The Prisoner’s Dilemma [Dan Collins]

Scandal-plagued Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich will not resign Monday, his spokesman said Sunday, but pressure to do so continued to grow on the governor to step aside before he is impeached.

The article goes on to say that one of Blago’s chief concerns is that he continue to draw a pension. Tip to Madigan: you can’ts shame what gots no shame.

Ask George Ryan how that pension thingie worked out…

Shame him? I do not think shame has anything to do with this. Gov. Blagojevich sees political offices as things of value – and they are. I think he is holding on to office as long as he can, like Kwame Kilpatrick, and bartering his resignation for a good deal with the prosecutors.

Regarding AG Madigan, I am certain she wants Blagojevich out of there as fast as possible (as does nearly everyone in Illinois government – state and municipal) because if they have to impeach him that becomes a public show, a matter of public record – like everything he would say. Same with a trial – everything becomes public record, and Blagojevich seems to me vindictive enough to tell every story he knows in order to drag as many down into ruin with him.

This has nothing to do with shame, this is anger on one side and utter fear on the other.

He better trim the Prince Valiant shag cut before he hits the big yard at Joliet lest somebody takes a liking to him.

I think Joliet was a state prison, bill, and was closed down a few years ago anyway.

It’d be Leavenworth for Rowdy Roddy.

  5. I think Kwame’s play was to try to keep his pension as well. Nice to know these guys are so principled.

    “Rowdy Roddy”

Piper played a guy who found the glasses that showed reality to him and everyone in “They Live”.

Will the Blago affair open eyes to the reality of Obama and Chicago politics? One can only “hope™”.

  7. Dean says:

Of course, someone just *had* to bring Obama into this. If there is dirty laundry, it will be found – but there are far too many haters, whiners and racists who just *know* that the only way Obama could win is through ‘Chicago politics’. Unlike Bush, of course, who did everything on the up and up…

Hey, Dean: can you explain why Obama lied at 3 minutes and 13 seconds into this video?

    Thanks!

  9. Mike says:

What a wholesale idiot! What kind of peanuts could he have squeezed out of a puppet senator anyways? Blagojevich deserves nothing short of crucifixion for violating the responsibilities of power.
