Purr-fect Agony

“The Meow Mix Company announced plans to launch television programming targeted specifically for cats, according to Local 6 News [in Central Florida].

“The program, which is scheduled to launch this fall, will feature visuals that are appealing to cats, such as birds, mice and bouncing balls.”

In addition, there will be information about cats for owners to watch.

The idea to begin the show reportedly came from research that found that cats enjoy watching television.

The 8-week Meow TV tour begins July 17.

Well, if my cat wants to watch that shit he’d better get himself a job and pony up enough jack for a TV of his own, otherwise it’s reruns of “Good Times” and the occasional John Hughes flick, just as it’s always been.

You want bouncing balls, Lester? Stand underneath me while I’m doing jumping jacks. You stupid cat.

We don’t need no stinking cat TV channel.

My cats love to watch “kitty TV”, which is what we call it when we raise the front blinds in the living room, and let them sit on the window sill and watch the birds and squirrels and neighborhood cats go by. It keeps them occupied for hours. When we move into our new apartment in Brooklyn, I’m going to get one of those window bird feeder things, so they’ll have that to watch.

One of my cats does like actual TV. As long as we put it on Animal Planet or the Discovery Channel on occasion, for a show that has animals running back and forth across the screen, he’s happy. He even races around to the side of the TV to see where the animals went. Too cute.

  2. Nezumi-chan wouldn’t even bother to look at the screen. Her interests are being fed and being petted, not necessarily in that order.

  3. As far as my cat is concerned, she’s the entertainment.
