  1. happyfeet says:

it’s like one of them telenovelas what entire countries stop everything to watch

  2. Mr. Pink says:

    Wow that sucks.

  3. Sdferr says:

I find it odd that the sub-headline to the linked article doesn’t bother to capitalize Bristol Palin’s name. Proofreading is dead, dead, dead, I guess.

  4. Mr. Pink says:

Maybe that is just like how every left wing commentator purposely does not capitalize Bush’s name to show their disrespect?

  5. JD says:

There is no conclusive proof that Sarah Palin gave birth to that child.

  6. Sdferr says:

I doubt that Mr. Pink. I think it’s just laziness.

  7. cranky-d says:

This isn’t going to improve the narrative much. I’m guessing meth, though, just because it makes it all complete. Full circle, as it were, for the snowbillies from Alaska. At least, that’s what we’re going to here from the left.

  8. cranky-d says:

    here->hear

I blame George Bush for my spelling errors. He’s a bad influence.

  9. parsnip says:

Aaah, the quiet dignity of “real” America.

  10. Dan Collins says:

Just so, which is why we won’t bring up any of the Kennedy stuff.

  11. JD says:

    STFU, parsnip.

  12. Darleen says:

Just so, which is why we won’t bring up any of the Kennedy stuff.

    Or Hollywood/Malibu/Beverly Hills

  13. SarahW says:

Or Obama’s days of cocaine and weed.

  14. Lt. York says:

I can’t believe you guys [and gals] are complaining about this.
This is important political news, vital for an informed citizenry…

By the way, do any of you know whether Obama wears boxers or briefs?

  15. Lt. York says:

Ahhhh, yes, Real America…I think Al Gore’s kid lives here too…

  16. assclown says:

When is that wedding, by the way? Bristol’s about to pop and no daddy. Sigh, what awful circumstances for such a wonderful family.

  17. Lt. York says:

Showing their class right off, eh?

  18. Mr. Pink says:

We know this but yet no interviews with the future presidents drug dealer.

  19. assclown says:

I’m just glad to see the rightwing “family values” brigade once again revealed as hypocritical scolds. Fuck ’em.

  20. Dan Collins says:

Yeah, they and their draconian laws that only other people get in trouble over.

  21. Darleen says:

I’m amused when the Left generally rants against marriage – old fashioned, irrelevant to modernity, oppressive to womyns, Teh Patriarchy, homophobic, – but then engages in faux-pissiness when those H8’d others don’t conform to their cartoon version of marriage.

  22. Dan Collins says:

That and the, y’know, guilt by association.

  23. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Trolls: don’t feed ’em.

  24. Darleen says:

assclown lives up to its non d’commenter … has absolutely no concept of either family values or hypocrisy. It has definitely beclowned its asshole self.

  25. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Or not.

  26. N. O'Brain says:

“The reason any conservative’s failing is always major news is that it allows liberals to engage in their very favorite taunt: Hypocrisy! Hypocrisy is the only sin that really inflames them. Inasmuch as liberals have no morals, they can sit back and criticize other people for failing to meet the standards that liberals simply renounce. It’s an intriguing strategy. By openly admitting to being philanderers, draft dodgers, liars, weasels and cowards, liberals avoid ever being hypocrites.”

    -Ann Coulter

  27. parsnip says:

Where did you guys hide the lovely “Ms.” Coulter during the last election anyways?

  28. Jim in KC says:

“assclown” is a bit stupid isn’t he?

  29. Dan Collins says:

She was fired for saying she wished someone would kill JTP.

  30. Jim in KC says:

Where did you guys hide the lovely “Ms.” Coulter during the last election anyways?

If she was up your butt, you’d know.

  31. alppuccino says:

We all have our sins. But to be forgiven, we must admit them, or go into rehab.

Just rehab. Don’t admit anything. Right parsnip?

  32. alppuccino says:

By the way, where have you been hiding Rahm?

  33. Mr. Pink says:

Rahm is out formulating the next wave of spin that has evolved from “I have had no contact” to “No innapropriate contact” to “Blago is crazyyyyyyyyyyy look at his hairpiece”.

  34. JHoward says:

I’m just glad to see the rightwing “family values” human brigade once again revealed as hypocritical scolds. Fuck ‘em.

Fixed that for you, assclown. Next thing you know you’ll be doubting government.

