Cheeseburger in Paradise

Great news, this.

Although I suppose this means I can’t get away with suing Peter Jackson for damages the next time I’m arrested bitch slapping some newly-outed nerd who insists on slipping the word “hobbit” into every third sentence.

Count your blessings, wizardhumper.

Damn, but it’s good to see you’re back. Let the revels commence!

  2. Democrats may try to scuttle the bill by attaching an amendment to ‘close the potluck dinner loophole.’

’K, lessee if I got this right – last week, they shot down (pun probably intentional) an attempt at hold-harmless for the firearms industry, ‘cause it was fatally wounded (-also probably intentional) by tacked-on amendments by the Demonrats – THIS week, the attempt is a hold-harmless for Ronald and his friends, so nobody can claim they wuz robbed of their health and/or natural slimness (“I couldn’t help but git fat, yerronner – they pointed ‘at Whopaburger an’ Supafries RIGHT AT ME!!”) by the nefarious Fast Food World Conspiracy.

Simple answer: we’re obviously deeply engaged in making the world safe for the survival of fat people.

  4. Jeff, I’m starting to get the feeling that you don’t like Tolkien.

Or is it just the film you didn’t care for?

Y’know, that might be a public delinking offense… no, not disliking the film. That’s okay. But I’d be VERY wary of letting Andrea Harris figure out you don’t like LOTR.

Then again, I haven’t seen a good battle where I’m not actually IN the fight in a very long time.

Go ahead. Tell us, Jeff. What’s your opinion on Tolkien and the movies?

  5. Jeff G says:

    Tolkien’s a’ight.  A first-class scholar and a great storyteller.

But the LOTR movies aren’t my thang.  Not a big fan of CGI.  My wife likes ‘em, though.  I’ve only seen the first, but I own 1&2 on DVD.  When the 3rd hits disc I’ll pick it up and watch ‘em all in order.  Then I’ll re-evaluate my position.

    Until then, blah.

  6. The Sanity Inspector says:

I was always more of an sf rather than fantasy guy.  In high school I gave up on The Hobbit, but ate up Dune, which I was reading concurrently.
