A (new yellow) Star is Born

Probably nothing malicious in any of this.  Just an academic exercise.  A way to get at the truth so that we can understand it and figure out ways to correct those problems that keep blocking the way toward American progress. Namely, hate and extremism.  Which, evidently is the bailiwick of the “right.”  We know this because, well, they don’t agree with progressives, and progressives stand against hate and against extremism.

“Elimination of debt ceiling passes House”

House GOP turns power of the purse over to the imperial President. Who likely won’t use his new-found (albeit “temporary”) powers to invent and spend money that doesn’t exist — in a move that in fact acts as a “partial repeal of representative government” — in any way that could be described as “malicious.” Frankly, I’m embarrassed that you’d even suggest such a thing. And I’m talking to you who

“Shock claim: Obama only wants military leaders who ‘will fire on U.S. citizens'”

Alinsky. Cloward-Piven. Is it really that far fetched that Obama would read Ayers’ Prairie Fire Manifesto as an operator’s manual?  Examiner.com: On Monday, renowned author and humanitarian Dr. Jim Garrow made a shocking claim about what we can expect to see in Obama’s second term. Garrow made the following Facebook post: I have just been informed by a former senior military leader that Obama is using a new “litmus test”

Hillary: the truth is somewhere in my cankles. Gaze upon them if you dare.

Hillary Clinton’s Senate testimony, open thread. Which, at this point, it doesn’t much matter what she says. We’re just thankful that she finally has here health! Anyway, I would make this a drinking game — one shot of whatever it is they drink in Benghazi to mask the pain for each lie a recuperated and (finally) well-prepped Ms Clinton tells — but then I’d probably be booked on accessory to

“I simply take what is given to me.” [Darleen Click]

Ah, Britain’s own Life of #Julia Natalija Belova, 33, told The Sun how she spurns full-time work — yet can afford foreign holidays and buys designer clothes. The Lithuanian said: “British benefits give me and my daughter a good life.” She has milked soft-touch Britain for £50,000 in benefits and yesterday said: “I simply take what is given to me.” Overjoyed Natalija told how she lives a life of luxury

“In the midst of Texas school shooting CNN reporter trolls twitter users for photos”

Like vultures, these people. Here’s an idea: instead of working on “gun control,” howsabout we start working on media glorification of mass shootings, often framed as shock and outrage — but never to the point where they will refuse to try to document every detail and make a permanent celebrity of the killer. Provided it isn’t the President or the Justice Department, of course. One has one’s journalistic standards. *****

A call to arms. So to speak.

From Dudley Brown, National Association of Gun Rights: Dear Jeff, Harry Reid has a plan to gut the Senate filibuster to clear a path to pass gun control — and the fight is happening in Washington, D.C. RIGHT NOW! That’s why it’s critical Republican U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell hear from gun owners loud and clear. Please call Mitch McConnell — at once — and urge him to stop

CT gun owners soon to enjoy more de facto gun free zones!

Typical liberal political maneuvering: your first set of irresponsible legislation set the stage for mass slaughter of innocents. So naturally the answer is to express outrage, then double down by punishing law-abiding gun owners, turning many of them who will almost assuredly refuse to comply into instant criminals. And maybe “crazy people.” — Which seems to be the progressive’s tack: turn law-abiding gun owners into criminals with mental health issues

“Good man,” redux

Only this time, I’m not on the hot seat. Let me just say this, quickly: if we as conservatives are not willing at this point — having been called enemies, racists, murderers, potential terrorists, et al., by our own government — to accept that what we’re dealing with is indeed a malicious attack on our individual sovereignty and an intentional plan to undermine our constitutional republic and replace it with

Still a bit under the weather

Amazingly, Obama’s coronation — with its attendant resplendency and its overtly evangelical overtones — didn’t cure me. Maybe next time, if he does some snake handling… At any rate, I’ve agreed to appear, likely from the comfort of one of my bathrooms, with Cam and Co. on NRA News at 2:40 ET, to discuss my response to Josh Marshall’s frankly strange piece on gun tribalism, which was, incidentally, the “reasonable-sounding”
