second presidential debate open thread

Me, I plan on using tonight’s debate as a drinking game: every time it occurs to me that PJM is paying someone other than me big bucks to liveblog this bitch, I’m going to do a shot of Ouzo and spank myself with any rolled up Victor Davis Hanson column I can dig up that mentions either Xerxes, Thrace, or Herodotus.

So. Let the games begin!

****
post mortem: Ed Morrissey: “Both men improve, McCain wins on points”

Jeff Goldstein: “Either Morrissey has been drinking too much, or I haven’t been drinking enough.”

After tonight’s debate, the American public will be convinced that healthcare is a “right”: “individual gun ownership”? Well, that’s something we can talk about.

McCain let Obama trample his dirty little socialist feet all over the Constitution and didn’t once stop to tell the little poser to take his shoes off.

As a result, the black marks he left behind will now become part of a “living” document. Interpret at will!

God help us all.

I’m putting together dinner and trying to catch up.

Obama is on full court cheating press… his brownshirts in Ohio have been rounding up every homeless vagrant, drunk, drug addict – from streets and shelters – and taking them to register/vote under their watchful eyes.

Early today, Stadlin’s van picked up William Woods, 59, at the soup kitchen of the Bishop Cosgrove Center.

“I never voted before,” Woods said, because of a felony conviction that previously barred him from the polls. “Without this service, I would have had no way to get here.”

    Chicago machine politics going national.

  3. alppuccino says:

I love the homeless voting image Darleen:

“hell no I don’t have any sandwiches in here! I helped you vote, now get the fuck out of the van!”

  57. Ana says:

Fannie Freddie here we FUCKING GO. Hit it again. He hits it again. Good.

  58. B Moe says:

Gloom! Doom! Vote for me! McCain is teh BIG LIE!

  59. zzzzzz, deregulation. he warned about this? really?

  60. ThomasD says:

    Obama wrote a letter.

    Ooooh.

Cause that’s the power that Senators have.

    Legislation?

    Nah, that’s just silly.

  61. Sdferr says:

This won’t wash, it is simply bullpucky.

  62. B Moe says:

Constituients right letters, jack ass. Senators write LEGISLATION! You were the one to do something about it!

If McCain lets him get by with this, fuck him.

  63. RDub says:

How does one deregulate a government run operation like FM/FM? Am I wrong or wouldn’t that lead to even less oversight?

“Not interested in pointing figures” right after he finishes having done so. Smoove, O.

  64. shank says:

BULLSHIT. Greenspan was Fed chair two years ago!!!

  65. Darleen says:

oh gawd, Barry with the “deregulation” canard

  66. Sdferr says:

Obama is lying should be the next words out of McCain’s mouth.

  67. Ana says:

This is the beginning of the PROCESS. It’s a PROCESS. We’re going to strengthen YOUUUUUU.

  68. shank says:

Yep, just as I thought. Bernanke wasn’t in until 2007 began. Linky: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Greenspan#Chairman_of_the_Federal_Reserve

  69. lee says:

I thought of buying a house, but I couldn’t make the payments so I didn’t.

    Does that count?

  70. Darleen says:

    McCain is much more conversational

  71. Darleen says:

“Senator Obama’s name is not on that letter”

  72. Ana says:

So now it’s the governments job to make sure I can pay my bills and stay in my home?

  73. SevenEleventy says:

    MSNBC declares Obama the winner!

  74. Sdferr says:

I think that was fairly weak on McC’s part.

  75. shank says:

Neither one of these guys have a grasp on economics that really inspires in confidence. DOH.

  76. Darleen says:

    Ms Finch… astroturf?

  77. B Moe says:

McCain needs to just bend over and drop them, Ric was right again. He is fucking clueless.

  78. Jeffersonian says:

Obama is on full court cheating press… his brownshirts in Ohio have been rounding up every homeless vagrant, drunk, drug addict – from streets and shelters – and taking them to register/vote under their watchful eyes.

That’s in Ohio. In Nevada, Baracky’s old pals are hiring them.

  79. lee says:

I wondered about that too shank.

Think it will be mentioned tomorrow?

  80. ThomasD says:

    Does that count?

No, I’m sorry apparently we only bail out the irresponsible.

Common sense will cost you every time.

  81. Darleen says:

Someone remind that audience that the dot com bust happened just as GW took office?

  82. Sdferr says:

Never had a surplus, projected merely. so fail. Deficit is not highest as a function of GDP, so FAIL.

  83. what is O! cutting? he couldn’t name anything in the last debate.

  84. Ana says:

George Bush. George Bush. George Bush. He’s not running and you aren’t answering her question.

  85. B Moe says:

The cuts are just a secret, like Lurch’s war plans.

  86. Matt, Esq. says:

cannot believe a god damn democrat is looking into the camera and claiming they’re going to cut spending.

    Its absurd. ABSURD !!!

  87. RTO Trainer says:

So what is it that O! is going to cut.

    Besides Defense, that is.

  88. RDub says:

“We’ve almost doubled our national debt. Clearly I should be given a blank check to dump another trillion into paying for everyone’s college, homes and good gov’t jobs.”

The man of a million mystery donations from Kenyan princes is concerned about lobbyists and special interests?

  89. Matt, Esq. says:

I’m taking a shot everytime Obama says “Bush.”

And that lady couldn’t spell bi-partisanship much less know wtf that means.

  90. B Moe says:

    FUCK YOUR BIPARTSANSHIP!

  91. shank says:

I like how he’s stumping for the budgetary watchdogs.

  92. lee says:

question; why should I trust you?

Obama: Let me tell you twelve things I promise to do.

  93. Darleen says:

    B Moe

I don’t care anymore. The triumvirate of Obama/Pelosi/Reid will put this country into a deeper Depression then I want to think about. Minimally, a divided government is better than that.

  94. ThomasD says:

This ‘buy up the bad mortgages’ is a horrific idea. Never mind that it’s a ginormous figure; we might as well kick California and Florida out of the Union first.

  95. Matt, Esq. says:

*The man of a million mystery donations from Kenyan princes is concerned about lobbyists and special interests?*

Yes if that will get him elected. He’d be for gay marriage for monkeys if it would get him elected.

  96. Ana says:

Now there’s an answer. ‘Go research it and you’ll see who spends money.’

  97. shank says:

    Brokaw is getting oooooold.

  98. B Moe says:

Dueling stump speeches. At least Biden was entertaining.

  99. Sdferr says:

Where is this question coming from Tom?

  100. Dueling stump speeches. At least Biden was entertaining.

um. yeah. maybe it’s the beer, though.

  101. Ana says:

Priorities?? C’mon. Iran is getting nukes. That’s a freaking priority.

  102. B Moe says:

I don’t care anymore. The triumvirate of Obama/Pelosi/Reid will put this country into a deeper Depression then I want to think about. Minimally, a divided government is better than that.

Turn the heat up fast enough the frog might have sense enough to jump out.

  103. ThomasD says:

The really sad thing is that these really are issues of substance – especially entitlement reform, but trying to explain them in a couple minutes is a fundamentally unserious approach.

  104. Matt, Esq. says:

Too late to replace McCain with Palin ? She’d have as much experience as the messiah.

  105. RTO Trainer says:

Almost. The correct answer on Medicare/Welfare, is “we started out with the best intentions, but we just can’t do it, so we’re going to phase it out over time so those who have grown up with this system don’t get dumped and those who have the time in their lives can adjust their plans accordingly.”

  106. Darleen says:

Obama doesn’t want to drill, so what is he gabbing about?

Oh…. back to the fantasy of being fossil fuel free in ten years… yeah right

  107. yeah, cause they haven’t been trying to find alternative fuels hard enough. *sigh*

  108. shank says:

I hate the ideas of a ten year plan run by the government to get us off oil. They always use NASA as an example. Look at NASA now!!

  109. ThomasD says:

Oh, the frog will be jumping in the next couple years. This is just the beginning of the troubles, we’ll have a serious currency crisis within the next two years – there is just no avoiding it.

  110. Sdferr says:

That is simply nonsense, ten years free of mideast oil, it’s a world market for crying out loud.

  111. lee says:

    Obama for line-item veto!

  112. thor says:

Barack makes McCain look so old and slow.

  113. dre says:

    I miss Joey Hairplugs

  114. Darleen says:

    B Moe

So, how many old folks are you going to allow to be bankrupted and tossed to the curb to make that frog jump?

  115. WELL THEN START CUTTING THEM OFF, TOM. GAWD.

  116. Sdferr says:

Tom asserts his asswholian bona fides.

  117. B Moe says:

God Forbid we actually discuss anything in fucking detail.
Fuck Brokaw and fuck this piece of shit debate.
I can’t watch this shit any more.

  118. lee says:

McCain is going to cut denfense!

    Up is down…

  119. Matt, Esq. says:

Why would you mention Ted Kennedy? John, you’re stuck on stupid.

  120. Sdferr says:

What happened to the townhall thinger?

  121. Darleen says:

    Spending freeze and cut programs

Does Obama EVER do anything like that?

  122. Ana says:

Some programs we’re going to have to eliminate. Some really good projects. Say it dammit.

  123. B Moe says:

So, how many old folks are you going to allow to be bankrupted and tossed to the curb to make that frog jump?

How far are you willing to compromise the freedom of those twins?

  124. Sdferr says:

    A lot of you?

  125. Mr. Pink says:

The spending freeze will never happen as long as there is a politician in Washington.

  126. Darleen says:

    9/11 is a TRAGEDY???

A hurricane is a tragedy…. 9/11 was a fucking act of WAR you dipshit

  127. RDub says:

Talk about a spending freeze, which morphs into increases that aren’t what people would expect (which is inevitably spun as a cut when that happens, of course).

“A lot of you remember the tragedy of 9/11”. Jesus. How did this hack make it out of Chicago?

  128. ThomasD says:

    Alot of you?

    How’s about maybe ALL?

  129. Matt, Esq. says:

“Alot of you remember the tragedy of 911.”

No shit. Thank you Obama Christ Superstar. He SHOULD be president.

Please somebody drop a house on his head.

  130. Teddy 08! says:

McCain seems old. Obama still says the “tragedy” of 9-11 (no one’s fault, of course!)

  131. thor says:

When’s the you’betc’cha chick gonna jiggle her tits and wink at the camera?

  132. shank says:

Obama’s not even answering the goddamn question.

  133. Pablo says:

Once again, this looks a lot better than it sounds on the radio.

  134. ThomasD says:

    Store nuclear energy?

  135. Matt, Esq. says:

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one outraged by that statement. I agree with Darleen and that should be McCain’s comeback.

Use em or lose em. Only the chosen one could rhyme while spitting knowledge. Get rid of Biden, put Puffy on the ticket as VP.

  136. geoffb says:

Clock time in these debates needs to be done like in chess matches.

  137. Sdferr says:

Oh here comes the corps call from Obama, the energy corps, the anti-oil corps, the anti-coal corps, the begger thy neighbor corps

  138. dre says:

F@@kin. liar O! Save this energy cocksucker

  139. RTO Trainer says:

Did O! just suggest auto tariffs?

  140. Darleen says:

    B Moe

How will my twins even know freedom when all the opposition is shut down by O/P/R?

My parents were kids during the Great Depression… I don’t want them to die during the 2nd one.

  141. Pablo says:

I’m going to ask you to check your tire pressure.

  142. dre says:

    The O! Corps!

  143. B Moe says:

I am 50 years old with a shitty job and virtually no savings, Darleen. If I voted strictly in my own best interest for the next twenty years, I would be voting Obama and getting on the gravy train. I have nieces and nephews I am thinking about, I know I am going to be working for a living until I die.

  144. Teddy 08! says:

Brokaw keeps complaining about time deficits. Is he the moderator, or not?

  145. Sdferr says:

Must take your money, for your own good of course.

  146. shank says:

The market’s already breaking those bad habits. Consumer debt shrank for the 1st time in ten years last month. Loans are gettng harder and harder to get. Not abnormally hard, just normal. Of course, spending was so fucked for the past 10 years that no one remembers what real loans look like.

  147. Darleen says:

he said “18 billion dollars” as if that’s chump change

  148. RTO Trainer says:

Yes, Ana. Like the ONE that is bankrupting us: Welfare.

  149. Ana says:

Fuel efficient cars, weatherizing homes…. Whaaaa?

  150. RTO Trainer says:

    That’s Social Security. Sorry.

    I blame the beer.

  151. Darleen says:

And class warfare creeps into the room

  152. lee says:

I hope McCain says people are just trying to get ahead, the problem is subprime loans.

  153. Mr. Pink says:

There will be no offshore drilling with Obama and a Democrat congress. Why does this fuck need to lie?

  154. Vladimir says:

    Nailing Jello to the wall!

  155. Sdferr says:

fully one quarter of the population pays no income tax, where is their input?

  156. Matt, Esq. says:

Can we pick which “corps” we wish to join? I’d like “stripper corps”- I try to talk those woman in better less demeaning jobs.

ooo jello to the wall. that one was pretty good.

  157. Darleen says:

    “nailing jello to the wall”

  158. RTO Trainer says:

Well Darleen, when you add up 18b here and 18b there it starts to add up to reeal money.

    BUT NOT UNTIL THEN.

  159. shank says:

I hate this class warfare shit. As my grandmother used to say – “Don’t count other people’s money!”

  160. Teddy 08! says:

Obama – unfair burden sharing. Love that phrase. That means that HE gets to decide who deserves to have what. You work hard and make a good income? Obama will take it from you to “fairly” spread the burden!

  161. RDub says:

Nice shot re: protectionism. That hasn’t been hit enough. I’d like it pointed out that even The One can’t give a tax break to “95% of Americans” when 95% of us don’t pay taxes.