  35. JHoward says:

Hmmm, formatting chingus no format: “I’m just glad to see the rightwing “family values” human brigade once again revealed as hypocritical scolds. Fuck ‘em.”

  36. JHoward says:

Inasmuch as liberals have no morals

Well, that’s just hitting below the belt, Ann.

  37. J."Trashman" Peden says:

So the Moles tell the Root Ann Coulter is hiding? Or is it only “The Voices”?

  38. JHoward says:

By the way, where have you been hiding Rahm?

Rahm hell; where they keeping the next vice president of the United States?

  39. DarthRove says:

I think Rahmbo is undergoing hypnotic therapy to figure out exactly what he said in which conversations.

  40. Mikey NTH says:

Gentlemen, Ladies: Why do you continue to deal with the tedious and mendouchous trolls? You waste your time and give them a sense of adequacy that isn’t warranted.

  41. assclown says:

Darleen, when I said “Fuck ’em” I was referring to you and people like you. You reserve your sympathy for the sad predicament of Levi and Bristol but are contemptuous to any minority or Muslim who errs. After getting beaten over the head by screeching harpies like yourself about the true love of Bristol and Levi and the big bad lefty meanies who thought they were silly kids, I say “fuck you” quite heartily. You wouldn’t know family values if it bit you on your ass.

As for Ann’s lovely rant – wasn’t there a 300+ comment thread yesterday about the hypocrisy of a University’s free speech zones? So, shove it up your ass.

  42. Dan Collins says:

Are you saying you want me to delete your comment?

  43. Thomas says:

Anyone know if Ms. Johnston is a republican or democrat? They don’t mention it in the article which usually indicates democrat. Just askin.

  44. Sdferr says:

I’m saying I want you to delete that comment. It isn’t in any way useful.

  45. J."Trashman" Peden says:

Rahm hell; where they keeping the next vice president of the United States?

He’s probably helping the French save Zimbabwe.

  46. Dan Collins says:

Maybe I should post a free speech thread?

  47. J."Trashman" Peden says:

Sadly, assclown, no one of us here can lessen your personal burden of guilt and shame resulting from the election of a Commie-style Mobster to the White House. Even His pleasant surprises to us will no doubt not comfort you in the least – those perhaps such as His continuing full-bore with Bushitler’s WOT tactics, which have resulted in a perfect record concerning further 9/11-like attacks upon my Homeland, a record therefore involving tactics not to be toyed with, especially by a savvy Mobster.

And thus, unfortuneately, the intensity and severity of the words spoken by “The Voices” to you, which you so anxiously pass on to us here, will only increase.

I understand your internal torture, but certainly would not want to be you and have to feel it.

Nevertheless, feel free to wave if you see me passing on the bridge above you.

  48. Mikey NTH says:

Do what you think is best, Dan. A general statement about what you are doing, perhaps and that is it. The lamprous trolls don’t deserve much more.

  49. assclown says:

Peden, that was utterly unconnected to anything I have typed here. Or my private thoughts. I can only assume this is your true thoughts on what non-wingnuts believe. Fantasy from the echo chamber.

  50. Darleen says:

You reserve your sympathy for the sad predicament of Levi and Bristol but are contemptuous to any minority or Muslim who errs.

You can either source that assertion or have an epiphany you are still arguing in an alternative reality of your own making.

Third choice you’ll take “Look! Bunnies!”

  51. Dan Collins says:

Thing is, those university admins are in loco parentis. You can’t have students wandering around saying what they think just anywhere on campus. It produces an environment that’s anathema to freedom of inquiry.

  52. assclown says:

And your #23 was so thoroughly sourced I was lost for hours. Frankly, calls for attribution are fucking hilarious around here where stream of consciousness rants count as deep thought by the regulards.

  53. J."Trashman" Peden says:

Peden, that was utterly unconnected to anything I have typed here. Or my private thoughts.

So, trying to blame The Voices, eh, and probably even for making you call yourself “assclown”, too?

