Caught Beck in SLC and saw that “extra show” he did. It was a Mormon thing; the rest of y’all wouldn’t have gotten the in-jokes.
He’s sure an amazing performer. I wasn’t aware that his voice work was so good. They had recordings of him from back in the day: his voice was awfully mature-sounding when he was young. He started broadcasting at 13, so they had a Happy 30 Years in Broadcasting thing going on, with people like Anderson Cooper and Rush wishing him good luck. And an improv interview between him and Cooper (from this year) that was fall-down funny: “If you become famous, how will that change your life?”
They also had photos of the Young Master Beck, and he looked like the kind of kid you’d want to smack just to wipe the smirk off his face.
