Guilt by Association by Association, Revisited [Dan Collins]

Last week Jeff finished up an analysis of Obama’s radical ties, filtered through some of Jonah Goldberg’s observations, this way:

Today’s battle for the Democratic nomination is between two heirs of the New Left. What makes Clinton different, I believe, is that she is even more calculating, and as such, a worry to progressives who fear she might outmaneuver them, once she gains power. Whereas Obama is an unproven politician who will need to surround himself with the kinds of people who, in the sixties, were soaking in the neo-fascist ethos of the New Left, even if they weren’t outwardly participating in the “smashing of the establishment.”

– Which, in the case of Dohrne and Ayers and the Reverend Wright, doesn’t much apply.

Today, the Washington Post comes out talking about how Clinton is as deserving of “guilt by association” as Obama (which is to say, not at all, except insofar as she’s a hypocrite for criticizing him).  This rather stupid editorial, masquerading as a news article, points out that as a young woman she was actively leftist–as were Dohrn and Ayers.  Well, we know how far Clinton was willing to go to advance her agenda, and it doesn’t speak well of her.  Still, what Mrs. Clinton may have done in her callow youth doesn’t have the immediacy of Obama’s seeking out the political favor of unapologetic bombers at a seasoned age.  If we were to find that Mrs. Clinton played a role in the pardons of the FALN terrorists, for example, that might be a serious matter.  But as it stands, the argument is laughably tendentious.

They hate that woman. They really really hate her. Hillary should understand that. Really really internalize the message that I am she who is contemptible. It would bring her a lot of clarity I think.

Obama is radical, radical. If Americans will elect him he will become just like Fidel and expropriate all private property, put every one who voted for Bush in concentration camps and will force our best baseball players flee to Dominican republic and Japan

sashal – Is it fun arguing with the voices in your head?

  4. sashal says:

never argue with them voices , JD.
    Unhealthy for the person’s psyche

Then why do you do it?

Well of course she played a role in those. Hillary has puppeteered Bill .

Manipulation as an art form has never had a better commissar.

    Hmmm…snapping HTML like a twig.

Should’ve read “Hillary has puppeteered Bill since their school daze.”

  8. happyfeet says:

Yes. Wasn’t the FALN pardon key to bribing the New York Puerto Rico vote?

Uh… Dan… that would be *Jonah* Goldberg, I think.

  10. Dan Collins says:

    D’oh! Thanks, Russ.

Like-minded Socialist Party leader Hilter once said that even though Hillary is a Socialist her Socialism does not go as deep as does Obama’s.

I doubt he would be able to do this, but he could easily inflict the first hundred or so of the “death by a thousand cuts”.

(the last line has been redacted [is no lnger operational] for purely ethnic reasons)

Well, sometimes I use “The Lost Poop” just to keep myself amused.

It is a leftover from scatalogical post in the blurry past, so, when I am bored, I sometomes click on it in my drop down menu.

It serves it’s purpose. I laughed when I saw it…

Well it isn’t as though Hillary was 13 during her radical leftist days. If you are only looking at this very specific set of circumstances you may have something. But when looking at lifetime scumminess and calculating shrewdness this bitch makes Obama look like a piker. I haven’t voted for a Democrat in 35 years and I won’t start now. But as inexperienced and naive as Obama is he still doesn’t scare me like the mistress of evil. She sure wasn’t any spring chicken when she was in the White House with the neer do wells that trotted through there on a regular basis.

I just don’t see Hillary as ideologically motivated at all. Throughout this campaign, she has proven herself willing to pander to whichever group might get her closer to the WH. Witness her recent embrace of the great unwashed white vote, for example, it’s not like she feels any kinship with these folks.