  54. Bob Reed says:

Caroline Kennedy needs to actually be elected to something before being appointed to the Senate; her geneology means nothing…

But, it’s a different story in the breathless, gushing, media. They had always assumed that Jon-Jon would ultimately come around, quit being a playboy, and take his rightful place in government; first in the Senate and then, of course, on to the White House. But, since his horrible, but willfully self inflicted, fatal aircraft accident, well then, Caroline it is!; and then the legacy will truly be fullfilled…

Isn’t it funny though, how Hillary, and Palin, were soooooooo inexperienced-next to the one!-but that somehow Caroline, who has never even held elected office nor even voted that often, is pre-eminently qualified…

Nothin’ but the same old Democrat hypocrisy at work. That’s the reason they are always breathlessly accusing everyone else of that behavior; they just can’t get past projecting their actions and intentions on to everyone else…

  55. happyfeet says:

What does Kathleen Parker think about this is something that never occurs to me.

  56. Obstreperous Infidel says:

“You reserve your sympathy for the sad predicament of Levi and Bristol but are contemptuous to any minority or Muslim who errs.”

Wow, realizing that assclown is the most appropriately named person in this here joint, that was an unbelievably duumb comment. Firstly, how did they err? Anyone, and I do mean ANYONE who can afford (either financially, emotionally/familial support) to have a child is not “err”ing, imo. People aren’t mistakes. Secondly, the only Muslims I’m “contemptuous” of are the ones that want to blow us (especially you, you freaking assclown) up. Now that is “err”ing. People are people assclown, even you. As for the minority comment. That is only “real” in the recesses of the fever swamp you call a mind.

  57. Pablo says:

And your #23 was so thoroughly sourced I was lost for hours.

All you had to do is ask, assclown.

  58. I’m honoring Maj John by not replying to Mr. @ss. Until he learns to actually frame a legitimate argument, I think we should ignore him. Challenge him into trying to same something cognitive.

  59. JHoward says:

I can only assume this is your true thoughts on what non-wingnuts believe. Fantasy from the echo chamber.

assclown, kindly only assume that your ethical trajectory, such as it is, reflects your true, non-wingnut thoughts (such as they may be, blessed be their name — I mean, you want to go all stereotypin’ push-back and all; let me lend a quarter-twenty chrome-plated jobbie with an acorn on top, ‘k?)

Ergo, non-wingnut fantasy from the echo chamber. By their works one knows them (gasp) and so forth. Funny, that.

  60. Mikey NTH says:

    In Re: kathleen Parker.

The baby-boomer nostalgia is really getting ridiculous.

  61. J."Trashman" Peden says:

Challenge him into trying to say something cognitive.

Ok: assclown, tell why Obama will most likely save my Country, but not yours. Or if we both have the same Country – so that you cannot kick or wish me out of “your” Country – tell me why Obama will not pursue quite closely the Bush tactics and strategy which have resulted in a perfect record so far in protecting our Country from further 9/11-like attacks.

Why will Obama bet against the Bush wot tactics and strategy which have produced a perfect record, by significantly altering any of the obviously important elements involved?

  62. JHoward says:

Until [Mr. @ss] learns to actually frame a legitimate argument, I think we should ignore him. Challenge him into trying to same something cognitive.

This is how the political spectrum is inherently asymmetrical, Carin. Legitimacy it cannot do.

  63. That is a fear of mine.

I’m all for laughing and pointing. But, even pretending to engage … it just encourages ’em.

Of course, I’m busy today, so I can be like this. When I’m bored, I’m one of the first to play poke the troll.

  64. J."Trashman" Peden says:

I’m all for laughing and pointing. But, even pretending to engage … it just encourages ‘em.

What, you don’t even want to hear more about assclown’s “private thoughts”? Oh well, as a professional Sanitary Engineer, I quess I’m almost just naturally more intrigued./bs

  65. Dan Collins says:

“Quess” comments go into the post above.

  72. libocrat says:

I believe liberala are stupid enough to elect Ted Kennedy’s dog “Splash” or Caroline’s pony “Macaroni” to the Senate. I mean they elected Joe Biden as V.P.! Liberals have no concept of competence nor character. If you are pro-abortion, pro-big government and pro-welfare. You are their man!

  73. JD says:

parsnip/turnip/tube/fuckface – Which party was considering loyalty oaths during the primaries?

  74. libocrat says:

JD, I believe it’s the party that supports unions.

  75. parsnip says:

    Lighten up, JD.

Even someone as bitter and dismal as yourself must find humor in the phony conservative movement’s predicament:

They need to attract more people to their cuse or their movement dies, but, they hate everyone and everyone hates them.

