The Big Lacuna [Dan Collins]

I spent most of the day Wednesday in airports, without my computer, which I thoughtfully left home so that it could be broken.  As a result, I finally read Larry Wright’s The Path to 9/11, which was, as advertized, excellent in most respects.  As it wore on, though, I became increasingly surprised not to find Jamie Gorelick’s name mentioned anywhere.  Wright’s research was obviously meticulous, and among the many whom he interviewed was Sandy Berger, so it seems an odd omission.

Interestingly, as well, Wright, who’s in a much better position to opine about the matter than I, blames the construction of the wall on the CIA (principally) and FBI, who found it convenient to pin their impulses toward secrecy on what Wright characterizes (without saying why) as a misinterpretation of the memo–all without naming Gorelick once.  It could be that he thinks that it’s a distraction, and it could be that he’s explained this odd aspect of the work elsewhere, but I haven’t seen it.  Anyone else got a clue?

I’m wondering now, too, whether we’ll see the thing released on DVD, now that Mrs. Clinton’s out of the race.

Speaking of Big Lacunae, the best nationally syndicated conservative talk-show host in the US, in my view, Laura Ingraham, continues off the air for no stated reason. Here’s a station guide where you can find your local affiliate to complain about it (recommendation of Red State).

Laura Ingraham reportedly looked outside to other syndication networks to distribute her show since her contract was almost up, and her current syndicator had a hissy fit and is punishing her. But you probably already knew that.

  2. Sdferr says:

On Gorelick, strange the slack that is cut, for whom, how much. Dinner party doings? Who knows but the participants. Still, seeing her put on that first commission was a bit much, no?

  3. Pablo says:

Laura is taking over the 5 PM slot on Fox News. I dunno how much that has to do with her radio gig.

AJ Strata has it right, the Pakastani ISI is playing both sides of the fence. They’re like the Sim Carstairs character in The Outlaw Josie Wales who said, “You know in my line of work, you gotta be able either to sing “The Battle Hymn Of The Republic” or “Dixie” with equal enthusiasm… dependin’ upon present company.”

I thought I read that after they bounced E.D. Hill that Laura was getting her on show on FOX News. (oops, nevermind, it’s as Pablo said up there)

Laura’s a little on the conservative side for me, but I’d bang her.
