Weather Report

Cloudy and overcast, with a progressive chance of forgiving terrorist bombings — and befriending those sophisticates who commit them — come November.

Part of all of that changyness and hopeitude, you see.

YES WE CAN!

  4. B Moe says:

Didn’t you get the memo, RTO? Christianists like McVeigh are the only domestic terrorists.

  5. Education Guy says:

Silly RTO, leftists don’t commit acts of terrorism. They commit acts of activism. Because they really, really, really care.

  6. nishizonoshinji says:

    wow…..all that stuff is so…so….old.
    praps they were terrorists then.
i maintain they are dylanists now.
    its a style issue.

  7. Education Guy says:

Have the Obama associates renounced their former membership and acts of violence?

  8. Jeff G. says:

Haven’t seen it nor read it, nishi. I do have a doc feature on the WU, though. And they were terrorists, even self-professed.

If you read the comments on IMDB, or on the message board, you’ll see that even today the desire to be a radical is strong among the bourgeois, who haven’t any idea what a real “war machine” looks like, or what real “fascism” and totalitarianism entails.

Or maybe they do, and are hoping to join the ruling elite.

  9. Jeff G. says:

    EG —

No, they haven’t. In one of the links, a 2001 piece in the NYT is excerpted, in which Ayers refuses to renounce what he did, and in fact thinks they didn’t do enough.

Taylor Marsh, last seen around these parts advocating for the Fairness Doctrine; and Larry Johnson, world-class nutjob — are no friends to conservatives. Which is why they themselves point out that putting up a candidate with these kinds of ties is a potential electoral disaster — ’72 all over again (a fitting end, really, to having to relive the entire Vietnam narrative).

Unfortunately, I think that we as a country have become so Oprafied and so dumbed down that a charismat like Obama can win, regardless — that form absolutely and finally will trump substance.

But then, I’m feeling rather cynical these days. And regardless, a progressive will occupy the White House in ’08.

Book burnings can’t be far behind.

  10. Education Guy says:

Ah, thanks. I think the link you may have meant for the Times piece is currently pointing to the first Marsh piece.

Dr. Seuss deserves to be burned. “Green Eggs and Ham” and “Hop on Pop” are clearly subversive materials. I mean Pop has balls, don’t you dare hop you little bastards.

  11. nishizonoshinji says:

i recommend both the book and movie.
the book is best in russian, but adequate in translation.
the movie is ……amazing….brit i think.
and relevent to wat we are discussin.

these guys were terrorists over 30 years ago.
    have they done anything since?

  12. RTO Trainer says:

Of course it’s old, that when tehre were such things as SDS and the Weatehrmen. There’s also a reason that they gave up and went home (Except for the aging WUO hippies who tried to hold up a Brinks armored car in 1981 and got what for when the police enegaged them in a gunfight.)

  13. Rob Crawford says:

    wow…..all that stuff is so…so….old.

No statute of limitations on murder. And terrorism, while typically inspired by aged losers, is a twenty-something’s game.

    praps they were terrorists then.

As Jeff pointed out, they used that label themselves.

i maintain they are dylanists now.

No, they’re still terrorists, no matter what euphemism you want to use. They have a lot in common with Robert Byrd, actually — members of terrorist organizations that have been rendered acceptable in that the dominant political culture sympathizes with their goals and romanticizes their methods.

  14. Rob Crawford says:

these guys were terrorists over 30 years ago.
    have they done anything since?

    You’re both pathetic and disgusting.

  15. nishizonoshinji says:

that is why i want jeffie to see that movie and read that book.
    terrorism is for the young.
for the actual operatives that is, the criminals and killers and bombers.

  16. LiveFromFortLivingRoom says:

    nishizonoshinji

So there is a statute of limitation on acts of terrorism? Please cite that for me I would love to read it.

  17. LiveFromFortLivingRoom says:

    nishizonoshinji

You are just a disgusting individual.

  18. nishizonoshinji says:

You are just a disgusting individual.

    why?
is it because……i can think outside ALL the boxes?

  19. ushie says:

nishi types: wow…..all that stuff is so…so….old.
    praps they were terrorists then.
i maintain they are dylanists now.
    its a style issue.

