Sec Gates told David Gregory on MTP that this was one (among many) difference between Obama and Bush, namely that Obama would go out of his way to insist on hearing from everyone in a roomful of participants in discussions on Defense policy. If someone hadn’t spoken, Obama will call them out and make them give their opinion, where Bush was content to leave them alone to their thoughts if they so chose.
I’ll give him my opinion though. Forcing this Health Care nationalization plan down the throat of a choking economy will likely kill it outright, contrary to your claim that this will be its salvation, Pres. Obama, you putz.
Healthcare costs are high because a third party pays most of it. Same with college tuitions. If car insurance paid for oil changes, they’d be going for $100 a pop.
There are ways that the health care system could be made better. Unfortunately they involve getting the government for the most part out of it.
Old “listen to everyone in the room” will listen, just like the Hillary “listening tours”, then do exactly what he has already planned to do. “Free” government run and paid health care for all, forever.
The only plan for after that is, (h/t dicentra I believe)
Retire, the incumbents.
Repeal, all the socialism.
Revive, the free market economy.
It really is more like, Obama: “Every lie must be heard on health care reform, and heard often, over and over again, until no-one knows what is up and what is down. Now hold still while I tell you another.”
Any chance there is going to be a response or post on here addressing Patterico’s “I hope Rush Limbaugh fails!!!” crap? I read the whole thing and get that was just an attention grabbing headline but WTF. From a guy that extends the obligatory “he is a good man who wants what is best for this country” to Obama I find that pretty funny. In so many ways.
I must be missing a couple of pages from my copy of the Constitution, can anyone point me to the part where Congress is granted a power to create national health care?
It’s right there in Secret Article 1 right after the amendment that made the Constitution expansive of government’s scope rather than a limitation on government.
Jeffersonian – It is the same Constitution that provides contain emanations of penumbras, and all sorts of other nebulous ideas, while trampling on actual spelled out ideals in the Bill of Rights like freedom of speech and the right to bear arms, or bare arms, in the case of the dirty little socialsists spouse, who gives away plastic toys from the White House gift shop to the children of visiting heads of State. But, I digress …
Thanks, JD #32. I’m just a hick from flyover country. I’m not smart enough to know that when it says they can do A, B, C and D, that E, F, G and so on are implied powers ready to be discovered by ambitious legislators and rubber-stamped by compliant judges.
Jeffersonan – As you well know, I am a knuckle-draggin mouth-breathin hilljack rube from flyover country too ;-)
How much more damage does this dirty little fuckin socialist want to do to the economy? Cap and trade. Jacking up CAFE standards. EEEEEEEEEEEEEvil oil companies. Government run healthcare. We are well and truly fucked.
Do our representatives really think the average American man/woman are too stupid to make their own decisions? I thought our reps were suppose to represent us. Why can’t the American people vote on this issue? If it’s money, look at what they are spending on raming it down our throats. Perhaps the saying is true about how they can do what they want and when election year rolls around the American people will have forgotten about it. Not me!
Are the Bilderbergers, skull and bones, illuminati, etc still trying to control the world. This isn’t that far-fetched, but I suppose most, if not all, would laugh at this idea.
My turn:
Bite me!
That’s a good one, too, Carin. I thought of doing that one.
Too late. It’s mine.
How ’bout, “Don’t let your wife do to the American poor what she did to the poor in Chicago!”?
“I don’t want my life in the hands of people who cannot be fired.”

I want you to fail.

Slash healthcare costs in a meaningful way.

Everyone needs to be heard…but not everyone will have to pay for it.

I see a few people here will be going to the re-education camps. Pack lots of extra clothes, you’ll be there for a long while.
Cranky – first they’d have to make it onto my compound to take me away …