  162. Matt, Esq. says:

heh did Mccain actually throw a hook ? Or does he just look pissed ?

  163. Ana says:

Small businesses. There we go. 50% increases.

  164. Darleen says:

“I got news for you Senator Obama, the news is bad”

  165. shank says:

    haha…tom’s trying to maintain order.

  166. Ana says:

Shank there’s a commandment for it: Thou shalt not covet.

  167. RDub says:

Different rules for The One! HE MUST RESPOND!

  168. thor says:

Somebody send McCain some hemorrhoid ointment. He seems grumpier than usual.

  169. B Moe says:

Every American a $5000 tax credit? Even the 50% that don’t pay taxes?

  170. ThomasD says:

Dang Brokaw lays down the law on whiny boy.

  171. Pablo says:

If I voted strictly in my own best interest for the next twenty years, I would be voting Obama and getting on the gravy train.

Nah, that wouldn’t work, B Moe. You seen yourself lately? You’re pretty pasty, my friend. And from the South.

  172. Ana says:

    Tom CUT HIM OFF!

  173. Matt, Esq. says:

“Tom, I’m going to need to ask you to bend/break the rules for me”

Its like Neo in the Matrix. Some rules can be bent. Others can be broken (for the One).

  174. Brokaw’s taking longer just to ask the freakin’ question.

  175. Darleen says:

THANK YOU, Tom for not allowing Obama to go back to the tax thing

someone send him a fruit basket

  176. shank says:

Can you imagine someone like Obama in charge of entitlements? Hahahaha, hoooooly shit.

  177. Darleen says:

OH FUCK OBAMA IS WEASELING BACK

  178. Darleen says:

and it’s the 95% FUCKING LIE AGAIN

  179. Ana says:

    Social Security and Medicare.

Obama: I can’t guarantee we’ll do it in the first two years and other tax policies have to be rape the rich first.

  180. lee says:

Straight talk express lost a wheel?

    fell flat.

  181. Darleen says:

LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE

Obama has NO clue about small businesses and HE DOESN’T CARE

  182. Teddy 08! says:

Entitlement programs eating up all our federal revenues. Obama says we can’t solve entitlements unless we TAX THE RICH! Does he not know that taxing the rich always, always ends up taxing the middle class?

  183. Darleen says:

    Obama = EAT THE RICH

  184. shank says:

    Fair? FAIR!?

Dude. Didn’t your parents ever tell you life’s not fair?

  185. lee says:

I love watching peoples eyes glaze over when Obama stutters numbers.

  186. FOR TEH FAIRNESS!

  187. B Moe says:

Is Obama a friggin’ mind reader? Is he not just saying McCain is going to do something McCain just said he wasn’t going to do?

  188. Matt, Esq. says:

    Obama can’t pull off “glib.”

    Articulate, yes. Glib, no.

I feel like I’m racist when I say that though =x

  189. Vladimir says:

My friends, My friends, My friends. Stop it already Sen. McCain.

  190. Vladimir says:

    My friends.

  191. shank says:

McCain – don’t bring up the record. That’s rascist.

  192. Sdferr says:

    Old habits die hard, Vlad.

  193. dre says:

    Another Obama supporter

  194. Vladimir says:

Ingrid Jackson wants to know why we are killing the planet.

  195. Darleen says:

Are we only going to have questions on the economy?

  196. Mr. Pink says:

Any adult that uses the word fair when applying to anything other than law or sports desereves to be smacked in the face.

  197. RTO Trainer says:

    Damn Aged Planet!

  198. RDub says:

Gah. Climate change and green jobs. You want green? Shovel bullshit, plenty of it about to hit here.

  199. Matt, Esq. says:

    Green jobs ??

BUSH ! drink !! wait, does it count if McCain says Bush ?

  200. Darleen says:

    OK… NUKE POWER! Yes

  201. Vladimir says:

My friends. Sen. McCain needs to take a break with that for at least one round.

  202. Darleen says:

I’ll put up with green talk if it gets us to NUKE POWER

  203. Ana says:

Well if the FRENCH do it….

  204. Matt, Esq. says:

datadave’s drunk 30 mins in. If my candidate was Obama, I’d be drunk by now too.

  205. thor says:

Someone send Grumps McCain a blender and a straw so he can eat his words without choking.

  206. RDub says:

5 million new green jobs? Horseshit.

  207. Darleen says:

    Obama “new energy”

What is it, Barry? The computer wasn’t invented in ten years, dipshit.

  208. Sdferr says:

Government is always the answer to every question. Gack

  209. Vladimir says:

Finally the camera gives equal time to the back of Obama’s head too.

  210. Matt, Esq. says:

Yes lets waste our money on wind power instead of building nuclear plants. Good call. Money well spent.

  211. N. O'Brain says:

    Investments?

    Don’t make me laugh.

  212. shank says:

This debate is going nowhere for some reason. They seem to be going in circles.

  213. Ana says:

Wind, solar, geothermal. Is he T-Bone Pickens???? I thought he was an old white guy.

  214. lee says:

Oh good. They’re going to try and out Kyoto each other.

  215. RTO Trainer says:

I think Obama just dissed the Homebrew Computer Club.

  216. RDub says:

Why would you vote against alternative fuels mean ol’ John? I mean – they’re “alternative”. It’s like change! Change fuel!

  217. Darleen says:

Obama backing away from oil drilling

    schmuck

  218. Mr. Pink says:

I love how they say that McCain voted against alternative energy. Doesn’t that just mean he voted against my money being used to fund a fuckin wind far??

  219. MikeD says:

This debate and this campaign is like the Iraq/Iran war. It is too bad they both can’t lose. What mealy mouthed, ignorant assholes they both are. McCain lost it tonight and we will suffer the disaster of an Obama administration. Two false giants, surrounded by real dwarfs!

  220. Sdferr says:

    Magic dust!

  221. shank says:

One coal-powered plant a week? What are they, scal models Barack?

  222. Ana says:

3% using 25% so drilling won’t work. What a bunch of shit. Obama you suck at math.

  223. Darleen says:

    manhattan project vs silicon valley??

  224. N. O'Brain says:

    “should we fund?”

    No.

  225. Matt, Esq. says:

The One is stumbling when he’s trying to spew stats.

What kind of retarded question was that. I’d have to ask him to repeat the question in a language less drunk.

  226. Sdferr says:

Government government government we fund we fund we fund Gack fucking gack

  227. RTO Trainer says:

    Obamzilla versus King ‘Cain.

    Oh, no. There goes Kyoto….

  228. Mr. Pink says:

    WTF IS THIS QUESTION?????????????????

  229. Vladimir says:

    Investments?

    Don’t make me laugh.

    You’re not worthy of laughter.

  231. MC says:

I don’t know if I can do this… Sarah Palin made the best case for energy independence the other day…

  232. Ana says:

Drill here, drill now. You frigging bet it will make the price go down.

  233. Sdferr says:

Government is ruinous, it is not that complicated a concept.

  234. N. O'Brain says:

    I hate these things.

  235. Vladimir says:

Obama thinks health care is a right.

  236. shank says:

Oh, a healthcaare question. Watch this, Obama HATES healthcare orgs.

  237. B Moe says:

Do you believe healthcare should be treated as a commodity? Are you kidding me?

  238. MikeD says:

John McCain sounds like an old-time southern politician: ” My friends, and YOU ARE my friends.” I think I’m going to be sick. The hell with the rest of the “debate”, I’m going to drink!

  239. MC says:

Health Care as a commodity? Gosh, that’s a question with a bit of conservative bent to it…

  240. Darleen says:

Oh come on, Barry, is health care a “right” or not?

  241. ThomasD says:

    c’mon Obama, just say it.

Socialized medicine. It’s what she wants to hear.

  242. Sdferr says:

    Is a service a commodity?

  243. RTO Trainer says:

Pink–they have the questions printed at the bottom of the screen on C-Span.

  244. Mr. Pink says:

If McCain loses we are looking at Obama’s plans to spend all our money on magic fairy dust and shitty health care. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  245. shank says:

Government run healthcare would RUIN healthcare. I’ve been watching government do that to healthcare my whole career with state-run programs. gaaaaaaaaaaaaa…

  246. Vladimir says:

Obama possesses the magic wand of the unlimited budget to buy everyone with his magical solutions to everything.

  247. Darleen says:

uh…when was the last time Barry was in a hospital… THEY ARE ON COMPUTERS

  248. RTO Trainer says:

Tricare for everyone! You civilians are in for a TREAT!

  249. MC says:

Commodity? Yes! Same for everyone! I want to stand in line for years waiting for the collectivist commodity of health care to take care of me! Specialists? We don’t need no stinking specialists. It’s all the same thing, health care is easy!

  250. Ana says:

How does putting my health record on a computer save money?? How?

  251. Mr. Pink says:

RTO it was a rhetorical question. I do not see the value of asking a question “Do you agree that we need to get rid of oil, or do we need to get rid of oil now”

  252. ThomasD says:

Heh, I used to work for the Indian Health Service. No health and no service.

  253. Blitz says:

    shutup thor

  254. Darleen says:

The employer based healthcare system SUCKS because if artificially interfers with the market.

  255. Teddy 08! says:

Obama will have the government force insurance companies to cover despite pre-existing conditions? And he expects to reduce costs? Is he insane?

  256. Mr. Pink says:

    Fuck Tom Brokaw.

  257. N. O'Brain says:

    Comment by thor on 10/7 @ 7:49 pm #

    Pitiful, just pitiful.

Like I’ve pointed out before, thor is so stupid he can even come up with an original insult.

But then he’s an Obama supporter.

    What do you expect?

  258. ThomasD says:

I’ve worked at a VA hospital too. The VA is the Mayo clinics compared to the IHS.

  259. shank says:

Because nationalized healthcare has worked SO great in Canada. They just fucking love that shit, don’t they?

  260. Mr. Pink says:

Oh yeah RTO FUCK TRICARE TOO.

  261. Sdferr says:

Oh let’s do “impose” efficiencies, by all means!
Achtung, chucko, step out of that line there.

  262. RTO Trainer says:

    Tom’s NOT WAVING!

  263. B Moe says:

I think we need a government clearing house for healthcare, we can call it Franky Doc.

  264. Matt, Esq. says:

Was that a dig at “Plugs” Biden ? Cause if so, it was well done. =0

  265. RTO Trainer says:

  266. tom complains in 3…2…

  267. Darleen says:

    right, privilege or responsibility

    wtf?

  268. B Moe says:

How does putting my health record on a computer save money?? How?

They don’t have to buy a filing cabinet. D’uh.

  269. Matt, Esq. says:

There we go. Its a right.

    /waves socialism.

  270. lee says:

    Obama will fine you.

Republicans are the carrot, dems the whip.

We are the sorry jackasses sloughing those bloated fucks around.

  271. Darleen says:

Obama…. “health care is a RIGHT for every American”

    Yep…. communist right there

  272. B Moe says:

He said it, you have the right to the service of others.

  273. Ana says:

    Helathcare is a right, eh?

    NOT.

  274. Blitz says:

a “RIGHT”? goodbye my old friend…no need for a Constitution amymore

  275. Sdferr says:

Was that a made up story there about mom?

  276. Matt, Esq. says:

It sounded like the crowd gasped when he answered the question that way. Was it my imagination ?

  277. RDub says:

Wonder if that thing about his mother is true. I’ve got “Dreams of My Father” about 10 feet away over on the coffee table but trying to slog through that self-congratulatory mess makes me dream of bottles.

  278. ThomasD says:

The Second Amendment is a right. Is Obama gonna fund my firearms needs? Cause it’s pretty damn extensive.

  279. MC says:

It’d be nice if Obama would catch on fire when he lies.

  280. Mr. Pink says:

WTF WE HAVE A NEW RIGHT NOW?????? I can’t watch this shit it is giving me a fuckin headache.

  281. Darleen says:

    oooooo oooo

  283. Ana says:

It’s not the government’s right to interfere with healthcare. Butt out.

  284. RTO Trainer says:

    I’m wiht ThomasD.

  285. Darleen says:

His mom did die of cancer, I’m not sure of the circumstances

  286. Sdferr says:

Yep, RTO, he’s a slick one that BHO

  287. shank says:

There’s a kid in the front row, wearing a black/white/grey striped ties and glasses. He looks bored out of his fucking mind. Looks like he’s got a question card in his hand. They’re going ot have to wake his ass up if they want him to ask it.

  288. Darleen says:

    Obama

    “I am you Nanny Superior”

  289. MC says:

Delaware! I’m Joe Biden and I deregulated that message.

  290. Ana says:

    MC–Ka-boom.

  291. dre says:

    “They go to DELAWARE”

  292. shank says:

Peacemaker? Are we on guns already?

  293. Darleen says:

“did we find out about the fine?”

  294. Matt, Esq. says:

I’m confused about which Article of the Constitution indicates health care is a right.

Article O ?? WTF. But Obama is going to cut our taxes. My god he’s got balls to just lie like that.

  295. Vladimir says:

    Act as a “peacemaker” ?

Tell me that guy isn’t a Kucinich supporter.

  296. MC says:

Isn’t universal health care in the bill of rights? No? Who’d a thunk it…

  297. RTO Trainer says:

You make Peace by making deserts.

  298. ThomasD says:

Thanks RTO, I need a Ma Deuce.

It’s for my mental wellbeing, you see.

  299. Sdferr says:

Actually I think peacemaker is a term of art in this context, and a reasonable one at that.

  300. Darleen says:

YES…. we have to pick and choose our fights abroad…

  301. Blitz says:

Ok, so far? from the gallery, I’ve seen teh gay, teh black (yes I denounce myself) and teh stoopid. Plants?