So, wait, if the bodies John Wayne Gacy had stuffed in his crawlspace hadn’t been discovered for 30 years, he wouldn’t be a disgusting serial killer? If Ted Bundy hadn’t been caught, and had given up on killing college coeds for 30 years, he wouldn’t be a disgusting serial killer?

What the FUCK is wrong with you, nishi? I’m sure you think you’re cute and all, but Good God, there is something really wrong with you if you don’t think murder and terrorism aren’t life-long indictments of one’s character.

Yeah, yeah, I know you don’t believe in God, blah blah yadda yadda. Type something really cute in your adorably off-kilter style, why don’t you?

  20. ushie says:

And what fucking cutesy boxes are you pretending you can think out of? The ones containing morality, ethics, and common sense?

  21. Wow…that’s so…cool.

  22. bjtexs says:

    Nishi:

If you knifed somebody to death 35 years ago, are you still a murderer today? Does it make a difference whether or not you were caught or got away with it? What if they are unrepentant for their acts. A muslim should know a little about sin, repentance and defiance.

There are former members of the IRA who are assimilated into society today. are they terrorists, former terrorists or has time and space made them, magically, something else?

You have a very distrubing moral equivalancy mindset that allows you to wail against “pro life” but shrug off admitted, unrepentant terrorists as “dylanists.”.

  23. nishizonoshinji says:

islam is about justice, tru, bj.

have these ppl not paid for their acts?
are u wanting them now to pay for their thots?

  24. RTO Trainer says:

    terrorism is for the young.
for the actual operatives that is, the criminals and killers and bombers.

    So?

  25. RTO Trainer says:

have these ppl not paid for their acts?

    No. They have not.

  26. nishizonoshinji says:

but..i thot there was no statute of limitations on murder.

  27. Jeff G. says:

We’ll see if Obama pays for his act — running for high office while counting among his contributors and political advocates those who championed blowing up government buildings and corporate facilities.

Or maybe all this assassination porn wrt Obama is really just paranoia about chickens coming home to roost. After all, if it’s okay for the WU to bomb buildings because they disagree with policy — and this is only extreme “activism” and forced changyness — maybe deep down inside progressives think, too, that it’s okay for some kook with a rifle to take Barry out simply because said kook disagrees with the policies of hopeitude.

  28. Darleen says:

have (sic) these ppl(sic) not paid for their acts?

Please link to their prison sentences and successfully completed paroles.

  29. nishizonoshinji says:

    darleen, not my job.

jeffie…that is why i really want u to watch We.
    for the empathy.

  30. JohnAnnArbor says:

This rear-guard action is too late to derail Obama’s nomination. It will, however, be cited in mid-November by Hillary supporters saying “I told you so!”

You are just a disgusting individual.

    why?
is it because……i can think outside ALL the boxes?

Funny. All I see is a woman in a box she can’t think her way out of. POV and all that.

BTW Dylan was in it for the money.

  32. nishizonoshinji says:

u need to unnerstand…this is weather underground to me.
    hi john
    go blue.

  33. nishizonoshinji says:

    rusty i dont lie.
    :)

  34. B Moe says:

u need to unnerstand…this is weather underground to me.

So how ignorant would you be if you weren’t so brilliant, you think?

  35. Education Guy says:

So all that arguing just to eventually admit that you really have no clue who WU even were. That’s really not so outside the box. It’s really like all the other folks who come here to argue based solely on they thoughts that exist within their head.

Willing to sell pieces of your soul for Obama’s sake?

  36. Darleen says:

    darleen, not my job

Yes it is, nishi. You implied that they HAVE paid for their acts.

    Prove it.

  37. Education Guy says:

they thoughts being my way of saying their thoughts

  38. Blind Howling Moonbat says:

But McCain was hanging out with lobbyists! LOBBYISTS!!1!!!!111!!

  39. Darleen says:

    nishi

To mix a few quotes, you’ve “opened” your mind so much, your brains have fallen out. You should realize that an open mind, like an open window, should have a screen to keep the bugs out.

  40. RTO Trainer says:

    “Yvgeny Zamytian’s Mbi”

Ayn Rand did it better and more believably in “Anthem.”