    Comedy Gold!

  76. JD says:

    Go play in traffic, turnip.

  77. JD says:

but, they hate everyone and everyone hates them.

You are an abject fucking liar.

  78. BJTexs says:

  80. Darleen says:

    JD

Prostitutes or porno-stars may be very “popular”, but they rarely end up in long-term meaningful relationships. Certainly the Republican party could attempt to engage in as much whoring as the Democrats “Free healthcare! Free gas! Free homes! A job by right!”, but Dems are the pros and Republicans just come off as slutty wannabes.

When one wakes up one morning with a hangover, empty bank account and nasty STDs, whores lose their appeal and suddenly adulthood and standards are attractive.

The GOP can do what’s easy or do what’s right. Parker and Powell vote the slut path and professional whores — parshit/alphie/thor/assclown/et al — are applauding them.

  81. happyfeet says:

Drugs get people into trouble. This happens a lot. But my second thought really is I don’t have a lot of faith in these Alaska State Troopers people. Some of them are just flatout shifty characters I think.

  82. happyfeet says:

You know who likes his drugs is Al Gore’s kid. I don’t really begrudge him that.

  83. libocrat says:

Parsnip, did you ever consider that you are just another sheep follower? Your partners in liberalism include. Gays, abortion lovers, Unions, Naral, Nambla and every other freak group imaginable.
Your conglomerate has no moral code at all, it’s kind of free for all, with each group compromising themselves for a piece of pie.
And you want those you hate to pay for the pie.
I guess in short, you are just another needy loser.

  84. parsnip says:

    So, Darleen,

The whole Republican plan to regain power is to hope Obama does worse than Bush?

    Haha, good luck with that.

  85. libocrat says:

Liberals don’t find anything wrong with whores. Bill Clinton is a whore. Barney Frank paid one, then let him move in.
Liberals don’t believe that there is any sin. But if you do believe in sin and redemption upon contrition, they hate you. Liberals are like cockroaches. They run from the light, and they infect.

  86. parsnip says:

  89. happyfeet says:

Who else what has the numerous family relatives what like their drugs is that Caroline Kennedy. Drugs and rape and stuff like that. Kennedy people are really sort of swinish, generally, as a family, so it’s interesting that one of them is gonna be begifted with a Senate seat I think.

  90. N. O'Brain says:

Did you know that Ted Kennedy’s Dad was a pro-fascist anti-semite?

Funny how that never gets mentioned.

  91. N. O'Brain says:

But the Bush’s help set up the Nazi regime.

At least according to the reactionary leftist liars, anyhow.

  92. parsnip says:

    Poor Jeb.

No wonder big Bush cried for him.

  93. SteveG says:

I’m trying to figure out how Sarah Palin is a hypocrite here.
Christian kids get pregnant too.. y goes into x and spurts z. 9 months later you get x and/or y.
Religion, faith, abstinence involve ideals. Faith and religion in the Christian tradition recognizes that its followers will fall short on laws and ideals frequently, so Christians are supposed to transparently acknowledge their personal responsibility; resolve not to repeat the problem behavior. Then go on to walk in a good and righteous (in the best sense of that word) life.
One of the problems most Christians have with anyone is lack of taking personal responsibilty. That said, ask people like Charlie Wilson or Bill Clinton or other Bible Belt miscreants what the best strategy is when dealing with their (very) religious constituents….. “fess up”…”aw shucks”…. why does that work? Christian culture requires gracious forgiveness be offered to those who “fess up” .
In light of the above, and given Obama’s personal bent towards Christianity, I see Obama’s choice of Rick Warren to be a great strategic move that gives him access to preemptive grace from a large portion of the actively Christian community.
Sarah and Bristol Palin are not seen as hypocrites by Christians because they are humans struggling openly and in a genuine way in an imperfect world who move forward in life acknowledging their shortcomings. Christians culture prompts followers to ask “how can we help”? Judgemental behavior towards those who have freely confessed runs against Christian teaching and culture, and Obama may be able to tap into into that just like the Palin’s… have if he can appear or be, genuine.

  94. Mikey NTH says:

Again, please ignore the lamprous trolls. They are just here to draw the life out of this site.