  302. Matt, Esq. says:

He should have pulled out the line from Serenity “If you can’t do something smart, do something right…”

  303. Mr. Pink says:

No response to our new right by McCain???

  304. geoffb says:

    Fucking Senators. Blah-blah-blah.

That guy over in the other seat is your enemy, not your buddy. Call him out. Point at him and say what a corrupt bastard he is. Show some life, some fire.

Be a DA doing his closing in a serial killer case. That guy in that seat is Manson, fork him.

  305. you don’t understand because you’re ignorant. There weren’t AQ camps in Iraq? dumbass.

  306. Ana says:

He was really good on that Peacemaker question. Now Obama is whining.

  307. shank says:

Watch Obama not answer the question. Brokaw asked about the economic constraints on military strategy. Obama doesn’t know jack SHIT about that.

  308. lee says:

Obama just admitted he doesn’t understand.

  309. RDub says:

“how we invaded a country that had nothing to do with 9/11″…but I thought 9/11 was a tragedy. You know, like a lighning strike or cancer.

  310. Darleen says:

Oh fuck… “Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11”

Yes, Barry, tell us how much better the world would be with Saddam and his evil spawn still in power.

  311. Sdferr says:

McC must respond to this pile of shit about the Iraq theater.

  312. mention the Ferris Wheel! please!

  313. B Moe says:

Here we go again. Anyone who doesn’t understand Iraq sure as hell doesn’t need to be in the White House. This fucking election is driving me schizoid.

  314. Mr. Pink says:

I am still confused. Who gets to make up these new rights? I want the right to punch politicians I disagree with in the face. Someone give me that.

  315. shank says:

So obama jus said he would pay for all his programs by cutting the defense budget. Duly noted.

  316. Pablo says:

Uh, is this idiot not familiar with the Depression and WWII?

  317. ThomasD says:

Nah, let that 9/11 – Iraq crap pass. There are no minds to be changed on that subject.

  318. shank says:

    BUSH!! Shots all around!

  319. Blitz says:

thor? I’m sorry I didabled trollhammer for tonight. My previous offer stsnds

  320. RTO Trainer says:

Or pick and chose which broads we fight….

  321. Ana says:

Don’t tell us how the war is busting the budget. Prescription drug program, medicare, medicaid, and social security are busting the frigging budget Senator Right-to-Healthcare.

  322. Darleen says:

Obama Doctrine use of force…… BWHAHAHAHAH

  323. shank says:

Oooooh. There’s a decent-lookin blonde sitting in the top row behind brokaw. Nice skirt-suit, RAWR.

  324. Mr. Pink says:

How about the new right to a 12 pack in every fridge. Fuck the chicken and the pot it came in.

  325. Matt, Esq. says:

oh bs Obama we know you can be everywhere at all times.

  326. Darleen says:

Barry Doctrine… as long as we go somewhere where it will NEVER HELP America, that would be ok

  327. Sdferr says:

    Blithering.

  328. Blitz says:

Pablo? this idiot has already said he’d do a line item veto AND thet healthcare is a right…No, he doesn’t understand

  329. Sdferr says:

God damn it. What a pussy McC is not defending the decision to get Saddam.

  330. Pablo says:

Where is that mean old man that’s supposed to be John McCain? Bring the heat, Grandpa!

  331. Ana says:

We can use troops to stop ethnic cleansing and genocide but not when Saddam Hussein is killing his people. These fine distinctions….

  332. Darleen says:

“Temper decisions with the ability to beneficially affect the situation”

  333. RTO Trainer says:

I wonder if O! has ever glanced at a map of Darfur?

  334. shank says:

Dude. They should of just had a dunk contest. This is not very interesting fellas, take the gloves off.

  335. Matt, Esq. says:

*How about the new right to a 12 pack in every fridge.*

Now THAT’S change we can believe in.

  336. ThomasD says:

Katie has no clue that hot pursuit is part of international law.

  337. Darleen says:

    Barry is saying Paw-KEE-stawn again

  338. dre says:

    Iraq =Pakeestan

  339. Sdferr says:

Again. and again and again. McC simply has given away the game.

  340. *sigh* because AQ wasn’t leaving A-stan to go to Iraq…. Saddam wouldn’t have put up with that crap. except for Zarkawi.

  341. shank says:

    pock-ee-stahn.

  342. Darleen says:

Barry…. let’s surrender in Iraq so we can then surrender in Afghanistan

  343. lee says:

Oh fuck… “Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11″

It had everything to do with the invasion of Afghanistan.

  344. Pablo says:

We should have invaded Pakistan. Or perhaps not, since bin Ladin was sipping tea in Kabul when we went into Iraq in 2003.

    History a la Lewis Carroll.

  345. RTO Trainer says:

Osama is a red herring. Obama is just a Red.

  346. B Moe says:

We can’t coddle a dictator like we did? What the fuck is Obama talking about?

  347. we can’t give Pakistan money, but we need to give them money for peacekeeping…

  348. shank says:

Alright McCain. Make it count here buddy…

  349. Blitz says:

Al Queda is stronger than anytime since 2001? Ok, I guess he’s talking about the virgins, ‘cus we keep killing them in droves…

  350. Sdferr says:

Either there was a viable strategy at the beginning of the war or there was not. If we were pursuing the right strategy then it must be defended. If not, McC validates Obama’s prewar idiocy.

  351. B Moe says:

    Let them go, Tom. Jesus.

  352. Darleen says:

Obama wants the last word… bitch

  353. shank says:

Jesus Christ. no one is controlling the discussion here. WTF is going on?

  354. MC says:

Tom’s doing a great job – because he let’s Obama do what he wants…

  355. ThomasD says:

    Brokaw bends to Obama’s will.

    Big surprise there.

  356. I didn’t say I’d invade Pakistan, but I will if we need to.

  357. Pablo says:

Baracky said boots on the ground. Baracky is lying.

  358. B Moe says:

We need to go into Pakistan without invading, I think you can do that if you are riding on unicorns.

  359. Sdferr says:

That’s wet behind the ears, Barry, and yes, you are.

  360. Ana says:

Green behind the ears. I like this.

  361. shank says:

This is like watching an old married couple go tit for tat on all the little things that the other has done over the years that got under their skin. LOL. American politicians.

  362. thor says:

McCain is too soft in the head to lead this country.

    Johnnie just got pantsed!

  363. Darleen says:

Clue to Barry… Pakistan is an ally and IRAN and NORTH KOREA ARE ENEMIES!! You CAN joke about bombing them, bastard!

  364. B Moe says:

He said it again, Musharref was a dictator. Jesus McCain, will you kick his fucking punk ass?

  365. Blitz says:

And killing him would end the WOT? hell yes!!! all those folks would just give up and go home

Yeah, and I have a great sub-prime loan for you.

  366. Matt, Esq. says:

Hrm McCain just negotiated himself a free comeback. That was clever.

Did the One just say “bomb bomb Iran”. The mind boggles.

  367. RTO Trainer says:

See, that’s the Obama Doctrine. Rapidly haul a carcass out of a cave in the Tribal Areas, declare it Obama’s morla remians and announce winning the GWOT followed by rapid withdrawl to Fortress America, where the military will be cut off at the knees so it can’t be “misused” again.

    Everybody WINS!

  368. Ana says:

Not going to telegraph my punches. Thank you.

  369. Jeff G. says:

This is what happens when there’s no conservative candidate on the ticket. Can’t we do these things like duels? McCain could name Fred Thompson as his second, then fake a hamstring pull.

Saving that, turn out the lights, the party’s over.

  370. lee says:

    Pakistan is a friend=don’t threaten

    Iran is an enemy=threaten vigorously.

    No comparison.

    Obama is green.

  371. Matt, Esq. says:

I want to put on the record, I would be pro-unicorns for our troops. With magical horns. And balloon fences, if the technology is there.

  372. shank says:

    Tahleebahn.

  373. Mr. Pink says:

Yeah I have to agree Jeff. The minute the Republican on the ticket lets slide that we have a new right just because a Democrat says so the game is over.

  374. JHoward says:

I really had little idea what an arrogant liar O! was until tonite. How did we end up running this preener for POTUS?

  375. B Moe says:

Doing what exactly? How many troops? What kind? Where? Show what a fucking idiot he is, John!

  376. lee says:

Oh great, Obama just told the Taliban US forces are “desperate”.

  377. RTO Trainer says:

Oh. Karzai is now just as irresponsible and out of touch as the Democrats have been accusing the Iraqis of being for the last three years.

Way to make us more respected.

  378. shank says:

Laser-guided Unicorns ridden by care bears armored in HAPPYJOY and throwing CUDDLE GRENADES.

  379. MC says:

Jeff, I’d favor some fisticuffs right now. Both of them would look better with shiners for the rest of the debate…

  380. Jeff G. says:

And we ran him against McCain, no less.

    The Perfect Storm.

What I wouldn’t do for a President Hillary about now.

  381. JHoward says:

I don’t know, Jeff, I’m more impressed with McCain than I expected. O! has him on youth, height, color, and well, those three things.

  382. What I wouldn’t do for a President Hillary about now.

    I tried!

  383. ThomasD says:

I suspect Hillary is damn happy to be out of it at this point.

  384. MC says:

    Putin…. he’s like Obama!

  385. B Moe says:

Fuck it. Palin in 2012. Four years of Obama hiding under the desk fondling himself and Palin could win in a landslide.

I just don’t think Obama/Pelosi/Reid is competent enough to do any real damage.

  386. Matt, Esq. says:

Wish he’d stop pulling out that quote. “KGB”. Is that maybe an attempt to appeal to the folks who were politically aware during the cold war ?

  387. shank says:

Naked aggression is awesome. It has held my marriage together over the years.

  388. Darleen says:

How did we end up running this preener for POTUS?

    Alinsky, Ayers, Daley, Rezko, Soros

Obama is their student and their boy.

  389. JHoward says:

O!’s grasp on international affairs is nonexistent. McCain understands strong diplomacy and the Russian Bear. Easy freaking choice.

Unless you’re pandering to teenagers about green policy and free medical “care”.

  390. Sdferr says:

Can you talk about the economic weakness in Russia, John? Oh, fail, too late.

  391. Bob Reed says:

    Still no A-bombs yet…But there’s still time…

Mav’s been a lot tougher, but O! has gotten away with some smooooooooth lies…

  392. Matt, Esq. says:

*What I wouldn’t do for a President Hillary about now.*

    Jesus wtf.

THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU! THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!

  393. Darleen says:

    B Moe

Barry is the bastard child of Jimmy Carter and LBJ

  394. Bob Reed says:

Drop the bomb, Mav, Drop the bomb…

  395. MC says:

Obama: We gotta give money to foreign governments! Us: Where’s it going to some from O? Obama: Your damn pocket, you whacked out capitalist.

  396. Pellegri says:

    Pocky-stan.

    Mmmm, Pocky.

I was downstairs long enough to listen to the health care smarm and wanted to rip O’s face off. OLOLOL LET’S OVERSEE HEALTH CARE MORE BECAUSE THAT WILL FIX IT

No, you retard, that’s why people can’t get the coverage they need because litigation and gov’t “oversight” has been forcing cost-cutting and CYA policies.

  397. ThomasD says:

I just don’t think Obama/Pelosi/Reid is competent enough to do any real damage.

Oh don’t be so sure. Cruise control is not an autopilot.

  398. B Moe says:

    Alinsky, Ayers, Daley, Rezko, Soros

Oh, damn. I almost forgot about those guys.

    Fuck you, McCain.

  399. Ana says:

Financial assistance for Estonia. Did he just say that? Because I’m already paying for some fat bastards right to healthcare and geothermal energy….

  400. geoffb says:

If I didn’t know better I’d swear I’m watching the US Senate debate some utterly inane bill.

Don’t talk about the bill, how your version is better.

Your opponents jugular is exposed for a second, stick the knife in and twist.

  401. Blitz says:

Darleen? ‘WE” didn’t they did. they ,eaning the last 40 years of attempting to bring socialism onto our shores.

  402. Darleen says:

Hello, earth to Barry… there hasn’t been another “9/11 tragedy” on American soil.

  403. Bob Reed says:

Accusing Mav of not being worried about catching Bin Laden…

Drop the bomb, Mav, Drop the Bomb…

  404. JHoward says:

And…I’ll second myself on O!’s arrogance. And windiness. Chicago boy much?

What a fart in the ozone. Poseur. Preener. Waves his little hands a lot. So pretty too.

    I say elect the guy.

  405. Blitz says:

meaning. Sorry, cat on or near keyboard

  406. Sdferr says:

I put out a statement that if Obama is elected President we’re in for a great deal of otherwise avoidable trouble.

Oh good, there it is again and again and again, the McC fail to defend the overarching strategy we embarked on.

  407. Ana says:

    Evil Empire question.

    What. Is. That?

  408. Bob Reed says:

    Russia=more eeeeeeevil than the RethugliKKKans!!11!!eleventy!1!11!

  409. RTO Trainer says:

If unicorns aren’t available, how about this?

  410. Blitz says:

    Get this guys name

  411. Bob Reed says:

Well, the O! may think that the RethugliKKKans are more eeeeeeeevil

  412. geoffb says:

    Russia evil? Maybe?

That was the jugular, gone now.

  413. Matt, Esq. says:

oh wow israel. Chief petty officer.

Wonder if Obama has a global test moment coming up ?

  414. MC says:

Defend Israel! Whoa! Excellent question… Get ’em Mac

  415. Pellegri says:

And every time I hear him say Taliban I think “come mister taleehbahn, tally me banana.”

Yeah, I wanna go home pretty bad. sane government plz.