  41. nishizonoshinji says:

oh Zametian is 1000x cooler than rand.
have u read My Life as a Dog?

  42. ushie says:

You’re as easily distracted as a toddler or a small kitten, nishi.

  43. Jeff G. says:

Seems that suddenly, at least some Dems are — among themselves, naturally — beginning to regret the liberal media bias and cocooning of preferred candidates that they’ve long argued is just a product of wingnut paranoia.

Like, for instance, this comment from Marsh’s site:

I agree that the emotions are high here at the moment. But, understand this – my anger (and the anger of many here) is not that we are slightly behind. It is that this election process has shown some glaring unethical chinks in our system. And the unprecedented media pact to protect Obama from any scrutiny goes beyond this particular election. I know that the constant barrage of Hillary hate and sexist behaviors being dismissed seems to be fueling the anger here. But what has made me (and others) decide never to vote for Barack Obama is not typical. I don’t have a problem with his lack of experience, nor his policies (riffed from good people). The policies are similar. I want a Democrat in office. I could vote for almost anyone if I had to. But this?? This is different. We don’t have to just hold our noses and push a lever for a candidate – we have to also push that lever to accept what we see as a very immoral, unethical process that got him there. I cannot do that. I am an American first. If there had just been one or a few articles looking into the other side (on who really pushed the race issue or his boneheaded mistakes) I would say ok – business as usual. But you are asking me to vote to put a man in the office of President that is practically untouchable. That is just too scary. I believe in America, and our Democratic Republic.

    [My emphases]

The identity politics bed is of their own making, of course, so it’s a constant temptation to find glee in their coming to realize they may just have to lie in it; but in the final analysis, we all will: which is why we need a complete overhaul of the way we conceive of news media in this country, from the philosophical level on up to the proper and practical applications of journalism.

  44. nishizonoshinji says:

    trudat.

  45. nishizonoshinji says:

    but whatcha gonna do?
my position as an obamacan has always been that O is the lesser evil.

  46. B Moe says:

my position as an obamacan has always been that O is the lesser evil.

No. Your position is he has promised to give you money.

  47. RTO Trainer says:

And believed that you’d acutally see that money when actually any “savings” will be eaten up by the load placed on the system.

  48. serr8d says:

    all that stuff is so…so….old.

There are those of us who still think Patty Hearst pulled a fast one getting out of her obvious complicity in the Symbionese Liberation Army’s string of robberies and killings.

But, her 21-month sentence was commuted by Jimmah; she was pardoned by Cigar Boy. Thus is justice served, Democrat Style.

Now? A big Dem donor, probably.

  49. RTO Trainer says:

I guess I’ll chase the rabbit down the hole. (Usually a poor tactical move but sometimes necessary.)

With what or whom do you think Jeff should be empathizing, Nishi?

Jeff, were you aware that you somehow lack empathy?

  50. nishizonoshinji says:

    ?
    O hasnt promised me $.

well….im goin on strike until feets comes back and jeffie watches “We”.
    cya

  51. JHoward says:

i can think outside ALL the boxes?

but obviously not all the vernaculars
    so how bout this
as mouthbreathinredstater i cant thnk outsid yer fabulous boxes
so go the f away and nvr com bak

  52. B Moe says:

    ?
    O hasnt promised me $.

He announces he is dropping support for your pet biotech projects and you are still going to support him?

You are confined by a very tiny box, it is just to dark in there for you to realize it.

  53. JHoward says:

In other words, nishi, the lowest form of enlightenment is that which attempts to appeal to the cheapest strawmen. As was pointed out, you occupy one box, you do not skirt the periphery of many.

You are a minor dimension disguising itself as a comprehensive perspective.

  54. Jeff G. says:

Au contraire. The world is too much with me, RTO.

  55. Merovign says:

Nishi, if you really think terrorism and murder is just a “youthful indiscretion,” then in fact you ARE pathetic and disgusting. Do you really think that shooting people or blowing them up is “cute” or a matter of “style?”

Are you just a psychopath or are you so absorbed in your own fantasy world that you’ve turned into some kind of bloodthirsty solipsist, for whom no one else exists except as an object for your actions?

