Today, with Oprah Winfrey solidly in the camp of Sen. Barack Obama, rival candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton took her act to the Tyra Banks Show for a frank discussion about Bill Clinton’s infamous fling with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Because of the empathy.
Nevertheless, Tyra seems a bit B-List for a Clinton. Hillary would seem to ba a natural fit for Ellen DeGeneres, who is, after all… more loved than Oprah, according to the latest Harris poll. Indeed, Ellen was even more loved by single women, a prized demographic in the Democratic campaign. Plus, Hillary and Ellen share a certain predisposition to cry on camera.
However, it appears that Obama has danced with Ellen. One can only imagine what Hillary makes of that. She did talk about her dancing dreams with Tyra. If only she could dance with Ellen…
This has been “Today in Identity Politics.â€Â
And the song? “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”.
This would be truly revolting were it not so fucking funny. Please, please, please Allah, don’t let it end.
Tyra is kind of slumming it, but it definitely shows that Hillary is banking way heavy on women. Tyra and Ellen are produced by the same people, so there could be some scheduling discussion behind the scenes there.
This is truly becoming horrific. Tyra Banks? It’s bad enough that Bill Clinton is shilling for wifey. Now we’re running around the ex-model circuit, airing our dirty pantaloons. I’ve about had it with this whole buffoon parade. Can we haz substance? Or is that just something drug dealers get busted for anymore?
Can we haz substance?
You were expecting anything other than this?
cynn, the correct answer is “probably not in our lifetimes.” The McGovern boil was not lanced because it would be too painful, the infection has gone systemic, and the immune system is compromised. Prognosis: poor.
<fx: heavy breathing into microphone> wheeeeeeeezsth Have you studied the record sssthwheeezsth of John McCain? sssthwheeeezsth Is there anything there sssthwheeeezsth that you deeply object to? sssthwheeeezsth

Ric
JD: Why yes, I was expecting a nominally intelligent discussion of some salient issues. Among those on my radar in no particular order:
Collapsing economy
Sputtering Middle East “transformation”
Botched Afghani/Irag wars
Lack of response to African genocides
General ham-fisted diplomatic policy
etc.
When they want to talk, I’m willing to listen.
What is collapsing the economy, cynn?
How would you have handled African genocide? Like W, or like Slick Willie?
How should we negotiate with Madeline Albright’s dance partner and “we ain’t go us no fags in our country” ?
Ric, I’m not sure what you mean. You most likely blame the substance malady on the left, and I would have to concede much of that.
All those things are negative things, cynn. It’s like you’d just be happy if we got back to the status quo in your head. Hopey Dem and Changey Dem are about so much more than that.
JD: Well, sit through the ride for a year, and don’t invest any money. As for Africa, I would have committed forces and whacked the corrupt heads of state and their proxies. I mean, the natives either fall into line or die, right? Diplomacy lite.
Third question, WTF.
cynn – I want to learn more. How is our economy collapsing?
Yup, sending American soliders is okay when there are no security interestes for the US, but we are warmongering bloodthirsty killers when we act on our own interests. Look at things like Haditha, and then try to guess how long it would take the jackals in the press to write a story about the US slaughtering black people.
I was referencing our “ham fisted” diplomacy with Kim Jong Il and Imacrazydinnerjacket.
Back to the Dems identity politics. Now the race is down to Hillary and Obama, with Silky still barking around near their ankles. The debate tonight seemed to be are you going to vote for a black man, or a white woman. Edwards is SOL in the identity politics sweepstakes, and is practically the anti-Christ. One progg wrote in that she was being forced to choose between a black and a woman. Forced, I tell you.
Why does everyone talk about a collapsing economy? I am surrounded by people who live in million dollar houses and drive hundred-k dollar cars. All seems pretty well from that point, but maybe it’s just Atlanta, GA.
As for the other topics, well, Iraq is under control; Afghanistan is under control; wossname, mad plane bomber, is still hiding and ineffectual in a cold mountain bunker, owning nothing native but his yak-hair underpants; Africans continue to die quietly; the world may hate us, but it’s still trying to sneak in over the border. Jeez. Most of our problems are phantasms.
I can sympathize. I remember how 1996 was for us Republicans.
Bob Dole: It’s His Turn. “Wake up, America!” Yeesh.
Though, the Democrats’ nominee might could come up with a passably humorous riff: “Wake up, Fred Thompson!”
I would have committed forces and whacked the corrupt heads of state and their proxies. I mean, the natives either fall into line or die…”
– Sounds perilously like “Nation building lite” cynn. And what, pray tell, would you do about all the surrender monkeys in your party, deport them? Only a dyed in the wool Democratic Left-wing Liberal could scream condemnation over one war, while breathlessly lobbying for yet another. Political expediency. The Lefts all-purpose substitute for a moral compass.
– And more “bad news is good news” for the Dems. So get out there and produce some damnit.
– Collapsing economy Well the Dems need it, so it must be true. Hell, with the help of the mediots we should be able to talk our way into a decent recession just in time for the elections. Remember guys. 4% unemployment proves nothing!
– Sputtering Middle East “transformation†: First the Left defines the “evil Neocon” goals as transformation, then when the in power party takes a whopping 5 whole years to halt and reverse a 1700 year Celiphate, jump on them for gross negligence and failure to achieve same. Best part is that this sort of mendaceous bullshit often works.
Botched Afghani/Irag wars : The proper Dem mantra for evading the invasion, and all responsibility thereof, is to point out that 68% of the public are against the Iraq/Afghan wars. Actually probably 95% of anyone with common sense hates war. which is to say, hating war is a human natural reaction to the idea of killing or being killed. Unfortunately, as in so many cases with the Dem Left, saying this has nothing to do with whether you are required to defend yourself and your country. In fact its a great way to simply duck the issue entirely, and play the isolation card, because, well you know, only an ass actually puts his/her ass on the line for anything. Theres always some slick “intelligent” way to avoid real responsibility, and after all, as was said, the majority of Americans are against the war. (Be sure to insert the word “the” to morph this generalization into Bush’s war specifically.)
Lack of response to African genocides : (see above.)
General ham-fisted diplomatic policy
etc. : Loose translation in Dem-o-kease: “We need bad, so in general talk doom and gloom. The only way to world peace is to give them all basketballs. the bad boys will fold like lawn chairs in the face of that sort of powerful statesmanship.
– Someone needs to tell Bin Laden that hes just a basketball away from no longer needing a purposeful life of Jihad. Seems so simple.
When they want to talk, I’m willing to listen.
– When you demand that your premise is the gospel in the face of a mountain of contra evidence, its doubful anyone will want to engage you in dialog.
Big Bang – Yep, all those evil peeps just gotsta get thems some Basketball Jones. That’s WHAT I’m talkin bout! Peace, out.
Plus, Hillary’s got to talk to the sistahs not the white bitches.
Because it’s an election year. Actual economic data is not allowed to penetrate the Media Narrative.
Inexplicably, surveys tend to focus on “how do you feel the economy is going” rather than “how would you rate your economic condition”. The former question is influenced by sob stories and media fear-mongering; the latter would tend to get more of an assessment of the personal state of individuals.