  416. shank says:

    Experienced NCO’s are the shit.

  417. Darleen says:

Ok… McCain will NOT wait on the UN Security council

    Barry…?

  418. Ana says:

Ayers. Just say it. Someone say Ayers.

  419. RTO Trainer says:

A Putin/Obama dialog would at least be able to begin with a fundamental agreement: “The US is the problem.”

  420. JHoward says:

And…McCain just lobbed a slow outside pitch about something this child sharing the stage with him can’t even begin to hit: Israel’s security, the WWIII Question.

Knife. In. Twist. Do it, John.

  421. B Moe says:

LBJ had turds smarter than Obama. He also had some serious politicians backing him in Congress.

  422. Darleen says:

    “League of Democracies”

    OMG!! Yes!

  423. Ana says:

Without precondition. A matter of record.

    Well thank you.

  424. shank says:

The guy standing next to the Navy ret. looks like he could be his brother…. whoa.

  425. JHoward says:

O! can do nothing here but agree with McCain. Poseur. Liar.

  426. Bob Reed says:

Ruh-Roh…Iran is on the table…Here we go with O! meeting with Dinner-Jacket, unconditionally…

Mav imply’s that hell nuke Iran if they strike Israel

  427. Blitz says:

cough cough…I’m choking on my answer.

    Barry O

  428. B Moe says:

If unicorns aren’t available, how about this?

That looks more like what you been bombing civilians with.

  429. Sdferr says:

Didn’t you mean to say our only ally in the world there, Barry?

  430. Darleen says:

    Barry is twisting

  431. Matt, Esq. says:

Did he just say “game changer”

Sir, this is not a game.

  432. ThomasD says:

No need to imply anything. It is the stated policy of the US to nuke anyone who nukes an ally.

  433. Darleen says:

Oh… alternative energy is going to keep Iran from attacking Israel

    rrriiiiiiiiiiggghhhhttt

  434. Bob Reed says:

O! is sounding tough, but starting to equivocate about relying on sanctions…

Like they’ve worked over the last 8 years

  435. B Moe says:

Cause nobody but us buys oil from Iran. Goddamit McCain will you rub this puppies nose in this shit?

  436. shank says:

Energy consumption? It all boils down to energy consumption? You fucking TWIT. The question was about an immediate escalation. Not how do you prevent it. How would you react if this happened Jan 2?? Jesus.

  437. Darleen says:

    “There will be consequences”

    NO SOUP FOR YOU

  438. lee says:

    Is Obama teaching 2nd graders?

    He sounds like it.

  439. Ana says:

Rejoin the community of nations. Yeah. That’s what they want. Very motivating.

  440. shank says:

Obama has no clue how to handle immediate world crises.

  441. Matt, Esq. says:

You’re kidding. No Bill Ayres questions at all ? Oh yeah, nobody wants to hear the One address that issue ?

  442. B Moe says:

Oh for God’s sake, we are fucked.

  443. Bob Reed says:

So as long as we have electric cars, No one will buy Iran’s oil…

In the same universe as Ayers being a great American

  444. JHoward says:

Surely he feels he is, lee…

  445. Blitz says:

Ummm…it’s my understanding that thr NOKOs did that during the Clinto admin. Am I wrong?

  446. shank says:

What don’t you know, Obama? Watch this anti-answer. Should be fun.

  447. ThomasD says:

Obama thinks he being self deprecating with the Michelle crap. He’s not, he calling his wife a harpy.

He has no idea how many husbands that pisses off.

  448. Ana says:

What don’t you know and how will you learn it.

Thank you for stupid shit, Tom.

  449. MC says:

Gaack! Obama is such a joke!

At least we can rely on his utter dependence on Michelle…

  450. shank says:

He’s telling us what he knows. Thanks for the answer Obambi. Are you even in the same debate? Or are you just answering questions that you make up as you go?

  451. Matt, Esq. says:

He’s ad libbing and drowning in a sea of weeping. Food stampss !!!

  452. dre says:

    Fuck You Affirmative Action Asshole

  453. Bob Reed says:

A single Mom, and a bank VP for my racist Granny that raised me…in Hawaii…

    Please Mav, Drop the Bomb!

  454. JHoward says:

Ah, O!’s socialism is personal. Now everything falls into place. Yeah, screwed doesn’t begin to describe it.

  455. B Moe says:

    Is Obama teaching 2nd graders?

    He sounds like it.

That is his base, thanks to Ayers education reforms. Have you not noticed the level the trolls communicate?

  456. Darleen says:

Obama’s mama was getting food stamps and welfare so she could go to graduate school

SOME ONE ELSE WAS PAYING FOR BAMA MAMAs post grad education…and he’s NOT ashamed?

  457. Sdferr says:

Run us down Barry, finish where you started.

  458. Bob Reed says:

Are we gonna pass on the American Dream???

Which one is that, Chicago, or the real America…

  459. MC says:

What do we expect with such a soft-serve question. That’s the last one of the debate? FU Brokaw…

  460. Ana says:

What same dream? The American Food Stamp and Right of Healthcare Extraordinary Journey Dream???

  461. B Moe says:

Bullshit, John. I am still way better off than I was under Ford and Carter.

  462. ThomasD says:

Obama finished weak. McCain is finishing strong. That’s gonna stay with people.

  463. shank says:

At least McCain is answering the question on what he doesn’t know. Obama just stood up there and riffed himself down the rabbit hole of irrelevance.

  464. JHoward says:

Boom. John busts the final answer. O! is a child.

  465. Blitz says:

Fixed. The whole fucking thing was fixed towards His Lordship. No questions about his past, no questions about just HOW the hell he’ll do whatever the bloody hell he says he woill.

So, I guess it’s Unicorns and Lollipops for all!!

  466. Sdferr says:

Schrummian bloviation folks, been hearing it for years.

  467. shank says:

And FWIW, McCain’s telling the truth. In society, on wall street; as pessimism and acrimony take hold, the only things we have are each other. Ask anyone who survived and raised a family during the Depression.

  468. RTO Trainer says:

Should have finished with “and I have no idea at all, ever, what Senator Obama ever thought he was doing hanging out with that fucking terrorist, William Ayers. Thank you.”

  469. Jeff G. says:

McCain was always the wrong choice. Like I’ve said all along, I’ve never really had a candidate in this election. The Palin pick gave me hope, but in the end, McCain is McCain.

    There’s a reason he’s never been President.

  470. Obama just stood up there and riffed himself

yeah, he has a tendency to do that. you can sometimes see the “where was I?” look in his eyes.

  471. MC says:

Good that McCain finished last – he did that very well…

  472. RTO Trainer says:

    it’s Unicorns and Lollipops

    And Basselopes.

  473. JHoward says:

He’s the Entitled One, Darleen. Ask not what you can do for your country; it’s what’s for breakfast for the next four…

  474. Bob Reed says:

No fissile material…Some conventional hits, and on target no less; still, no nukes…

I’m kinda dissapointed, but I still think Mav did well…

  475. Blitz says:

The MSM picked him Jeff, NOT us

  476. shank says:

RTO- I would’ve snorted my beer through my nose is McCain said that. LOL

  477. lee says:

I think team McCain might want a little more public exposure for Ayres before he hits Obama with it. The next debate on the 15th, everyone will have heard of him.

    I hope.

  478. Sdferr says:

Nope, that’s a major fail for McCain in my view. He doesn’t get it, he hasn’t gotten it, he shows no signs of picking it up in the future. Bummer.

  479. RTO Trainer says:

In fairness, Jeff, he’s only tried for President once before. His whole gerenation’s got a problem though–not one of them mounted a serious campaign until the WWII vets were done.

  480. shank says:

OH SHIT. First commercial after the debate??? Obama ad.

  481. ThomasD says:

Stong close for McCain. I’m wondering if he, or an adviser read this recently

The fundamental question of this election is going to be, ‘as we head into really challenging times, which man reassures you?’

    http://tinyurl.com/53z4bs

  482. RTO Trainer says:

    What channel, shank?

  483. MC says:

Pablum for the masses. Palin in the trenches. Still have to force the press to address the issues.

We have to force a different debate for the next one. That’s a constructive effort.

  484. Darleen says:

    JeffG

McCain was the “sane” pick according to the MSM … they built him up to knock him down. That’s why they are freaked about Palin..she was the wild card.

The Left is adament about marginalizing and neutralizing anything right of center. They want power, exclusively, and they want no challengers.

  485. Jeff G. says:

I realize he only tried once before. But he did so at what he thought was “his turn.” That tells me something right there.

I’m trying to imagine Thompson debating Obama. It makes me hard, thinking about it.

Hell, I’d do it, but my favorables would dry up the first time I called Obama “Bill Ayers’ own personal Senator Bojangles.”

  486. shank says:

FOX, if you believe that. I’m in NC too, and we’ve been getting absolutely bombarded with Obama ads for the psat few weeks. I haven’t seen but maybe 1 McCain add, and another by a budget watchdog on Obama’s ties to Fannie/Freddie.

  487. Bob Reed says:

    Jeff,
I’ve said for years that my gut tells me that Mav would never be POTUS. I’ve prayed this entire cycle that I was wrong all along. I still do.

Mav had a good finish, and Palin is exciting and stimulates the electorate, so I’m still praying that I’m wrong…

  488. MC says:

favorables would dry up the first time I called Obama “Bill Ayers’ own personal Senator Bojangles.”

No, I think those dials would go right off the charts!

  489. ThomasD says:

I’m still stunned by the buy up all the failed mortgages ploy.

I mean, I know it’s bullshit. But does McCain know it’s bullshit?

  490. Ana says:

We’re looking at Iran with nukes and financial implosion and Obama is taking about Peace Corps. There will be enough voting against The One.

  491. RTO Trainer says:

    Yeah, I agree.

But don’t sell yourself short, Jeff. The electorate might find that kind of “straight talk” and candor refreshing.

  492. shank says:

Wait, the thought of Fred Thompson and Barack going at it makes you hard? Dude, that’s not politics, that’s teh ghey.

  493. ThomasD says:

Mmmm, Bojangles… Now I’m hungry for biscuits and dirty rice.

  494. what is Luntz’s focus group smoking? They found that interesting?

  495. Darleen says:

    shank

O is outspending 3 to 1 McCain on tv ads… and really, its not affecting his numbers that much.

TV ads for politicals aren’t having the effect they used to.

  496. MC says:

Health Care is a RIGHT! That’s what the focus groups caught…

  497. Jeff G. says:

Oh well. If McCain can’t be a bastard, I can spend the next few weeks being one.

Not that it’ll matter: clearly, McCain isn’t going to do what it takes to unmask this dangerous fraud, and unfortunately, I’m not very widely read. Hell, I barely get linked by big sites on the right.

Still, for my own personal satisfaction, I’m going to torch this socialist poser.

  498. shank says:

Jeff – FWIW, I forward lots of your links on Alinsky/Obama/etc to friends and fam.

  499. Jeff G. says:

Somebody keep a record of it. For my son. After I’m executed.

  500. MC says:

I couldn’t be happier to hear that Jeff @ 503. I think you have a much wider reach than you think… God bless you for your torch. Let it burn baby! BURN!!!

  501. Matt, Esq. says:

I’m watching this Fox panel and they’re talking about how clear Obama was but can’t actually tell us what his policy was.

And people’s opinions spiked when Obama said healthcare is a right ? People who do not at least some level of understanding as to how the Constitution and this Country works should not be voting. I mean, come on. Where in the Constitution is it a right. No no, tell me, I must know.

  502. Rich Cox says:

The campaign is waiting for the right time. October surprise or whatever… let things percolate and then hit the public with the big stuff. Blow your was to early and it becomes last week’s news. Wait too long and people will be confused.

  503. Pablo says:

There’s one thing I really, really like about John McCain. He’s not Barack Obama.

    Because of the SC Justices.

  504. B Moe says:

McCain was the “sane” pick according to the MSM … they built him up to knock him down. That’s why they are freaked about Palin..she was the wild card.

The Left is adament about marginalizing and neutralizing anything right of center. They want power, exclusively, and they want no challengers.

And that is what they are getting with McCain.

I’m still stunned by the buy up all the failed mortgages ploy.

I mean, I know it’s bullshit. But does McCain know it’s bullshit?

I think he is serious, and it will be worse if he gets in there. He wants to cut off legislative earmarks so he has more money to give away. The only people who should really give a shit about this election are foreigners, because other than foreign policy I don’t see much difference between these two.

  505. JD says:

Still, for my own personal satisfaction, I’m going to torch this socialist poser.

    Good Allah, thank you.

  506. Bob Reed says:

Frank Luntz on fox is shocked, Shocked!, that voters in Arlington Va. are favoring Obama…

As one who lived and worked in DC for many years, doesn’t Frank realize that most government bureaucrats are liberals!

  507. Warren Bonesteel says:

Nuclear plants cost 11 billion a pop. Not counting cost overruns…and the government will be in charge of building them. Using some 15 terawatts per year, America needs to build one helluva lot of nuclear plants to take up the slack. McCain only wants to build 45 of them. …using 1970’s-style nuclear technologies…but first, we gotta educate and train the people who are going to run them. At the moment, America doesn’t have enough educated and trained people to be able to operate and maintain 45 nuclear plants, let alone enough to operate several hundred of those plants. (What? We’re gonna spend a couple of trillion dollars on nuclear plants during an economic depression?)

That’s another pisspot full of money coming out your pockets via taxes and utility bills. …at 11 billion bucks apiece.

Geezus, people. Do some friggin’ research, will ya? (And don’t act like a liberal and cherry-pick the facts to support your own position.)

    /grin.