  95. parsnip says:

So to Christians, a mass murderer who says “sorry” is a better person than an unrepentant jaywalker, SteveG?

  96. assclown says:

No no no. I want to hear more of Darleen and libo-whatever pound on the pulpit! Tell us, oh wise theologians, about whores and sin and such. It is SO enlightening. And you can go ahead and tell us when Bristol will be married, as well. snicker

  97. Ric Locke says:

#98: Yep. That does not mean the mass murderer shouldn’t be executed. Sin is washed away by confession and absolution, but crime is purely secular.

    Regards,
    Ric

  98. assclown says:

  100. libocrat says:

Hey, I hear anti-reason runs 52% these days. They win!

  115. JHoward says:

Economy of words, libocrat, economy of words.

  116. JHoward says:

The whole Republican plan to regain power is to hope Obama does worse than Bush?

Well, the entire Democrat-Socialist plan to regain power at any cost whatsoever was to hope Bush did worse. And worse. And to not draw any meaningful conclusions about anything as a result.

Introspection? Principle? Sure, and I’ll ask you when I need some coaching on original old documents, too. And what they meant.

  117. JHoward says:

libocrat, how do you feel about the (now disintegrating) Republican party being a conglomerate of religious folk largely lied to and led astray by corporate interests?

Beats me. How do you feel, assclown, about the (now unprincipled and heavily Socialized) Democrat party being a conglomerate of religious folk largely lied to and led astray by corrupt interests?

  118. JHoward says:

How does you believing in some imaginary creature that nobody has seen before make you “moral?”

It has to do with ascribing something higher purpose, principle, and power than yourself, thereby allowing you to reach your fullest potential. I can see you struggling and failing with that.

The other difference between us is that I allow you that option.

So. How does you believing in mob morality (that nobody’s ever seen work out before) make you correct? Intelligent? Reasoned? Principled? Wise? Educated? Safe? Free?

  119. assclown says:

“Well, the entire Democrat-Socialist plan to regain power at any cost whatsoever was to hope Bush did worse. And worse. And to not draw any meaningful conclusions about anything as a result.”

What conclusion would you draw? Bush wasn’t being Bush HARD enough? Christ, the sorry state of our country is 90% thanks to Bush and the Republicans. Soak it up. You will be known as the party who wrecked our economy, credibility, and military. Your ideology and “morals” (snicker) have been proven to be ephemeral nonsense twisted to serve your leadership. Your place in history is assured and I’m fine with that. You should get used to it.

Throw it in the briar patch, assclown. It’s the very conclusion you’d deny: Government is the problem. And perpetually posing yourself as politically hysterical, power-mad, and merely contrary serves no purpose — which is why it serves the Democrat-Socialists, obviously.

Maybe you weren’t around here when the question was posed as to exactly what principle does underly liberalism.

  126. JHoward says:

so you deny we are in a sorry state or do you deny the Republican’s responsibility?

Not sure about that. Although the Giants are in free fall, the Panthers seem to be on the uptick. Cowboys defense is outstanding of late. Steelers have a great defense, but not much offense. Colts were somewhat less than impressive last night.

I stopped by to see what was going, noticed you had commented 35 times in the last ten minutes and knew you were all excited to beat up “trolls.” I come here and lo, what do I see? You’re here too. A little too much wine tonight, pal? Because you seem even more belligerent than usual. No brighter, just meaner.

  250. B Moe says:

I am fucked up, ass clown, argue with Maggie on her terms, I want to know why I should keep voting Democrat when after thirty fucking years they ain’t done shit but make drug laws tougher?

  251. assclown says:

B Moe – are you drawing a parallel between legalizing drugs and overturning RvW? Come on. How many votes have been cast on a Presidential or Senate candidate thinking they would help legalize drugs? What about overturn Roe v Wade?

  252. Obstreperous Infidel says:

BTW, I see this a lot from our trolls, but if 2006 and 2008 are “mandates” and crushing deathblows to republicanism, then what about 2000, 20002, 2004? Were those deathblows for democratism? I didn’t think so then, and I don’t think so now. The republicans haven’t run very many conservatives. THAT is the problem these last couple of years. You chumps still think that President Bush is a conservative. Bwuhahahhahahahaha!

  253. assclown says:

OI – it doesn’t matter what you or I think. Bush himself thinks he’s a conservative and historians are likely to record this. He’s a conservative, you betcha.

