Detroit Cops in the News [Dan Collins]

Lucky Carin.  Interesting stuff is always happening near where she lives.

Detroit cop arrested when hitman charged on two murder counts claims he executed seven other hits, including Sgt. David Cobb’s wife Rose, murdered in their van while Sgt. Cobb ducked into the pharmacy.

Detroit. America’s grand experiment with bringing 3rd world values to our own shores.

My whole life I could go and never visit Detroit. It just seems kind of foul.

  3. Mikey NTH says:

Detroit was never featured on the show ‘COPS’.
There was a very good reason.

Sigh, it never ends. But, I SWEARS if anyone ever visits Detroit I could show you cool stuff. And I’m not talking about crack houses and what not. I mean, sure – there are those – but I’ll be sure to stick to the good streets. We’ve got the Henry Ford [museum] – it’ll knock your socks off.

Visited there once. Lived there for two years much later.

    You’re right; it’s kinda foul.

Carin, there are some nice bits in the Detroit area, and the Henry Ford museum is one of them. Sadly, they’re all overpowered by the bitterness and bigotry that seem to be the primary product of the local politics.

Some places are named after certain body parts, like Pittsburgh, or Jackson’s Hole.

I wonder what part Deh-TWAT (to use the French pronuciation) is named after?

  7. Carin TWPBH says:

Rob, I would say that the politics aren’t all the much in evidence when you’re out and about in the town. It’s really sad the assclowns who RUN things are able to dominate the perception of the town to such an extent.

Actually, one thing that is very interesting about Detroit is that although it is overwhelmingly black, what is overlooked is that it has a HUGE ethnic element. I dare say, pick just about any nationality and you can find an excellent restaurant specializing in it. Windsor has a large Asian population with restaurants that don’t serve menus in English. The Lebanese around the city is excellent. We even have a great Ethiopian restaurant (you eat with your fingers.) I could go on, but I don’t I can overcome the national perception of my city as a big pile of shit.

I think that is what drives most people the craziest about Detroit. There is so much potential. There is honestly NO REASON for it to have the problems it does.

Have a little respect for the twat, man. I’m a fan of the twat.

  9. Carin TWPBH says:

I mean, even the Suburbs surrounding Detroit are cool. Ferndale. Royal Oak. Grosse Pointe. Birmingham. Rochester.

But, really it’s just more fun to dump on Detroit.

We could all get together and buy an entire block of a downtown neighborhood, each house costing between $300 and $2500 – depending on amenities like windows and lack of corpses.

  11. alppuccino says:

    Detroit, that is.

  12. Mikey NTH says:

The Henry Ford Museum is in Dearborn – which is not Detroit. And for that the reason was Orville Hubbard.

  13. Dan Collins says:

Carin, part of the problem, it seems to me, is that many Detroiters romanticize and take a perverse pride in the badness of Murder City.

  14. Techie says:

I’ve been told the city center of Detroit is nice enough, but there’s a ring of rot around it separating it from the close suburbs.

  15. Mikey NTH says:

The center has gotten better, Techie, but when I went to school and then worked down there the center had a lot of rot also. In a way you’d go from ‘good block’ to ‘bad block’ by stepping around the corner.
