When Obama said Mr. Wright wrongly encouraged “a view that sees white racism as endemic,” everyone understood. Because they’re not, actually, stupid.

Poor blinkered Peggy. When Obama said white racism is not endemic he was circumscribing racism. It’s mostly just dippy old Republican white women like you and his grandma what are the problem. He’s looking forward to the part where you die.

this shite is soo wide spread, and USA is much better about it then many other places in the world.
I recall when living in the “internationalistic” USSR in the deep south in one of the Muslim republics, many non-Muslim women would stay away or try to avoid chance encounter with unknown Muslim man on the street, the racial and religious prejudices ran rampant on both sides, same I dare say happens in the majority of other countries with multi-ethnic or multi-racial population. Regrettable human atavism which can not be explained with rationale of the sane brain-be afraid or suspicious of everything which looks different or unfamiliar etc…
I was pleasantly surprised how far ahead of many others actually USA is, though I realize that some grievances and prejudices are still alive and dying out too slow.

    Typical white male..

No, I don’t want these ghosts to lay down. Not yet. It is about time that the discussion about race in this country got off the one-way street and onto the two way street.

  4. TaiChiWawa says:

Apparently there are oceans to say about the torn featherbed upon which the ghosts with their painful ganglia have been unlaid.

    You forgot Pat Buchanan

    The REAL no spin zone…

  6. buford gooch says:

OK, I tried to read that Clarissa Pinkola Estes piece, but my eyes glazed over. I’m afraid I became a “snoring frog” on the featherbed, lulled into insensitivity by her burdensome prose.

  7. The Ouroboros says:

OT but I gotta ask.. What mother names her baby “Pinkola”? … “Pinkola”.. That’s not even a freakin name.. That’s just a cruel thing to do to a baby.. Worse than naming your boy “Sue”..

  8. nishizonoshinji says:

  9. Dan Collins says:

Ah, you’re not depressed enough. Have another drink.

  10. GeoW says:

hf, pithy and profound as always. Re Noonon, I thought she was on track last week, I think it was, about Clinton, but this week she’s crazy again. Maybe she missed some of the speech — altho it was really more of a lecture than a speech.

She obviously did not personally experience or know anyone who did live thru the bussing etc. of the 70s or she would have realized how inadequately the lecture addressed those issues. He was utterly condescending. She must think it noble that he even mentioned those injustices.

    Her white guilt is showing.

What the fuck was that Pinkola woman talking about? Somebody needs to revoke her poetic license.
