Update on Robert Pedersen and Dell [Dan Collins; UPDATED]

Robert emails to let me know that Dell got wind of our post and are taking care of the problem right now, so kudos for that.

Wrong.  Robert was just indicating that he’d been getting a lot of hits at his site from Dell addresses.  They haven’t done squat.  Maybe there are just a bunch of Dell people who think it’s jolly good fun.  If they don’t take care of this, we will start posting IP addresses of Dell visitors to demonstrate how proactive they are.  How’s that?

It’s always good to have a little clout on your side, ya know? Even if the boss hasn’t heard of PW, that 9,714,147 number must have given him quite a shiver…

  2. Dell’s downsizing something fierce. Most of those hits are probably from people who just got the axe.

I’ll bet there are quite a few folks at Dell who wish they could just contact Robert Pedersen and say “hey, I’ll take care of this for you.”

But that’s not how Dell customer support works. Very few people are empowered to actually help a customer. Their telephone support people certainly aren’t.

Robert’s only hope is that someone sends up the “bad publicity” red flag in his case. Like previously mentioned, fixing some guy’s computer, even when he’s paid for an onsite service contract, is not consistent with Dell’s business model.

Cookies is right. I need to call some Austin friends and check on them. It really sucks cause Dell has pissed so much away. Still, peeps will be better off hooking up with a better company.

So who still makes good PC’s?

    Anything new on this, Dan?

Hey, this guy’s done his part to cooperate and Dell obviously doesnt give a shit.. Why doesnt he just name them in a small claims suit for the cost of the computer plus warranty.. and maybe some pain and suffering to max out the amount sued for..? Win or lose Dell will have to spend more to address the suit than they would just replacing his computer..

I hate to say this, but I have a Gateway laptop, and have had it for almost three years and it’s still running good. I use it almost everyday. I do have a piece of 1″x1″ dowel under the back to cant the keyboard (makes typing easier) and I think it helps dissipate heat from underneath.

I think its guts are HP because they keep sending updates.

Sounds like it probably ought to be a class action suit, O.