    …some people’s kids. I’m a tellin’ ya…

We can build nuclear, but we also need to use clean coal, geo-thermal, wind and photovoltaic, and buy some ‘neighborhood’-sized hydrogen plants from Japan. They went into production this year. (American has a helluva lot of coal, we’re only surpassed by the Aussies in that commodity.)

  508. Rich Cox says:

With Health Care, I wish McCain would point out that a) forcing businesses to carry it IS a tax, and b) we all pay for it in higher costs in goods and services.

  509. shank says:

If they make healthcare a right, you’ll still have to decide between healthcare and food. Instead of deciding where to put your dollars though, you’ll have to decide which line you want to stand in for the next few days.

  510. Dan Collins says:

    He’s his own personal bojangles
He jumped so high, he jumped so high

  511. ThomasD says:

People who do not at least some level of understanding as to how the Constitution and this Country works should not be voting. I mean, come on. Where in the Constitution is it a right. No no, tell me, I must know.

Public education. A right is something sweet and nice that only government can give you.

  512. Jeff G. says:

Gun ownership? Not an individual right. Health care? A right.

And of course, the Supreme Court gives too much credence to the Constitution, and doesn’t worry enough about social justice.

This is your basic Obama voter. Ayers and the New Left won. It just took them 40 years to come up with the right set of circumstances under which to go in for the death blow.

  513. lee says:

I’ve never been a McCain fan, but to be honest, I think he has a better chance against Obama than any of the other Primary candidates.

If it was Hillary, no. But the One? In the state the country is in now? McCain is the best chance.

  514. Sdferr says:

Most people don’t understand economics (like John McCain, for instance) so they can easily be fooled by the slick talk of the likes of Barry Obama (who also does not understand economics), sad to say.

When it comes to war and strategy, almost nobody understands what’s involved, but almost everybody will happily climb onboard the train as it gets rolling and then just as happily climb off when it suits them, without a care in the world as to the longterm damage they may do to the nation and it’s allies. McCain does understand these things, but chooses, for a reason I cannot understand, not to explain them. And for that, just, damn him, that’s all, damn him the bastard.

  515. Matt, Esq. says:

I think the vast majority of us agree McCain was not a good choice. I’m not excited about him as POTUS. But we have two choices and one is a socialist.

  516. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Barry is saying Paw-KEE-stawn again

And yet you’ll notice that he says AfghaniSTAN, not Awf-gon-ee-stawn.

    Fuckin’ poseur.

  517. Dan Collins says:

I’m glad I’m sick and had an excuse to sleep through it, judging by the comments.

  518. B Moe says:

There’s one thing I really, really like about John McCain. He’s not Barack Obama.

    Because of the SC Justices.

Yeah, one of the gang of fourteen is going to get tough and push around a confirmation hearing. Sorry Pabs, I ain’t seeing it. He is going to be a sweet old dottering grandpa like he has been in these debates and the Senate will tell him who is going to get a seat.

  519. ThomasD says:

Gun ownership? Not an individual right. Health care? A right.

Jeff you are not looking at it from their perspective. Sure, they’ll tell you both are a right. And then they’ll tell you exactly what that right entails, and you’ll get nothing more and like it.

  520. MC says:

Yes, don’t forget that the American electorate has an attention span of about three days. It’s going to be an exciting November.

First the S&P has to hit break 900…pretty much more wild ride next couple of weeks…

  521. shank says:

People, if you don’t own firearms yet, get your handgun permits in now.

  522. Ana says:

Stop it. The New Left didn’t win. There’s always Australia.

  523. B Moe says:

I’ve never been a McCain fan, but to be honest, I think he has a better chance against Obama than any of the other Primary candidates.

If it was Hillary, no. But the One? In the state the country is in now? McCain is the best chance.

Fred Thompson would have left Obama a quivering fucking mass on the debate stage floor. Unfortunately the media declared him unserious and the fucking sheep bought it.

  524. happyfeet says:

Again NPR gets Matthew Cuntinetti from The Weekly Standard to make the case for Obama. Useless. But McCain did fine I think. He’s putting his eggs in the reach across the aisle basket, so he’s gonna keep away from the snarly I think. On balance I think it’s smart enough. Baracky’s in trouble. He’s invested big in casting McCain as the incumbent, but his skimpy margin in the polls isn’t near what you need in a race framed like that I don’t think.

Biggest disappointment for me was that when they talked about entitlements McCain didn’t point to the Democrats’ rosy assessments of Social Security and refusal to engage on reform.

  525. cynn says:

…Has anyone commented on McCain’s half-assed swipe about Biden’s hairdo? Thought not. It was a crap debate.

  526. Darleen says:

    Warren

who said using 70’s nuke technology? France gets, what, 70+ % of their electrical energy from nukes, reusing the rods over and over again until the “waste” is so small as to be almost insignificant?

  527. B Moe says:

Australia is a myth, Ana. They are way farther down the road than we are. Unless you really dig being self sufficient in the outback.

  528. shank says:

Oh. Australia would be the shit.

But I do have this thing about ditching my country just because one front man backed by a political megamachine and the entirety of our press corps got elected. I seriously thought about leaving if he got elected, but that seems too much like quitting. It would be more fulfilling to fight the good fight.

  529. Patrick says:

    Debate = yawnfest

Now Jeff promising to torch O! over the next four weeks – you can’t afford that kind of entertainment!

  530. Matt, Esq. says:

Cynn- read up. I did. Thought it was pretty clever to slide it in there. But PROVE that’s what he meant.

  531. shank says:

The debate was a total snoozer. They should have gogo dancers next time.

  532. Rich Cox says:

    @ 533

I was going to echo that, and it would mean, at first, licensing their knowledge and experience. But we are looking long term, and have to think wbout all this in steps; now, later, and future.

  533. Darleen says:

One thing about this week… McCain and Palin are attacking during their appearances and THAT is getting press coverage.

I wish I knew the numbers between what people will see in the news cycle vs how many turn in to the debates

  534. RTO Trainer says:

Darleen, Congress would have to change the laws to allow nuclear fuel to be recycled. As it is, that’s not allowed.

  535. Rich Cox says:

    @ 538

Next cycle MUST have a Feats of Strength and Trivial Pursuit aspect/ showdown.

  536. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    #

Warren: Private reactors are in the pipe.
    #

Hey, RTO: a few days after posting that I found the site for the company itself.

There’s some interesting reading on there.

  537. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Hmm… link didn’t come through. Let’s try again.

  538. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

As it is, that’s not allowed.

Yes. Fuck you very much, Jimmy Carter.

  539. RTO Trainer says:

You bet SBP. I even found an extract of some of their technical workups.

  540. Bob Reed says:

    Matt, Esq.
I agree with you, regardless of how elitist it sounds; I can’t couch it any more genteel since I’m drinking…

But, I’ve often though that there should be a basic civics exam given when you go for voter registration. Unfortunately, populism has been used by politicians to gain leverage since NYC in the early 1800, when the Van Buren political types realized that if they could get the great unwshed in the Bowery to cast their votes for them, they could easily outnumber the opposition…

I know that some folks will call me on disenfranchising folks, but it is a matter of fact that at the time of the American revolution, 30% were Tories, 20% were what we call Patriots, and 50% were apathetic; and unfortunately the numbers have not changed that much in modern times. The only time the apathetic types turn out is during extraordinary times; and then they aren’t any more knowledgable than when they chose not to vote-they simply are there to be swayed by the most skilled demagogue…

It’s a sad state of affairs in a representative democracy, but most folks are ignorant of the issues and their relation to our national constitution…

  541. JD says:

President Barack Hussein Obama. We are well and truly fucked.

  542. RTO Trainer says:

    Which I’ll post a link to…when I find it again….

  543. MC says:

    Healthcare is a RIGHT!!

It must be true. I pay more for healthcare for my employees than I pay for the real estate for them to work in. It’s the second largest line item on the expense side of the P&L for us.

If it’s a RIGHT, I shouldn’t be paying for it then. Perhaps I should cancel health coverage next week since the right to it automatically accrues to everyone by default.

  544. Darleen says:

    RTO

oh keerist… so Dem Congresscritters are blocking nuke development by such idiot laws.

  545. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

I hope it’s up to Baracky’s standards, MC.

You wouldn’t want to get one of those unspecified fines, now…

  546. RTO Trainer says:

Well come on Darleen. You want to be responsible for contaminating the inside of a reactor by putting radioactive waste in it?

  547. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Darleen, if I remember right, Jimmuh had the theory that if we stopped reprocessing spent nuclear fuel, other countries would stop, too, thus preventing nuclear proliferation through some alchemical means or other.

Jimmuh had a lot of fucktarded notions like that.

  548. happyfeet says:

I’m not all caught up with what you guys said but for real if McCain had gone supernegative or asked Baracky about his little terrorist friend it would have been a mistake I think. Too too easy to frame the gay town hall as negative guy not wanting to talk about the economy and address the concerns of teh voters, and guess who’s doing the framing? Baracky’s NPR and NBC and Newsweek is who.

  549. RTO Trainer says:

Much better to force all that stuff into a facility like Yucca Mountain so the no-nuke and green crowds can agitate in elections on your behalf.

  550. happyfeet says:

But Baracky won’t win I promise.

  551. Rich Cox says:

The Health Care Right statement will need to be needled and certain radio talk show hosts will be all over it tomorrow. Played correctly, that statement opens alot of doors.

  552. cynn says:

Matt, Esq: It was yet another shittily moderated and useless debate, and McCain looked pickled and Obama looked like a huffy pep rally queen. Why no hard questions on the economy?

  553. Sdferr says:

Think what it must have been like to listen to Pres candidates actually debate the meaning of the political philosophy that underlay the Declaration and Constitution during the first fifty or sixty years of the nation, rather than just spend their time making shit up out of whole cloth while the audience sits there unfazed or tittering at some idiotic gloss, unaware they are giving away the precious thing they might have had.

  554. MC says:

Screw the fines SBP – he’s attributing the inalienable to this issue. He’s asserting that in the world you are BORN with healthcare. Well, who the freak is going to pay for it?

  555. RTO Trainer says:

Because Tom Brokaw picked the questions. Have you tried to watch MTP the past few weeks?

  556. Darleen says:

Unfortunately, I didn’t see any opportunity for McCain to bring up Ayers. He got the Fannie/Freddie thing and countered O’s lies about regulation “I have a copy of the letter and O’s name is not on it.” and the “did we find out about the fine?”

McCain and Palin need to stay in the news cycle with hard attacks on the trail.

  557. Sdferr says:

MTP is pretty bad alright RTO. I tivo the thing but have ended up deleting it after about five minutes or so.

  558. Dan Collins says:

    Are blowjobs a right, yet?

  559. Ana says:

Born with healthcare, government housing, government schooling, government food stamps, government ownership of your ass because of the greater good.

  560. MC says:

Healthcare is a RIGHT is the major gaffe of the evening.

  561. Sdferr says:

Depends on who’s giving them, according to Barney Frank, Dan.

  562. Rich Cox says:

Yes, better to attack on your own terms and without immediate rebuttal. Let the sarrogates try to spin and obfuscate the facts… it looks weak and provides greater opportunities to establish the direction of the cycle.

  563. RTO Trainer says:

NBC, by giving MTP to Brokaw actually found a way to make me appreciate David Gregory that week he guest hosted.

  564. RTO Trainer says:

Blowjobs are health care. As are full-auto machine guns.

  565. Ana says:

Yes, Dan. You have a right to blow the government.

  566. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Well, obviously you are, MC.

You own a business, therefore you have plenty money.

    Right?

And if you kick, he’s going to fine you for it.

No doubt with interest and penalties, too.

  567. Dan Collins says:

Thanks, RTO. That’s all I’m sayin’.

  568. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

So, RTO, when are you running for office?

Because I’d be all about that free blowjobs and machine guns thing.

  569. Bob Reed says:

You are sooooooooo right, that would have been much cooler than our modern chicken in every pot giveaway politics

  570. Warren Bonesteel says:

    RTO Trainer on 10/7 @ 8:52 pm #
“Warren: Private reactors are in the pipe.”

Ayup. There’s a lot of new tech out there that is just now coming online and is becoming more cost-effective every day. (e.g. These days, home geo-thermal has an ROI of three to five years. Put up a few solar panels and/or a small wind turbine and you’re off the grid. Plus, storage batteries have improved almost exponentially from five years ago. Do a grid connect and in most states, the local electric company will send *you* a check every month. Total ROI in about seven to ten years. Lots of tax write-offs, too. Plus, save 300-400 bucks a month.) People who say wind and solar are somehow not cost-effective and that nuclear is the only way to go are just ignorant. Those folks are just not even trying to keep up with their science and physics.

Other technologies that are now in the marketplace, plus others that are in development for mass production – with an average 18 month timeframe from basic idea to the marketplace – will change the economic and social landscape, anyway. (If ya think the internet and things like the iPhone have changed the world, well, you ain’t seen nuthin.’)

In other words, even w/o Fannie and Freddie, in a few years the new tech would crash the stock markets anyway.

Hell, Obama’s not “Change!” He’s 1970’s Chicago machine politics and 1960’s political and social radicalism. As said, McCain’s idea of ‘new’ technology is 1970’s nuclear energy.

These guys are beating us up with the past.

  571. urthshu says:

    >>President Barack Hussein Obama. We are well and truly fucked.

Still 27 days left. No despairing, just voting, talking to idiots, etc. Don’t fall for the polls as presented by the liars in the MSM.

  572. happyfeet says:

Also I liked McCain’s song about Iran.

  573. Sdferr says:

By all means, faithkeepers, keep the faith, but, but, but, sputter… Warren F-ing Buffett TresSec? McCain is a goddamn lunatic. Sitting still while Obama pounds away at the decision to go into Iraq to take out Saddam and he says not a word in defense?

