The Moore the Merrier

Inexplicably, Rand Simberg beat me to this: The Rocky Mountain News editorial editor Vincent Carroll’s “look” at “intellectual thug” Michael Moore:

savage judgments are Moore’s stock-in-trade. He is not merely a ‘gadfly filmmaker,’ as The Denver Post daintily characterized him in a headline this weekend. He’s also an intellectual thug.

Yet it seems that just as with the capitalists he so loathes, nothing can stop the forward accumulation of Moore’s wealth. He may not be able to think clearly or to write with any grace. He may be vulgar and he may be vicious. But he’s still got a book at the top of the charts.

Full disclosure: I liked Roger and Me.

Fuller disclosure: Moore is nevertheless a frumpy fat-ass in a bug-knicked, barbecue-sauce besmirched ballcap.

I read Carroll’s piece in the Rocky, all the while thinking; ‘Why are the blogs so absorbed with Rall when we have such a, errr, meatier target in Moore?’ So I’m glad to see at least two of you have taken the bait. Go with it.

The DU Econ Department in case anyone cares use Michale Moore as teaching material in most classes that I know about.