  254. B Moe says:

B Moe – are you drawing a parallel between legalizing drugs and overturning RvW?

No. I am drawing a parallel between legalizing drugs and not legalizing drugs.

I think drugs should be legalized, and I think what Levi’s mama does, and what Levi and Bristol do ain’t none of your or the governments business.

What part of that do you disagree with and why?

  255. JD says:

Ted – That you hate me makes not one bit of difference to me. You are a sad pathetic boy.

I do not drink, and am quite the good mood. A little troll infestation has brought an inordinate amount of bitterness and hatred into what is a fun lovin’ group around here, but other than that, life is good. I have an incredible job, 2 smart beautiful daughters, a loving wife that would make your jaw drop, my family is happy and healthy, I have a nice golf swing, and a house so big that your entire hippy commune would fit in 1/2 my basement. Life is good. Apparently, yours is not. Sorry.

  256. assclown says:

“What part of that do you disagree with and why?”

Uh. Nothing. Not following the threads closely I see.

  257. Big D says:

    OI,

Very good points. All lost on our current lot of trolls.

Bush is a conservative? It is to laugh.

  258. Big D says:

    JD,

Your own personal stalker? How’d you manage that?

  259. JD says:

Ted – So much hate. So much anger. Seek therapy. Get back on your Lithium. Listen to your caregivers.

  260. JD says:

Big D – This one ain’t the first. Though this one is not as creepy as some of the others. It is like bees being drawn to honey.

  261. B Moe says:

I have an incredible job, 2 smart beautiful daughters, a loving wife that would make your jaw drop, my family is happy and healthy, I have a nice golf swing, and a house so big that your entire hippy commune would fit in 1/2 my basement.

More importantly, I have a job that kind of sucks, no kids, no wife, not even a girl friend, and a crappy little apartment. But I have a couple of good friends, a cool cat, and my life is good, too. Because I don’t sit around wishing I was JD and thinking he must just be lucky to have all that cool shit.
I am were I am because this is where the decisions I made took me. I

  262. Obstreperous Infidel says:

assclown, no historians will examine his record and say, “what the fuck?”. Bush ain’t conservative, except in social issues. I mean, I don’t hate the guy as he has had a rather unique presidency, but governing as a true conservative? No fucking way. BTW, I’m betting O! will have a rather unique presidency, too. He will be challenged.

  263. JD says:

BMoe – Even on our very worst days, we are still happier than these trollz.

  264. JD says:

He will be challenged. Or, you could say he is challenged. His sycophants surely are.

Biden told us it will happen. Predicted it.

  265. JD says:

Good night, all. Except to the trollz. They should resume pleasuring themselves with a swordfish.

  266. assclown says:

OI – you’d better get that “Bush isn’t conservative” meme out the door faster because ain’t nobody heard about it but desperate wingers.

  267. Big D says:

Life is what you make of it, Bmoe. I remember, when I was in the Corps, sitting in the rain on a hillside in Spain. A place called Sierra Del Madre, which I believe is Spanish for “Miserable fucking place.” Anyway, we finally got our shelter halves up and my tent mate looked at me, now that we were dry, and said that life didn’t get any better than this. I replied “Then just shoot me now.”

Doesn’t matter where you are, just make the best of it.

  268. B Moe says:

BMoe – Even on our very worst days, we are still happier than these trollz.

Drives me nuts, man, the most blessed people in the history of the planet and all they can do is wallow around in their own self pity.

  269. Big D says:

“Drives me nuts, man, the most blessed people in the history of the planet and all they can do is wallow around in their own self pity”

It is all they know, B Moe.

  270. parsnip says:

    “God bless us, every one!”
    -Tiny Tim

    Group hug!

  271. B Moe says:

Who dares make fun of Dickens? My God man, have you no shame?

  272. Obstreperous Infidel says:

Whatever you hallucinate, assclown. Most libertarians/classical liberals that I know share the sentiment. “desperate”? Sounds kind of personal to me. George Bush did not govern as a conservative. If it’s desperate, it should be easy to refute.

  273. assclown says:

It’s “desperate” in the way you try to distance yourself from a horrible president. Like I said, sounds like the old commie motto about Communism never really being tried.

  274. Big D says:

    When did you say that?

