reagan admin that is any drugs were found on a vehicle of vessel, it would be confiscated. It was dropped after a trace of an illegal drug was found on the yacht of a gentleman who happened to be good friends of a US Senator, who quietly got the policy changed so that a careless dockhand or driver couldn’t endanger a law-abiding(at least in regard to the drug laws) owner.