“Demented and revolting” might be better than “pathetic and disgusting,” but either applies.

Seek psychological help. Seriously. Before you talk yourself into a “youthful indiscretion” and carve up some teenage fry cook you feel represents “the system.”

  56. B Moe says:

There are those of us who still think Patty Hearst pulled a fast one getting out of her obvious complicity in the Symbionese Liberation Army’s string of robberies and killings.

But, her 21-month sentence was commuted by Jimmah; she was pardoned by Cigar Boy. Thus is justice served, Democrat Style.

How long has Eric Rudolph served? What would the reaction be if Bush commuted his sentence?

  57. Semanticleo says:

“my position as an obamacan has always been that O is the lesser evil.”

    Nishi;

Jeff’s empathy is entombed in his wish he had an Obama.

Don’t dare suggest HIS lesser weevil is McCain.

  58. B Moe says:

That would be an interesting study, if anyone has the time. Right wing domestic terror attacks/convictions/sentences compared to left wing.

  59. Karl says:

Too bad nishi left. I was going to ask her to get in touch the surviving family members and tell them those murders are old.

  60. Karl says:

And if she’s on strike until Jeff watches some movie, I am going to demand that she hold herself to it and that Jeff never watch that movie.

  61. Jeff G. says:

Jeff’s empathy is entombed in his wish he had an Obama.

This is news to Jeff, who is also curious what this has to do with his ethical positioning with respect to the Weather Underground.

But Jeff is sometimes slow on the uptake, his being a failed academic and all.

  62. Rob Crawford says:

islam is about justice, tru, bj.

Which is why so many of its adherents consider it “holy” to shout “Allahu Akbar!” while emptying an AK into an occupied car seat.

  63. LiveFromFortLivingRoom says:

Islam is about justice but christianity is about ignorance and oppression? Wow such idiocy should be given a word in the dictionary or a medal.

  64. Darleen says:

Which is why so many of its adherents consider it “holy” to shout “Allahu Akbar!” while

emptying an AK into an occupied car seat. OR
sawing off an infidel’s head OR
stoning to death a woman buried up to her shoulders, still properly veiled of course OR
preventing young women from escaping a burning building if they aren’t properly tented OR
plunging a knife into the chest of dog infidel on a public street for the crime of making a movie about the misogyny of Islam OR
marking for death any infidel who writes, cartoons, speaks any criticism of Islam OR

    yadda yadda yadda

  65. LiveFromFortLivingRoom says:

How about a little experiment ok? You walk down the street of Vatican city with a picture of an upside down cross on your shirt. Then you go to the streets of Meccah and you wear a shirt with a picture of Mohammed on it.

  66. Carin says:

    wow…..all that stuff is so…so….old.

I know this comment has been beaten to death already, but I was working out …

You know what else was really old? Some of those sexual assult accusations in the Catholic Church. Were not a few of those priests as old as dirt, and the child victims pushing middle age? Funny … I don’t remember the liberal side of the isle sniffing that the crimes were ancient history.

  67. Rob Crawford says:

Then you go to the streets of Meccah and you wear a shirt with a picture of Mohammed on it.

Or, wait, let’s have a Catholic walk through Mecca with a Mohammed t-shirt! Oh, wait. That’s right — non-Muslims aren’t even allowed in Mecca.

  68. RTO Trainer says:

    B Moe,

I got a jump start on it, with the events listed and I just broke them out as Left and Right.

All anyone would have to do is lookup the consequences to the perpetrators.

Of course there’s the HillBillary connections to FALN, too. So both Democratics running have their connections to terrorism.

  71. nishizonoshinji says:

    et tu, Karl?
    okfine.
    1. i assume the perps have served their time..otherwise O and bilary are visitin them in jail….an theyd have little
fundage to contribute. if they dont think they have done wrong, well….that is thot crime territory.

    2. the jihaadis are not muslims. Muhammed says, in the Qur’an, that one who kills an innocent, is as if he kills the whole world. those ppl are muslims in the exact same way that Charles Taylor is a christian.
except….in this country we have a freakin industry devoted to ferreting out the jihaadi translation of the Qur’an..agreeing with them…corroborating their exegesis as it were.
u know nothing about my religion.
however, i have experienced urs from the inside.

