From Rob Morse’s Monday column in the San Francisco Chronicle:
Our tolerant Bay Area: Heading eastbound on the Bay Bridge the other day was a Ford Escort plastered with 15 or 20 bumper stickers saying things like ‘Friends don’t let friends vote Republican’ and ‘The road to hell is paved with Republicans.’
In the middle of all these was ‘Celebrate diversity.’
Ha! Priceless.
(Which reminds me… some of my best friends are Jewish. No, really.)
[Thanks, Peggy]
Yeah, but would you want your sister to marry one?
You’re welcome. The theme of the Bay Area: We celebrate diversity unless you think or act differently from us.
Shoot, when we said, “Diversity” we didn’t mean THAT kind of diversity!
That reminds me on an article I saw about the San Juan Islands. The article went on and on discussing how mellow and laid-back the residents are, but finished up with a cute anecdote about how a local peer-pressured a new neighbor to sell his Beemer and buy a pickup.
Yes, we’re tolerant of people who are just like us.