  574. happyfeet says:

I liked McCain’s song about Iran but Baracky sounded appalled I noticed.

  575. Darleen says:

My eldest daughter is an RN. When is King Obama going to declare her a slave in order to deliver “rights” to everyone else?

  576. Rich Cox says:

    @ 579

And he could have laid it to rest once and for all if he joked about it… only country that worked in the meter, or something. He did pin down O! on PAKY-stan…. had him spinning and contradicting himself on the go.

  577. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    He doesn’t have to, Darleen.

Where is she going to go?

Google “Canadian doctor shortage” to find out what happened up north. Unfortunately, our medical personnel won’t have that option.

  578. happyfeet says:

Buffett can be trusted not to even consider it though. He’s busy making shitty chocolate and selling the dollar short.

  579. Sdferr says:

Well that, and rooting for more Government intervention he can game to make tons of money from, yeah.

  580. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

    Buffett = Soros lite.

  581. MC says:

Oh, yeah SBP. Plenty money. Heh.

We are being crushed by the tax system – and the compliance system. My costs for complying with the tax system has increased by more than 500% over the last ten years. Do you know that SarbOx has trickled down onto private small businesses? Don’t get me started.

But small business carries the economy – by any measure that’s where the jobs are.

Healthcare is a contract – either between employer and employee or consumer and provider.

Given that I’m an old guy, I’m very motivated to have the best possible healthcare plan possible – but the cost is already at unacceptable levels and government invervention in healthcare is for the most part responsible for driving up costs. Industry can provide efficiencies to reduce costs if we can just be let loose to do it.

But to characterize healthcase as a basic human right is the kind of thing that makes businesses leave the country.

  582. MC says:

    healthcase = healthcare …

  583. Sdferr says:

    I shouldn’t damn McCain though I guess.
After all, he is who he is.

Who am I to expect him to be someone else who would stand up for the world historically unique political system we have been bequeathed by the blood and sacrifice of millions of patriots rather than stand there and watch as it gets flushed down a shithole?

  584. lee says:

The differences between the two were stark, if experience and wisdom are what you are looking for in a president.

I thought Obama looked unsure of himself a lot, and the rest of the time he was preachy and superior.

McCain is all about the straight talk. I thought he looked like he could run the country in his sleep.

    And I hope he does.

  585. But to characterize healthcase as a basic human right is the kind of thing that makes businesses leave the country.

which reminds me. O! understands why certain businesses prefer incorporating in Delaware, but he can’t seem to see how regulation might drive other businesses out of the country.

  586. Darleen says:

People can go years without every seeing a doctor or the inside of a hospital.

A few weeks without food and we bury the person.

    Yet, is food a right?

What makes fucking bastards like Barry think that it is ok for HIM to confiscate the labor of doctors and nurses?

  587. MC says:

McCain wins the FOX text in vote 86% to 12% – if nothing else, better than the last one…

  588. MC says:

Darleen – good hit on the head of the nail!

  589. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

I’d bet that Obama would agree that food is a right, but maybe not the blow jobs and machine guns.

Which is weird, because I’m pretty sure that you could get some food if you had a machine gun.

  590. MC says:

Hell, I’m going hunting with Sarah Palin. I know we’re going to get some food…

  591. Ana says:

What about this mortgage buyout that McCain announced? Where the hell did that come from? It’s like being mugged by an octopus.

  592. MC says:

Karl Rove is hammering on Obama’s plan and small business on FOX. Hope someone is listening.

  593. lee says:

    I don’t like doctors.
    Avoid them like the plague.
Rather be dead than wet the bed.

    I like food though.

  594. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

What’s your position on blow jobs, lee?

  595. Jeff Y. says:

Crike. First the bailout, now this. We’re all socialists now.

  596. Sdferr says:

I’ll bet a lot of you remember the destruction of the WorldTradeCenter Towers on 9/11. Oh, well, one or two of you anyway.

I’ll even bet some of you remember where you were and what you were doing. Ahhhhhhh, well, you over there, I’ll bet you remember don’t you?

Oh. You don’t? Uhhhhhnnnnh. Well, let me tell you, cause I’m a Senator. It was a big deal. And maybe you might, well, maybe you, well you could remem…well I wish you remembered it.

  597. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Anyone got any tips on how to get your house appraised for a low value?

‘Cause I’m starting to feel like a chump here for having a current mortgage.

  598. B Moe says:

Whether nishi and thor are right and McCain is a senile old fool, or Ric Locke is right and it is some fucked up sense of chivalry, the effect is the same: he is part of the problem, not the solution, and he has no fucking business being given any more power.

And if Alan Colmes were any stupider they would have to put a seat belt on his desk chair and make him wear a helmet.

  599. Ana says:

A Current Mortgage. Ha. That’s so yesterday. The Foreclosure is the thing.

  600. Jeff Y. says:

SBP, yup. I’m feeling like a chump for renting ’cause I can’t afford a house. Don’t I have a right to a house can ‘t afford? Um no. Actually, I don’t have that right.

  601. Sdferr says:

Heh, Colmes is such a memebot I can’t watch twenty seconds of the guy. Helmet and ballgag, I might consider it.

  602. Jeff G. says:

From the McCain campaign: “What the bloggers are saying”

And by “the bloggers,” they mean the same fucking handful of bloggers they always go to as representative of “the right”:

On debate tactics and overall performance…

Townhall’s Amanda Carpenter: Just like the Saddleback forum earlier this year, McCain answered questions, while Obama seemed to dodge them… All in all, it was a solid performance by McCain…
Redstate’s Erick Erickson: John McCain gave the most substantive answers to the questions. Obama patently refused to answer some of the questions, including the last question. He couldn’t bring himself to admit there are things he does not know. I suspect that McCain actually will pick up a bit from here. His answers were common sense answers and steady. He did well.

National Review’s Kathryn Jean Lopez: Going Negative: It’s safe to say Obama went first.

Ann Althouse: Obama pops up and says he’s just trying to keep up with McCain. … That seemed a little dorky and childish.

Commentary’s Daniel Casse: For a guy who is usually hard to control, McCain is delivering tight, crisp, and extremely effective answers. Every answer has a similar structure: (a) I care about this issue (b) I’ve stood up against Bush/special interests on this issue (c) Obama has never taken a stand, never acted on this (d) so let’s compare records.

Redstate’s Erick Erickson: I’m struck during this debate that Obama is really quick to cry foul. … Obama is doing his best to play a victim, but even watching the CNN independent voter lines, it doesn’t appear to be working to his advantage. People don’t like whiners.

On McCain’s bipartisan and leadership credentials…

Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey: Who will be your treasury secretary? Good answer, offering a bipartisan slate of selections. Obama: I like Warren Buffet too!

Commentary’s Jen Rubin: McCain flashes his credentials on bipartisanship. Obama never took on the leaders of his own party. Let’s look at our records. Go to the watchdogs he says and says look at the records. Obama voted for nearly a billion in pork barrel spending. Then look at the proposals for the economy for middle income jobs. McCain is as effective in doing the compare-and-contrast exercise as he has ever been.

Townhall’s Amanda Carpenter: How is Obama going to answer this barrage of attacks from McCain? He’s pointing out all the times he as worked with Democrats (Lieberman on energy, Feingold on campaign finance, Kennedy on immigration) across the aisle and rightly noting he is the most liberal, big spending senator in the U.S. Senate. Bonus points to McCain for highlighting the $3 million earmark Obama secured for an overhead projector.

    On Fannie and Freddie…

Talking Points Memo’s Greg Sargent: McCain just hit Obama squarely over Fannie and Freddie, claiming his call for action on the mortgage giants shows he was out front on the crisis
Commentary’s Linda Chavez: Obama looked positively sheepish when McCain confronted him on the letter which Obama did not sign warning of Fannie Mae disaster.

    On spending…

The Corner’s Michael Graham: Write that Down: “Net Spending Cut” And then try to find any evidence of that fact from Sen. Obama’s public statements, spending proposals, or wildest fantasies. Seriously, after listening to Sen. Obama campaign for two years, is there ANYONE who believes President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Harry Reid are going to cut spending?

Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey: Obama says eliminate deficit spending, but what will he cut?

Townhall’s Amanda Carpenter: Tom Brokaw seems really worried about entitlement spending. He wants to know if the candidates “would give Congress a date certain to reform Social Security and Medicare within 2 years.” Obama says “I can’t guarantee we are going to do it in the next two years, but I would like to do it in my first term as president” and goes back to talking about taxes.

The Campaign Spot’s Jim Geraghty: Obama may have made the biggest whopper of the campaign when he said he’s proposing more in spending cuts than in spending proposals. The RNC puts his spending at $1.238 TRILLION.

The American Spectator’s Phil Klein: Obama’s Budget Scalpel…I prefer McCain’s hatchet.

The Weekly Standard’s Mary Katharine Ham: I’m pretty sure I could Google all night long and never find a formula that would make Barack Obama’s public statements indicate that his administration would represent a “net spending cut.”

    On the government inventing computers…

The American Spectator’s John Tabin: “The Computer” was not invented by a bunch of government scientists.

Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey: the government did not invent the computer.

On US foreign policy and using military force…

The American Spectator’s John Tabin: The Obama Doctrine… It is in our national interest to stop humanitarian disasters. Except in Iraq.

Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey: What is the Obama Doctrine when national security isn’t at stake? Interesting question. And, uh, we DID intervene in the Holocaust. He’s stumbling badly here.
Redstate’s Erick Erickson: Barack Obama suggests we need to consider moral issues in intervening with combat forces. He mentions intervening in the Holocaust and how we should have done that. Um Senator, we did intervene in the Holocaust. It was called World War II.

National Review’s Mark Levin: Obama is utterly incoherent on foreign policy.

    On health care…

Commentary’s John Podhoretz: McCain just creamed Obama on health care. This may be the first time in recorded history that a Republican has actually bested a Democrat on a core Democratic issue.

The American Spectator’s Quin Hillyer: On the health care question, McCain is giving an excellent answer.

On Obama and the debate rules…

Powerline’s John Hinderaker: Obama doesn’t want to follow the rules. I wonder whether this will rub some viewers the wrong way.

Townhall’s Amanda Carpenter: How many times now has Obama asked to bend the rules of the debate, with these follow-up questions?? I remember at least twice.

The Corner’s Mark Levin: Obama is breaking the rules of the debate, no one will care, but there was a time when a gentleman’s agreement meant something.

    *****

Fuck everyone else. I’m for me from here on out.

    WHO’S WITH ME?

  603. Jeff Y. says:

B Moe, too true. McCain is a big government guy. We’re all socialists now.

  604. lee says:

What’s your position on blow jobs, lee?

    I prefer standing.

  605. Sdferr says:

I’m for you, Jeff, but I’m with me.

  606. Darleen says:

IIRC in the S&L meltdown, the government DID acquire a lot of the assets..and eventually sold them for a profit to the taxpayers.

  607. B Moe says:

I’m in. What these nimrods don’t understand is McCain doesn’t need to convince them, he has to go after those two year olds Obama is getting. To win them over he has to draw blood, he needs to go after Obama and leave no doubt he is a punkass poser.

Show him how JG, maybe Megan is lurking.

  608. happyfeet says:

I unnerstand Mr. Moe but for reals a Pezzydent Baracky alloyed with his media and with Democratic majorities is endgame. Game over. It’s live to fight another day time in America.

  609. Jeff G. says:

    Althouse? Althouse?

  610. Jeff Y. says:

Darleen, did the government confiscated the assets; it didn’t buy them. The investors lost their money. This bailout buys the assets and lets the investors profit from it. That’s fucked up.

  611. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

Yeah, I don’t get the Althouse thing, either.

I understand why Insty likes her (colleague, and all that) but she’s way too bland for my tastes.

  612. MC says:

Try buying a few million in real estate over the last couple of years – because of the vastly increasing lease rates for small businesses as PE firms bought up all the commercial real estate around the country at a premium – and now wonder whether we are under water or not.

  613. Jeff Y. says:

Insty likes McCardle and Althouse. Whatever.

  614. happyfeet says:

    I think Althouse is pretty.

  615. Sdferr says:

I think the S&L’s were allowed to fail first though, Dar, so there is a difference with today’s dealio. They’re trying hard to keep the banks and whatnot from failing.

    Oh, what JeffY said.

  616. Jeff Y. says:

McCardle is hot. Althouse is warm.

  617. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

She’s okay, happy, but Jessica Alba is cuter.

Doesn’t mean I’m going to read her blog. :-)

  618. ThomasD says:

Althouse strikes me as the kind who gets really pissy when you don’t acknowledge her the way she wants to be acknowledged.

    But now that’s academic, duh.

  619. B Moe says:

I don’t think so, Reid and Pelosi could fuck up a two car funeral. Obama doesn’t know how to do anything but campaign, and he isn’t particularly good at that. They would also have to contend with Kos and Hamsher and Huffington and that bunch of yo-yos. I honestly don’t see anything of significance making it out of that fucking house of mirrors. Too many egos and not enough brain cells. The thing to be thinking now is how do we get this shit turned around and headed back toward reality. McCain isn’t going to help, Obama might.

  620. MC says:

Great summary Jeff – where’s Althouse been on the candidates? I have no idea…

  621. Spies, Brigands, and Pirates says:

McArdle’s working for gay gossip site and anti-Semitic conspiracy newsletter The Atlantic (tm Ace o’ Spades), so I kinda don’t have much respect for her these days.

  622. B Moe says:

626 was in answer to feets at 615

  623. Ana says:

Yes. Of course we’re with you. Where are you going, by the way? New Left? Weathermen? ACORN voting scandals? I never know what to pack.