    3. since u can’t make fun of porch monkeys and niggers and kikes and sheenies anymore, i guess its fine to make fun of my burkha and my g spot. knock urself out.

    4. rusty, where did i lie?
    dish some empirical data dude.

    5. i wanted jeffie to experience the movie/book to see if he gets the same….feel i did, is all.

  72. Good Lt. says:

For that progressive, “edgy” moron nishizonoshinji, I’ve got two words.

    TOOKIE. WILLIAMS.

Wasn’t it the progressives, including Democrat race pimp Jesse Jackson, who tried to acquit this murderer who killed a man by shooting him point blank in the face with a shotgun? Multiple times?

Oh, but he wrote a children’s book and said sorry.

    That makes it all better.

    F*cking moron.

  73. nishizonoshinji says:

how does that make me a supporter of either jesse or tookie?

  74. nishizonoshinji says:

im a cardcarrying member of the NRA too.
    :)

  75. JD says:

Just imagine for a moment, a Republican meeting with a know domestic terrorist, as a right of political passage. If anyone ever wondered about how patently unserious of a candidate he is, this and his Captain Dan story should serve well to dispell that myth.

  76. JD says:

nishi’s levels seem a bit out of whack today.

  77. Karl says:

    nishi broke her strike.

    liar.

  78. nishizonoshinji says:

    touche!

    alright.
    adieu Karl

  79. RTO Trainer says:

    1. i assume the perps have served their time..otherwise O and bilary are visitin them in jail….an theyd have little fundage to contribute. if they dont think they have done wrong, well….that is thot crime territory.

Your’e asking about FALN? They are still in jail because they wouldn’t accet the terms of the clemncy they were offered. Doesn’t change that Clinton offered the clemency and Hillary supported it.

    2. the jihaadis are not muslims.

True. Also completely beside teh point. You bring this up to distract form your flailing argument.

u know nothing about my religion.

You know nothing about what we know about.

    3. since u can’t make fun of porch monkeys and niggers and kikes and sheenies anymore, i guess its fine to make fun of my burkha and my g spot. knock urself out.

I begin to doubt that you are a muslim. You wear a burkha? Seriously? The charges of racism, again are simply your poor attempt to distract.

    4. rusty, where did i lie?
    dish some empirical data dude.

You’ve said several times that you were not going to comment any more, that you had other thngs to do.

  80. Semanticleo says:

“But Jeff is sometimes slow on the uptake, his being a failed academic and all.”

Indeed. Or rather, he thinks all his visitors are slow on the uptake.

    Weathermen, indeed.

  81. carefulicanverifythat says:

im a cardcarrying member of the NRA too.
    :)

Care to provide your member ID number?

  82. RTO Trainer says:

    Weathermen, indeed.

This really is going to be the new standard isn’t it?

A new defining ideological point between Liberals and Conservatives. Liberals will minimize (Semanticleo, indeed), appologize (Nishi, but that was so long ago) and excuse (the Clintons and clemency and Obama and his friends) terrorists.

Why not. Makes it easier to tell them apart.

  83. Semanticleo says:

“Why not. Makes it easier to tell them apart.”

    Indeed.

    When asked the difference between idiots and genius, Einstein replied;

    “Genius has it’s limits”

But that’s not a new standard, just new to you.

  84. RTO Trainer says:

For sure there’s no limit on your capacity for nonsequiter, Cleo.

  85. Obstreperous Infidel says:

Muhammed killed innocents. Or rather had his followers/acolytes kill them for him. I guess the definition of “innocents” is up for debate.

  86. Jeff G. says:

Or rather, he thinks all his visitors are slow on the uptake.

To borrow from Stand By Me, “No, just you, Ace.”

  87. Semanticleo says:

“To borrow from Stand By Me, “No, just you, Ace.””

Sorry you have no Obama. but it’s not my fault McCain is the anointed one.

  88. Jeff G. says:

Who said it was your fault? And why on earth would I want another Obama? For my money, McCain is too close to him in too many ways already.

