Something about the word daddyblogger just doesn’t work for me.
Is Amanda aware of this blatant exercise in PATRIARCHY??!
Maybe cause I just watched Blue Velvet again over Christmas.

Just like real life!
Half of the page is off the right side of the screen, impossible to read. Just like my AXW (Almosy Ex Wife). Fits my life perfectly!
PERFECTLY!
I was born in Grand Rapids. That matters not one little bit, but it seemed relevant when I started typing.
JD- so was I!
Ron Smith is a good egg and he’s doing yeoman’s work in pulling a movement together.

Sorry, Robert… I was flashing back to Blue Velvet where this is kind of one of my favorite lines in a just funny way not in a misogynistic
I can’t explain why that’s so funny but it is. Maybe just cause it’s Isabella Rossellini.
… misogynistic way is what that’s supposed to say
Now I get it and yes it is funny! Thanks…I was just kidding with you as I am sure you know. Take care
MayBee – Yet another reason why you are awesome.
I would like to thank Protein Wisdom for picking up the National Fatherhood Summit and would like to invite everyone, mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers to register and attend. We have an obligation to hold family relationships as primary in this country. Please go to http://www.dcrally2008.com/events/2008-National-Fatherhood-Summit.php
Thanks Ron Smith
Children need both parents. It takes a man and a woman to create a life. It’s only common sence that the life created needs both parents to guide it through life. Our present system divides this union for profit. This has to stop! The Fatherhood Summit is the first in a number of events planned in ’08 to bring both parents back into the lives of their children, equally! Mothers, Fathers, Aunts, Uncles and Grand Parents are all intrical to the healthy upbringing of our children. Mothers and Fathers need to be equally involved in their childrens upbringing, regualdless of marital status.
Ron, it’s awfully nice to see you here. I wish I could do the Summit, but it isn’t going to happen. I will see you again in DC though. Keep up the most excellent work and keep being the change you wish to see in the world. Much respect.
Thanks for taking the time to cover something that actually matters to families and our future. It is time to take our families back in 2008 and we will try to keep you busy with all we bring to the fight
The fatherhood summit has a political agenda. Its about spiltting children 50/50 after their parents divorce. I do not know everything about Ron Smith’s divorce but from what I have read he and his ex wife battled over their kids for many years. Even at his son’s funeral there were contentions. I believe that what these father’s rights groups propose would be detrimental to children because it doesn’t address the underlying problem which is the parents themselves using their children as pawns in a sick power struggle.
“I believe that what these father’s rights groups propose would be detrimental to children because it doesn’t address the underlying problem which is the parents themselves using their children as pawns in a sick power struggle.”
Wrong. It would be beneficial. The benefits of shared parenting and stable households are well-known. Except in cases where there was proven abuse or neglect or other mitigating circumstances, mandatory shared custody would do away with custody disputes, thereby removing the ability of all but the most devious parents to use their children as pawns.
I like to use the mandatory DNA argument as an example. People who are opposed to mandatory DNA testing for reasons other than privacy argue that requiring DNA testing would cause arguments because women would feel like they weren’t trusted. This would not be true because the woman and the man would not have to broach that subject because it would be mandatory for both parties. The only arguments that would result would come when it was proven that the woman was deceptive. Well, the same principle could be used here. If shared parenting were mandatory, the only time it that would be detrimental would be when either party was an unfit parent.
I can’t believe that I had to explain that to people.