  275. assclown says:

    upthread

  276. parsnip says:

Like it or not, George W. Bush and his record are stuck to the “conservatives” forever.

Covering your eyes doesn’t really make you invisible.

  277. Big D says:

I must have been ignoring you which I will now continue to do. You just go on believing that GWB is a conservative. BTW, your guy won, so what does it matter?

  278. parsnip says:

There’s always another election, Big D.

Bush’s stench will be costing the Republicans elections forever.

Speaking of which, Senator Al Franken, whoudda thunk it?

  279. Bush’s stench will be costing the Republicans elections forever.

just like Jimmy Carter and Dems… oh wait… um… Walter Mondale? no… gosh this history thing is tuff.

    heh*

  280. Big D says:

Okay parsip, just remember ’92 and what happened in ’94. Ebbs and flows.

Enjoy it while it lasts. It never does.

    Night all.

  281. J. "Trashman" Peden says:

Drives me nuts, man, the most blessed people in the history of the planet and all they can do is wallow around in their own self.

Especially now that the Messiah they elected has unsurprisingly turned out to be nothing short of a Commie-style Mobster, they’re necessarily forced right back to obsessively bemoaning the greatest injustice they can imagine: having been born, and therefore blaming anyone else for what it entails from that point on, according to the hallowed Progressive Fairy Tale and it’s random Dogma’s, which essentially speak to them as some of “The Voices” – the others emerging from their very own subrational and even chaotic “minds”.

Noting, though, that Obama will simply have to keep in place the only rock solid item He can cling to, the Conservative Bush policies relating to the wot. And I most certainly wish Him/us well in this regard.

  282. Big D says:

What am I thinking? Parsnip was 2 or 3 when Bill was elected. Of course he doesn’t remember. 2008 was his first Presidential election and hence, the most important ever. Well done lad!

  283. Mars vs Hollywood says:

Nothing is funnier, or more sad, than the beneficiaries of an unusually lucky political season believing themselves possessed of a permanent eternal majority.

The liberals of 1976 thought every Republican would be Nixon forever, too.

  284. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Ted Clark

    Oh, Christ. Another one.

    Buh-bye.

  285. JHoward says:

The extreme right always seems to have a religious quote handy to justify their horrible behavior.

Gosh, I find I really can’t decide if I prefer this to being regaled with tales of Russian hookers. Please lecture me on the Constitution too, Socialist?

  286. JHoward says:

All religions that worship an imaginary being are equally humorous to me, Darleen.

What was Jesus all about, parsnot? You’re on a roll.

  287. JHoward says:

BTW, the proof by winning fallacy always was my favorite. That and the one that goes if Republican = conservative then nanny government = constitutional.

  288. Jim in KC says:

Boy, that ass clown is a towering intellect, ain’t he? A true rhetorical giant. I bet all the other clowns are jealous. After all, how can they possibly hope to compete with such snappy repartee as “fuckwit?” Pure genius!

Ass Clown, can I subscribe to your newsletter?

Once again a thread devolves into a grudge match against the trolls in which there can be no winner.
Trolls are entropy at work, but instead of a universal steady state temperature, they endeaver to reduce the universe to a steady state of stupid.

  294. SDN says:

Actually, Rusty, arguing with the trolls does serve one purpose, and one only. When someone stumbles into PW looking for ‘dillo porn, we don’t want them to have the impression that because we don’t refute them they actually knew what they were talking about.

  295. Rusty says:

    SDN.
It’s just tiresome is all. It would be much simpler if they just numbered their arguements, if you want to call them that, thus saving valuable bandwith and much tedium. At lesat Lisa was an original. She is missed. Psycho as well.

Sara Palin is a gutsy broad. She got where she is on her own and hasn’t whined about it. I find that admirable. But then I admire that in anybody.

  296. MAJ (P) John says:

Another 300 comment thread ruined by troll-dom. C’mon folks, they keep bringing these threads down to a fairly low level of discourse.

Truth is you don’t have much chop capacity, Spiny, samd as all the other boys and girls who call for censorship and echo-chamber membershipping. Selection and exclusion of texts is the oldest trick of rhetoric. Attempting to exclude might help the feel good warmth in your diapers last longer but unless your ideas are thrown toward persons who can and may reject them then all your seeking is a cyber foot path for philistines.