Now, if you’re talking about an empty suit with no real governing history that I can graft my hopes and dreams for an ideological Utopia on to — a slick tabula rasa upon which to project my desires, or a man in a mirrored suit reflecting back to me everything I want to see without committing to a single bit of it — I don’t want one of those, either.

But if all you’re talking about is a candidate to get excited over, yeah, I wish I had one of those. But evidently my standards are a bit higher than yours. The cult of personality doesn’t particularly move me. I know how charisma works, and to what ends it has been put to political use by those devoid of a coherent plan and substantive ideas.

  89. Darleen says:

    Sorry you have no Obama

are you channeling Louis Prima, cleo?

  90. Darleen says:

if you’re talking about an empty suit with no real governing history that I can graft my hopes and dreams for an ideological Utopia on to — a slick tabula rosa upon which to project my desires, or a man in a mirrored suit reflecting back to me everything I want to see without committing to a single bit of it

    Ah, the Fungible Mr. Obama.

  91. Education Guy says:

except….in this country we have a freakin industry devoted to ferreting out the jihaadi translation of the Qur’an..agreeing with them…corroborating their exegesis as it were.

Right. You can tell this is true by how loudly the true Muslims are screaming at the fake ones to cut the shit out.

Oh wait, the ones who are doing that, get nothing but contempt from the likes of you, while actual terrorists like the WU get a pass.

  92. McGehee says:

    a slick tabula rosa

Let’s leave Miss Johnnie Edwards out of this, m’kay?

  93. Darleen says:

    Yes, we have no Obama
We have a no Obama today
We want can do and know how
not doe eyes and bright smile
with all sorts of wordplay but say
We have an old fashioned war hero
With charisma near zero But yes, we have no Obama
    We have no Obama today

    with apologies to Louis Prima

  94. Jeff G. says:

Can we call a black man “fungible”? Or is that racist?

    I lost my manual again.

  95. Good Lt. says:

    Yup. It’s racist. And blasphemous.

You’ve spoken ill of the Lord Your Obama.

    Now repent, or else.

  96. Rob Crawford says:

Muhammed killed innocents. Or rather had his followers/acolytes kill them for him. I guess the definition of “innocents” is up for debate.

Well, yeah. Much like “jihad is only defensive” — the definition of “defensive” is rather elastic.

Let’s not forget the penalty for leaving Islam — death. Just what offense has been committed by someone who finds they no longer believe?

  97. Darleen says:

Can we call a black man “fungible”?

I thought we were talking about Obama?

  98. Sean M. says:

Iowahawk has to get on this, if he hasn’t already.

  99. B Moe says:

the jihaadis are not muslims. Muhammed says, in the Qur’an, that one who kills an innocent, is as if he kills the whole world. those ppl are muslims in the exact same way that Charles Taylor is a christian.
except….in this country we have a freakin industry devoted to ferreting out the jihaadi translation of the Qur’an..agreeing with them…corroborating their exegesis as it were.
u know nothing about my religion.

nishi, who has been a Muslem for a whole year now, excommunicates millions of people who have been for generations. Just like that! What does the Quran say about pride and arrogance, nish?

  100. Merovign says:

Nishi has just appointed herself Caliph.

What was I saying about solipsism earlier?

I sure hope Nishi goes to Mecca and lets everyone know, that should take care of that.

  101. Sean M. says:

It’s really no wonder that this Nishi person isn’t bothered much by bloodthirsty killers. I mean, check out where the name comes from.

  102. Pablo says:

except….in this country we have a freakin industry devoted to ferreting out the jihaadi translation of the Qur’an.

You got a problem with Abdullah Yusuf Ali, Mohammed Marmaduke Pickthall, M. H. Shakir and Muhammad Asad? Do explain.

  103. Crimso says:

    “Sorry you have no Obama”

Don’t be sorry. Not as long as having no Obama also means having no Dohrn or Ayers.

  104. Challeron says:

Sean M, that explains much about the “multiple personalities” of our very own nitwit-nishi….

  105. Andrew says:

I thought porch monkeys were the same as niggers. My faith in Kevin Smith will be utterly shattered if not.