  624. Darleen says:

    JeffY and Sdferr

I haven’t gone back to look at it again… I was just trying to recall what happened and remembered it was quite nasty.

Is the government required to give mortgage holders a profit? I believe the government was going to buy those mortgages for something like 50-60% of value?

  625. lee says:

    Are you guys blind?

Mary Katharine Ham: I’m pretty sure I could Google all night long and never find a formula that would make Barack Obama’s public statements indicate that his administration would represent a “net spending cut.”

    I’m standing…er, I mean she’s understanding! ahh, OUTstanding.

  626. B Moe says:

    I think Althouse is pretty.

    Pretty what?

  627. Jeff G. says:

I’m going to lift weights and aggravate my shoulder.

After that, I’m going for the Guinness.

  628. RTO Trainer says:

We need a three man commission on the economy.

I’d nominate Warren Buffet, Geoge Sorros and Ross Perot.

Just to get the sound bite from Perot: “What kind of idiots are you guys anyway?”

  629. Sdferr says:

Obama might help BMoe? What, in an utterly upsidedown sort of way you mean?

Or have you lost something over there on the floor, yeah, right over there, see, that skittery thing, over there.

  630. Jimmie says:

Fuck everyone else. I’m for me from here on out.

    …

    …

    WHO’S WITH ME?

I’m feelin’ you, Jeff. Sent out an e-mail to all the biggies and got exactly zippo links. Then again, I’m a much smaller fish than you, so I don’t expect too much anyhow.

And hey, how about that McCain nationalizing a chunk of the home mortgage industry! Washington does such a bang-up job of everything else, why not let it be a landlord too!

  631. MC says:

I think BMoe meant that Obama might crash and burn on his own…

But we need to help him along…

  632. Jeff Y. says:

The S&L bailout created the environment in which Wall St. bankers could take crazy risks. The only solution to ending this cycle is to allow the bad money to exit the economy and to force investors to take their losses. This will happen one way or another. There are no S&L banks today. They are all history. Investors lost it all.

Today, socialists have decided that some businesses are too big to fail. These business have the effective power to tax the electorate. That’s fucked up.

  633. B Moe says:

Dick Simon just explained to McCain how he should be approaching Ayers, talking about the damage to the education system he is doing now that Obama has been aiding and abetting instead of just talking about him bombing the Pentagon 40 years ago.

  634. Sdferr says:

It was nasty politically when it went down (my girlfriend at the time was at OTS, then called FSLIC I think) but the RTC went pretty well (and quietly) as I remember it.

  635. B Moe says:

    Obama might help BMoe?

    Not intentionally. But yeah.

  636. Sdferr says:

Sorry, but who is Dick Simon?

  637. Jeff Y. says:

My parents lost money in the S&L fiasco. They learned to invest prudently. Why are investors today more privileged? If I sound strident, I’m sorry. I am rather bitter about how House Republicans voted and McCain’s stand on the bailout.

  638. MC says:

He’s the guy that Lee is over standing beside right now.

    Keeding! I’m keeding!

  639. B Moe says:

Shit, not Dick Simon, the former Clinton advisor that smacked down Colmes the other night, what is that fuckers name.

Jesus I got a lot of nerve calling somebody else senile.

  640. Ana says:

Rescue. It’s a rescue. Dulcet tones. Soothing colors.

  641. B Moe says:

    Dick Morris.

  642. happyfeet says:

Republicans know how to stand up to McCain. They’ve made him make his pouty face too many times to count.

  643. Jeff Y. says:

WEll, Dick does have a point.

  644. it’s like you scrambled the letters in his last name, but made the two r’s an n. heh.

  645. lee says:

One thing the trolls are right about. Whoever wins, We federalists are out til 2012 at least.

  646. Jeff Y. says:

    Maggie = perspicacious

  647. B Moe says:

But to answer your question, Dick Simon was an Indy car driver and owner in the 70s and 80s. I think he might own a trucking company out west, too. I don’t know what he thinks of Ayers, but I doubt he would approve.

  648. MC says:

Does that mean no blowjobs until 2012?

  649. Jeff Y. says:

Federalism died with the 17th Amendment methinks. It’s been a retrograde operation ever since then.

  650. Sdferr says:

Rescue. It’s a rescue. Dulcet tones. Soothing colors.

I like that. Much better than the William Tell Overture I had going on in my head. Dulcet. Soothing. Works for me.

  651. Jeff Y. says:

What? No blowjobs. I have a right to a blow job, damn it.

  652. happyfeet says:

And it matters for real that McCain is committed to success in Iraq. Baracky isn’t. Baracky is committed to an Iraq narrative that mirrors that of Vietnam. I hate that.

  653. Darleen says:

    Less William Tell, more Enya

  654. Jeff Y. says:

    Darleen, LOL! ROFLMAO

  655. ThomasD says:

If McCain wins there is a chance he might appoint SCOTUS justices who might actually start to turn the tide. There is a further chance that Palin will rise to POTUS and she will appoint SCOTUS justices who might begin to turn the tide.

There is no upside to Obama. He will appoint SCOTUS justices who will make Ginsburg look like Scalia.

  656. Sdferr says:

Enya doesn’t sound like something I’d want to get to know, does it?

Though, I gotta say, when McCain said “across the board spending freeze” then coupled it with a commission akin to the base-closing one to start cutting programs, that got my husband’s attention. Barry just sat there looking a little poleaxed. WHAT?? CUT PROGRAMS AND NOT THOSE BABYKILLER SOLDIERS AND THEIR AWFUL TOYS OF WAR???

  669. Sdferr says:

Malt malt malt, though when I think dulcet-soothing, I think Ralph Vaughn Williams’ “The Lark Ascending” or something along those lines, not really a bunch of hokey new agey falderol.

    Darleen, that’s a good point.

    What’s the matter MC?

    Aren’t you a cunning linguist?

  681. I mean, c’mon, you can just feel your brain running away now can’t you?

  682. Sdferr says:

oh, when I say new agey, I mean that stuff associated with waterfally nature, whales, seashores and elevators.

  683. RTO Trainer says:

Support of stimulus is clitical to penal reform as well.

  684. Sdferr says:

ugh and feh, can’t take mr glass. mr britten, mr barber, mr bernstein, mr milhaud, mr poulenc, YAY, mr glass, BOO.

  685. MC says:

RTO – That’s the kind of reformation we need!

  686. MC says:

    Healthcare is a RIGHT!

  687. see? I put everyone to sleep.

  691. MC says:

M’lady! Have you been here all along? Or just finished buying some American real estate?

  692. Diana says:

I watched y’all instead of the debate. You’re much more fun.

  693. Sdferr says:

Not asleep, though by rights I should head that way. Did McCain do wrong by himself tonight? Or has he captured lightening in a bottle?
I oughtn’t to snigger thus. But can’t help it. So depressing

  694. urthshu says:

Now you people are just getting silly. ;^D

Looking around the net….everybody’s saying it was boring.
Which is, actually, a good thing in a sense. Obama was trying to be serious and appear like the man of the hour, Kennedy-like, but he came off as boring and whiny, by turns.
The only thing people remember really about him is:
    -healthcare as a right
-wimpy and confused on foreign policy/war
    -something else I forgot.

So, not JFK at all. Just another tax and spend Dem pol.

    An aside to Jeff:
All of those bloggers are more or less in the tank for McCain, or never criticize him harshly. You do, b/c you’re honest and you’re conservative first, repub second [if at all]. Yours seems currently a different purpose, like a Burke maybe. Its not the easy path, no. You need to write that book.

  695. Looking around the net….everybody’s saying it was boring.

come to think of it, I did only yell at the television one time.

  696. Sdferr says:

So many lies, so little time to yell. It’s like the proverbial “drink from a firehose”.

  697. MC says:

But, m’lady, we would have enjoyed your stimulating participation as well…

  698. MC says:

Well, I’m going to tune in to UFC instead of the debate replay… good point urthshu about Obama’s lack or oratorial inspiration.

    He did suck the most.

  699. hhHenry says:

Makes no difference who will be the next puppet elected to occupy the White House for the next four years, since those in control of the world’s monetary system are in charge of the United States Legislative, Judicial and Executive branches of Government, the Democratic and the Republican parties and the godless American populace.

  700. Darleen says:

does that mean the godbothering American populace can still be free?

(there is a reason why home schooled kids are considered threats to the Establishment)

  701. urthshu says:

One of the interesting/telling things about these debates is that they really aren’t much debatey anymore. They can just roll out responses on the net and tv and press for the next eh-week maybe, so they don’t really argue or use too many gotchas. its all just straight on talk to the people time, a big commercial.

    Good night all

  702. Warren Bonesteel says:

In related news, the Dow futures are down-80 and the Hang Send and the Nikkei are taking a real beating.

Economically, we’ve got a world-wide, rolling, negative feedback cycle going on here.

An Obama presidency automatically crashes the system. A McCain presidency slows things down, but it crashes anyway.

    Hi all,
been reading Jeff and you guys for what seems like forever, but never felt that there was much I could add.

But I just have to ask you guys two questions!!

Didn’t the O just promote the “Bush Doctrine” with his reply about Israel(not wait for or worry about the UN etc)??

And his whine about us using 25% of the world’s resourses… how come nobody ever wants to say what % of the world economy THAT produces??

ps JeffG ,don’t worry about the others please. What you do always come through and smacks you upside the head with the sense it makes. You clear the brain and make (at least me) want to continue the fight. Thanks

pps music.. about 3pm today I started hearing the Navy Hymn, just saying…

    Sad.

    The Jews did it.

  709. lee says:

I think Obama isn’t likable like Palin.

Palin is all happy and positive, very personable. Obama is doom and gloom, foreboding. He could play the older, ruthless vampire in the next Wesley Snipes movie, and not even break a sweat I bet.

  710. Darleen says:

    Lee

The Left hates Palin because she is happy. Happy people confuse them and that makes them scared and angry.

If Palin were an authentic woman she should be denouncing the Patriarchy, divorcing her husband, being such a harridan that her kids should be in all manner of therapy and Trig would never have been born. But she could never ever be happy in a less than perfect Left run world.

  711. lee says:

I think they hate her for the same reason they hate Clarence Thomas, and Jeff.

She’s a traitor to the cause.

  712. psycho... says:

    Simpler.

They hate her because she refuses to do it herself.

  713. Sdferr says:

Which makes sense from an evolutionary perspective, I think, that apostates hatred or better, as you have it, traitor hatred. Trust offered and betrayed we perceive as more dangerous than enmity of the openly hostile other tribe over there, who we are already on guard against. POW’s we take care of until the war is over, traitors we put against the wall and shoot.

  714. Victor. says:

Few points I would like to add.

    1) I agree with happyfeet, McCain did well and I think that you guys are misreading the debate because some might have had unrealistic expectations for a blogger style flame war.

2)The sense I have is that McCain has successfully stolen Obama’s thunder in a quiet way. Obama is saying the same shit today that he said 6 months ago, McCain’s recent series of chaotic campaign tactics might have damaged him in the short term- but it got the attention of voters. It allows him a certain amount of freedom that Obama is unable to match, as you saw tonight he is able to introduce fresh ideas that might even contradict his earlier position without costing him much politically.

    3) re: Fred Thompson. I never understood why Duncan Hunter didn’t get more run from the right, he seemed like the real deal to me.

4)My wife said, “This is like two democrats fighting over which one is the bigger lush.” God, I Love That Woman.

5)ThomasD had a great point about McCain closing strong, people will think of him favorably because of that. McCain’s closing statement blew away these notions that McCain doesn’t get middle America. In that last minute, he spoke to them (us) in ways that Obama will never understand.

6)Most Important: Revist how McCain treated Romney in the debates. McCain kept sandbagging during the early rounds, consistently repeating small simple themes only to unleash a full blown attack in the final debate- granted just about every point McCain hammered was a big fat lie, but the point here is that it worked. The next and final debate is one week from right now, McCain is going to unload right then and right there- it’s what he does.

  715. lee says:

McCain camp has a sense of humor

rtx9b61.jpgThe Republican presidential candidate’s staff handed out cufflinks — yes, cufflinks — on Tuesday to surprised reporters with an unexpected decoration on top: a mock presidential seal for rival Democrat Barack Obama and the Illinois senator’s web site.

That’s not all. On the back, carefully engraved, were the words “The One.”

It has more laughs too, though I’m not sure it’s intentional:

The Obama camp was not amused.

“People are struggling, and they want to hear about what these candidates are going to do to fix the economic crisis,” Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said. “It’s unfortunate that the McCain campaign is instead focused on these silly distractions.”

Mr Vietor, politics is all about the silly distraction.

  716. artiman says:

“The Left hates Palin because she is happy” Palin is not fit to be a VP and i cannot imagine how americans can even vote for her. But Darleen, after reading your comments i kinda of know how you folks think and vote..what a pity

  717. Palin is not fit to be a VP and i cannot imagine how americans can even vote for her.

but let me guess, you think Obama is fit to be President. oh well, diff’rent strokes for diff’rent folks.

  718. lee says:

If it makes you feel better artiman, I wouldn’t vote for you. You don’t sound happy at all.

    Pity.

  719. artiman says:

DARLEAN – “Obama is backing from oil drilling” where did you get that? Just because he pointed out that just by drilling oil america cannot make up for the lack of oil? grow up with facts kiddo

  720. artiman says:

FOR LEE – News flash – I am not in the election. Stop worrying about me.

  721. artiman says:

Yeah maggie. Palin can keep winking and may be one day become president when the oldie dies. You know what once Churchil said that “People will get the government they deserve”. I think that is exactly right. For the folks who vote for their leaders by looking at how she/he dresses up or the looks, that’s what you need. USA would soon be toast.