“Ignore them!” “trollhammer them!” Always the verbal want of the ignorant – soft warm sand in which he/she may bury neck-deep their head.

Proffer a thought that’s less easily burnt to the ground for once, loser, instead of begging for mercy from reality’s nose-bouncing e-fists.

  307. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Mossberg500:

Vigorous, contentious debate is different from trolling.

At various times on this blog, I’ve butted heads with B Moe, sdferr, Major John, and many others. Never have I considered that trolling. What thor, nipply, semen, and others is completely different. They have no interest whatsoever in intellectually honest debate. Their sole purpose is to derail the conversation, become the center of attention, and waste the time of everyone else.

Registration would prevent the trolls from changing names at will (and using the names of other people) to evade Trollhammer.

Cue thor to start posting under my name, thus making my point.

  308. thor says:

sPies, long ago when I first busted your protective cup using my spinning death-to-bleaters ball kick you cried like a defenseless sissy. Things haven’t changed since then.

And you never posted under my name?

  309. serr8d says:

I’m not into membershipping either. I can’t stand LGF…the lizardroid ‘dingbats’ are not much better than their KOS or Atrios counterparts, at least not in threads where Charles gets into his anti-religion rants (but it’s not about bashing religion, it’s about bashing evil creationism!). You’d think he was Nishi’s daddy. And talk about knob-polishing followers..ding.bats.

A POS like thor just needs The Boss to come along and slap him down. Again. When Jeff isn’t around, thread owners need to delete inapporpriate comments..not those that further debate, but those that reek with slime.

Any thor post I’ve ever seen falls into that category.

And ass clown? Why is his stuff still visible? Lamb cannoneer indeed.

thor is allowed here, and where else? Not Ace’s, nor LGF, nor Patterico’s. He finds the only place that’ll not delete his crap on sight.

  310. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Hmm… why would the mere addition of registration turn the place into LGF? I don’t really see the connection.

I stopped posting in the pub when it became clear that thor had more time to excrete his droppings in my threads than I had time to spend on cleaning them up.

The difference is that my time is worth something, and thor’s time is worth nothing.

  311. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

thor, if you want me to see your crap, you’re going to have to steal someone else’s name again.

    Sorry.

  312. thor says:

  315. serr8d says:

Registration tends to be off-putting, at least for me. I’d rather read a free-flow of back and forth comments (with some gentle oversight) than a registered set of similar thinkers. There has to be a degree of kilter.

thor and his sorts abuse their privilege. That’s got to stop. He’s driving off decent people (Karl was worth 10,000 thors, and there’s no telling who else is missing because of thor’s sub-juvenilia) and curbing the free-flow of thoughtful interaction.

But, responding to his inanity drives comment counts. There’s a fine line trade-off somewhere in there I suppose.

  316. serr8d says:

So the daughter’s boyfriend’s mother is somehow involved in either the purchase or sale or possession of one of the best painkillers around which liberals have done their best to take off the market because of its effectiveness no doubt (libs seem to hate everything that’s effective, efficient, productive). Caroline Kennedy’s father was a pain killer addict who, were he not president, and under today’s puritanical drug enforcement laws, would probably be under arrest for his drug abuse. Caroline’s father was also a serial adulterer and had adulterous relations with a mob woman. So, if Gov Palin’s non relation to an alleged drug possessor/or dealer, is somehow scandalous or disqualifying (even though Gov Palin has RUN for office and won for sixteen years of her life-and was not seeking appointment by cronys), how would it not be scandalous or disqualifying for a person seeking political APPOINTMENT (not running for office) with such a shady background. Indeed, this is not to mention besotted Uncle Teddy who mysteriously found himself in a car with a drowning woman, which woman later mysteriously turned up dead. Does the name Mary Jo Kopeckne ring a bell. So uncle involved with woman’s death, or pain killer abuser non relative arrested, which tips the liberal’s alarm bells? We don’t have the space to go through all the Kennedy family’s sins/crimes/ pecadillos breaches of trust. So how about Uncle Robert’s illegal wiretapping of Martin Luther King? How about Uncle Robert’s sicing J Edgar Hoover and the FBI on such African American saint? Disqualifying.
How about if we substitute Bushitleralliburton as being the perpetrator? Would the libs consider that disqualifying, if a younger bush were up for appointment?
