This is very off topic but why do you all type the like “teh”?

  2. happyfeet says:

it’s just an idiom I think mostly but there’s a pedigree to it though – I saw a link once

  3. Dan Collins says:

“Teh” signals that you are using what follows ironically. It is a self-conscious, intentional error, like !!!111!!!!

  4. happyfeet says:

Teh has a similar use as an intensifier for unmodified adjectives, generally marking a sarcastic tone. For example, “that is teh lame” translates as “that is the lamest”.

I got that from the wiki article on ‘teh.’

  5. happyfeet says:

Furthermore, teh can be used in front of a verb in a novel form of gerund, and it has the ability to turn nearly any word into a noun. The best-known example of this is the word suck. Thus, the phrase “this sucks” can be converted into “this is teh suck;” the word pwn can be similarly converted (teh pwn or teh pwnage).

    behold teh power of teh

Ok thank you. Now if can anyone explain nichi’s writing I will owe them some money.

I disagree: it takes no time at all. The use of that style of writing is to make the comment a perfect metaphor for the Obama campaign — there’s no “there” there, so you end up arguing with something you’ve mostly had to imagine was there.

    Where’s Obama from again?

Among the things Chicago wants to be known for, having the highest total sales taxes of any major U.S. city is probably not one of them.

But that’s what it’s getting after the Cook County Board voted Saturday to double the county sales tax to 1.75 percent. When added to the city’s sales tax, the county’ increase has the cumulative effect of setting a 10.25 percent sales tax on goods bought in Chicago.

When the county rate increase takes effect in November, someone buying $100 worth of merchandise in Chicago would pay $110.25.