  722. who is doing that, artiman?

  723. artiman says:

“politics is all about the silly distraction” yeah right. And that’s how exactly you help your leaders dig the hole for you. be silly and look for silly distraction and do the cheer leading. fanstastic. you rock bud.

  724. lee says:

    artiman

Oh, I was just trying to be polite and reciprocate your worry about WHO THE FUCK AMERICANS ARE VOTING FOR!!!!

  725. For the folks who vote for their leaders by looking at how she/he dresses up or the looks

sorry, this is what I was asking about. we’ve had some resident trolls that are voting for Obama because he’s pretty. In fact, I overheard a woman in the show I’m in state, “If they can vote for someone because she’s a woman, I can vote for Obama because he’s a beautiful man.” perhaps you could address the people that are actually here.

  726. artiman says:

a good part of the population. folksy charm. ring any bells?

  727. because really, I’m likin’ Palin cause she’s the only person in this race with executive experience in an elected office. Legislators are not known for their ability to make quick decisions. for instance, look at Obama’s response to the Georgian conflict.

  728. a good part of the population. folksy charm. ring any bells?

    no.

  729. artiman says:

Maggie – who ever reasons like “because he is a beautiful man” or because she is woman or because she is folksy and charming and almost peripheral things, thats what USA is doomed with.

LEE – I didn’t get what you meant initially. I am not an american. But was following this election since i am in the US this year and its amazing to know that many people don’t care enough to understand their leaders, compare facts etc. I don’t live in the US or care about democrats/Republican (what ever). the one i liked was Ron paul (but his views were a little bit extreme). from the lot that is remaining now, Palin is crap, Obama would do better if he sticks to his words. McCain does not have the track record or the energy to give it what it takes. Thats my view.

Anyway, goodluck americans. even the best president will not be successful in this economic hole your corporate america has dug for you. i am sorry.

  730. lee says:

If Palin was a democrat, you would be gushing over her artiman. Talking about the caricature of her you invented is one of those silly distractions I was talking about.

Thanks for the most excellent example.

  731. Victor. says:

artiman person, do you really support this warmonger Obama?

Tonight Obama put on a display that would make Dick Cheney take a second look- paraphrasing here:

“I will do everything to stop Iran from getting Nukes”, “More American Blood Must Soak The Ground in Afghanistan”,”I LOVE ISRAEL”, “Pockiston is One Bad Piece of Intelligence Away from Getting Air-Raided and Having Civilians Killed”, “Mother Russia is Evil and Must Be Confronted”.

If the last eight years are any indication of the lefts standards, shouldn’t we be calling for an arrest, trial and prison term for this blood thirsty murderer?

  732. artiman says:

maggie katzen – Do you really think Palin has what it takes? please take a step back and ready a few independent reviews. My view she is misinformed, does not answer questions to the point, too much negativity in her remarks and smug sarcasm. she might be president if McCain wins one day. so compare her with your past presidents Regan,Eisenhower, JFK etc who rubbed shoulders with other world leaders. Compare her to Margeret thactcher of UK as a leader of a country. to me she should just stick to what she is doing now. she might be do better.

  733. so compare her with your past presidents Regan,Eisenhower, JFK etc who rubbed shoulders with other world leaders. Compare her to Margeret thactcher of UK as a leader of a country.

um, yeah, and you do the same with Obama. dude can’t make a decision to save his life.

  734. lee says:

    Where are you from artiman?

  735. oh, and I also already explained why I think she’d be fine. better than Obama even.

  736. artiman says:

Maggie – I don’t think Obama would measure up. But on a point scale if i compare, to me Palin would still be below Obama and McCain. I am not saying Obama is Jesus christ.Ha ha. If you think i am a democrat. you are wrong. I came to know about democrats and republicans etc only in 2008.

Lee – I am from India. I am in US for 1yr. Back in india political scene is much worse and below comparison. But never the less, I chose to talk about what i saw. And as a person who never followed any thing about elections (other than what i read about Bush-Algore voting and florida election issues and the supreme court verdict of US) and never wondered what is a republican or democrat, take my words as an independent view. Btw, Bush is a joke even in india. so may be i have some thing against repubs :-)

  737. lee says:

    I see, that’s cool artiman.

I do wonder however, how did someone in your circumstances, with regard to a foreign countries politics, end up on a right leaning blog insulting their candidates?

I think your story is as suspect as your character artiman old egg.

  738. artiman says:

Right leaning? I don’t know what that implies. I typed out what i felt. Frankly i don’t care who wins. As for story being suspect, tell me why do think so. Give some logic and reason. old egg? ( i guess you meant decaying egg). any way what ever. i don’t intend to make you happy or see the light. Let me go crash. send me your brick bats to artiman_in_here at yahoo. I’ll get back to you if i get time. One think i can tell you. from what i saw (at the consulting firm my team is working, most americans does not know what i know about the candidates views and independent thought on what would benefit US. And if thats what is expected from educated americans, in another 25 years, you’ll be romans… enjoy and have fun

  739. MC says:

Sounds like we better cancel that nuke contract with India, eh?

Since Bush is a joke and all, even in India, maybe your money’s no good, fartiman…

  740. happyfeet says:

I like India. Even if they don’t like us I guess. I can’t worry.

  741. lee says:

    Sure thing artiman.

But how did you come to be posting at this particular blog?

I suppose you don’t know what a troll is either.

  742. artiman says:

happyfeet – I don’t think india hates US. People are the same every where. I have worked with americans and i like them. Anyday I would say americans are better than europeans. But the US govt policies have antagonized a lot of folks over different issues and people dont trust US leaders. that does not mean people hate people. India is a secular state unlike pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq/Iran etc.

MC – get a life. take your nuclear deal and shove it. india went nuclear in 1974 as the 6th nation in the world. don’t think that US is giving nuclear ‘deal’ as a gift. its a give and take. get your facts first.

  743. artiman says:

bruce lee – I clicked a link in CNN to get here. get out of your head thinking that i am some thing you imagine to be. we were not talking about who i am.

  744. I clicked a link in CNN to get here

    oh crap.

    oh, nothing personal, artiman.

  745. Warren Bonesteel says:

There’s nearly 300,000,000 geniuses in India, and we get artiman… heh.

Of course, all of those geniuses haven’t helped their economy, either. Now, if artiman blames it on America, it hammers his own national pride, which blows his earlier argument. But if he sticks with the national pride argument, then India screwed up it’s own economy. (India was gettin’ screwed by inflation long before the banking/financial crisis.)

Although, all of that said, Tata Motors is worth the investment.

  746. MC says:

Fartiman, I have a life, thanks.

I’ll be sure to let my friends at the State Department know that the Indian ‘man on the street’ thinks we should take that nuclear deal and shove it. Gift? Who said that? – ‘contract’ and ‘money’ don’t constitute a gift. Give and take? Ha! Go develop thorium technology yourself then.

Look, the US and India are allies – at the Executive level – you might want to think about the value of that relationship before you go around crapping on it.

  747. lee says:

I’m talking about who you are artiman.

You are a foreigner come to a pro republican blog and say “Palin is not fit to be a VP and i cannot imagine how americans can even vote for her. But Darleen, after reading your comments i kinda of know how you folks think and vote..what a pity”

So, why don’t you fuck off asshole?

  748. MAJ (P) John says:

Fuck everyone else. I’m for me from here on out.

    …

    …

    WHO’S WITH ME?

You had me last week, remember? Just promise me we don’t have to sing any “Obama Youth” style songs, please. I have a hard enough time keeping up with the Methodist Hymnal.

  749. BRD says:

    Artiman,

W/r/t to India, I think the nuclear deal was a good move technologically and diplomatically. I know that the debate over the deal has caused huge chaos in domestic Indian politics, but on balance, India has never really been a nuclear proliferator to any great degree. Which makes it very unique among nuclear powers. I also had hopes for space cooperation, but I think part of that will have to do with Japanese-Indian developments w/r/t China.

In any case, if one were to make the assertion that Biden is a better VP pick than Palin because of his experience, then it would suggest that experience is important. If experience is important, then McCain’s edge in experience should be definitive. If it is not, then that would imply that experience isn’t a major factor, and therefore Palin would not be a worse pick than Biden on an experiential basis.

    Regards,

    BRD

It is 6:55 here and I am still perplexed as to how a Dem politician can just wave his hand and grant new rights. Any politician powerful enough to give rights is powerful enough to take them away. Someone seriously needs to implement my 12 pack in every fridge plan so at least I can cling to that when they take away my gun and my antipathy toward people who don’t look like me.

  752. Mr. Pink says:

I forgot the Bible on purpose cause I really ain’t religious at all.

    Obama’s lead down to 1.9%? http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1575

Maybe we’re *not* in a “Oh noes, McCain needed a debate knockout or it’s all over!” situation. Maybe the ground game/ad game is working and we’re trending back in regardless of the debate. Or maybe the pollsters are just playing around with the internals yet again just to make it exciting. Maybe nobody’s changed their mind since August and it’ll come down to GOTV and turnout like usual.

In any case, the McCain campaign playbook scores over the more pedestrian Obama campaign playbook in two important respects. First, it is slightly cheaper; and second, it has the words DON’T PANIC inscribed in large friendly letters on its cover.

And on a side note, I keep hearing that state polls are lagging indicators behind national polls, but I’m not quite sure why that would be. You’d think they’d reflect trends at exactly the same rate, wouldn’t they?

  754. Carin says:

I only was able to watch thirty minutes. McCain talking about saving people’s homes was too much. Reminded me why I wasn’t a McCain fan from the start.

I had the strangest dream last night about Obama performing parts of “Tommy” last night. Bullshitted his way through it.

I swears, the most frightening thing about this whole Obama-one thing is if (God Forbid) he is president, where does that leave the “watchdog” media? Are we supposed to believe that they’re going to go back to the job of keeping people honest?

I mean, cripes. Just look how the powers that be made that SNL skit go away.

  755. Carin says:

I love how Obama is going to fix healthcare by reducing costs! GENIUS! Why didn’t anyone think of that.

Now … how is he going to lower costs? Pixie dust? He’s pushing an ad in Detroit really hard and just glosses over this. States it as fact. People are supposed to pretend that reducing costs isn’t the major problem. He’s just gonna reduce ’em!

  756. Mr. Pink says:

Well I saw the press “watchdog” that new right that was invented last night and not bat an eye. Just like they are now “watchdogging” the hell outa some Fannie and Freddie.

This resonates. John needs to do a couple lines off of Cindy’s hip bones before the next debate.

The best thing about this election, is that Sarah Palin will be the next president of the United States. 2012, if Obama wins, 2012/2016 if McCain wins. She is the only one of the four people involved that has any clue about America and the constitution. McCain is a good man, but just another politician. Obama is a piece of shit marxist/leninist who I truly feel will use his office to punish those who aren’t onboard. Kinda like that George Bush/Dick Cheney caricature we’ve been reading and hearing for the last eight years only, for real.

  759. B Moe says:

I love how Obama is going to fix healthcare by reducing costs! GENIUS! Why didn’t anyone think of that.

  760. Mr. Pink says:

Whatever George Bush/Dick Cheney have done you don’t agree with, I do not remember them ever just granting the American people a completely new right thru executive fiat.

Sarah Palin is a useful idiot. Her and her greaser hubby will no doubt be looking for work in 2012, but she’ll be laughed back to Alaska if she runs.

breaking: More of teh stoopid is probably not the Republicans ticket to the W-House.

    O! is the 1!

thor, it’s put up or shut up time.  Tell me three things, factual and concrete and that can stand some critical analysis, that O! stands for.  I would appreciate twenty words or less on each.   Because I don’t hear you saying anything positive here, only screeching about Palin and McCain.  So tell us what you and your candidate are actually for, and how that will positively affect change.

     Groundrules:

Bush is not running for reelection, so any mention of “failed policies of the last 8 years”, Bush or Cheney is out of bounds.
I would suggest “the mortgage mess”, “domestic energy policy” and “Supreme Court nominations”
    Ready, steady, go!

Obama is doing his classic “present”. He is not serious about drilling for oil in America. He has never supported it in legislation, he reluctantly has dipped a toe in that direction, but just like he gives himself an “out” with nuke power (he’ll only go for it when the “nuclear waste problem” has been solved to his satisfaction – translation: never), Barry immediately starts in on all the ways tapping American oil resources is a non-starter.

Barry is not for American interests for Americans. Barry is for American interests aligning as a “good world citizen.” He wants America as Europe, socialist, government controled speech, regulated exceptionalism.

My only silver-lining at this point looking at a triumvirate of Obama/Pelosi/Reid with their “eat the rich” tax policies, is the world wide Depression they trigger will force people to at least toss Democrats out of Congress in two years.

There’s nothing he can cut, Carin. To retain his sheeple, Obama must promise more. He only promises more and more and more. Feeding his beasts.

The American people lost out a long time ago. “A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct”. Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society comes to mind. That’s one of the skewing factors that set our current economic problems into motion.

Socialisms, entitlements, freebies, whatever you want to call ‘em. We fed the beast, now it’s coming back for more and more, and it’s getting bigger and bigger. We shouldn’t have ever gone there, at least not to the degree that we did.

One day after Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott sparked a national controversy by referring to Democratic presidential candidate as Barack Hussein Obama, the federal government is investigating a complaint about his remark and members of the local ACLU and NAACP have called for an apology, saying Scott’s action was racist.

Depends on if the dems get a super majority (veto-proof) in Congress.

Contrary to logic, I think it would become less of a priority in that case, in the short term.
