“Obama had said I could keep my doctor. Now they’re doing away with my doctor. They kicked him out!” [Darleen Click]

ObamaCare’s gutting of Medicare Advantage marches on

Elderly New Yorkers are in a panic after getting notices that insurance companies are booting their doctors from the Medicare Advantage program as a result of the shifting medical landscape under ObamaCare.

That leaves patients with unenviable choices: keep the same insurance plan and find another doctor, pay out of pocket or look for another plan where their physician is a member.

New York State Medical Society President Sam Unterricht is demanding a congressional probe after learning that one health carrier alone, UnitedHealthcare, is terminating contracts with up to 2,100 doctors serving 8,000 Medicare Advantage patients in the New York metro region.

The are 2.6 million elderly New Yorkers who receive Medicare, the public heath-insurance program for the elderly.

But one in three patients — nearly 900,000 — are enrolled in Advantage, Medicare HMOs run by private insurers.

Of course, Obama apparatchiks and cronies, like AARP, put the blame on “private insurers”

AARP Associate Director Shaun Flynn said Medicare Advantage is a popular program but cautioned it’s privately run, and insurers — not patients — decide which doctors participate.

‘It’s a case of buyer beware,” he said.

AARP, it should be noted, supported ObamaCare specifically because it was going to squash its competition and give AARP a windfall of $2.8 billion. Not to mention that AARP is in the thick of outreach and education.

Fascism has its rewards for the cronies.

This problem is not getting enough play. In Missouri, for example, Anthem BC/BS had to eliminate the hospitals associated with Washington University Medical School, a perennial top 15 U.S. hospital, because of federally mandated reimbursement rates. The second best hospital system in StL was removed, as well. Thus are Missourians shut out of the best medical treatment available, thanks to O-care. Hope and Change, indeed.

  2. The net result of Obamacare so far is that fewer people have insurance and on avergae those thoat do are paying more for it with fewer choices.

And yet our resident stupid lefty troll claims health insurance = medical care.

At the rate things are going, Americans will be required to pay for health insurance that offers nothing in the way of benefits.

Perhaps Justice Roberts wasn’t to far off when he called Obamacare a “tax.”

    Until they outlive there usefulness.

In the case of the AARP’s membership, literally!

It always comes as a shock to the useful idiots when they find out what happens when they’re no longer useful.

Anybody in the AARP, or who listens to them is old and stupid Darleen.

    By definition.

It’ll be working in December. Really.

Given that this waterhead’s only apparent qualifications consist of “capable of jamming Obama’s penis several feet down his throat”, I wouldn’t rely on that estimate too much.

  13. Blake says:

SBP, that statement will be memory-holed once the deadline passes and MBM will continue to display a stunning lack of curiosity about the missed deadline.

  14. bgbear says:

At this point it probably would have just been cheaper to simply pay the medical bills of just about anyone who asked.

My plan ( if convinced the gov’t needed to get involved) would have been if you can’t afford to pay your medical bills, you simply applied for a grant and/or low interest loan. It would leave the rest of us alone and actually help those who wanted the assistance (deserving or not).

I think my system would be cheaper to administer and would leave enough room for graft to keep the crooks in government happy.

“Ok,” sez Flo, “done. Call it by name.”

Yeah, good luck keeping that lie going.

I thinkt hat a lot of women (maybe even binders full of them) are going to compare and contrast the free birth control they are getting with with the insurance plan or doctor they currently have (and like) that they are losing and realize that Obazmo has screwed them over royally.

And all because Sandra Fluke preferred to spend that $9 on that extra-tall latte with double foam instead of her monthly prescription.

Wait until Sandra finds out that her prescription isn’t “free” until after that $4-8,000 deductible.

Which is why I almost quit the Moose outright almost a year ago when I discovered they had signed me up for AARP without asking me. They claimed they gave notice but it was on an “opt out” basis and if you happened not to read every shred of paper the Moose sent you during the “notice” effort they took that to mean you were LIV stupid okay with it enough to go along with it.

They got me out of AARP because I raised a stink, but I also won’t be renewing Moose.

Bullshit. This is part what I got in the mail in July from my primary care provider.

So when we have discovered that the website has failed, we are told to call (800) F1U-CKYO to speak to some person (even assuming you can actually get to speak to a real person, and not just hear the “just log on to our helpful website” recordings) they have to log onto the same failed website in order to get the same failed response.

No problem! You can just fill out paperwork and do it exactly as though Obama hadn’t fucked everything up!

Except that in order to find out if the plan you want qualifies and determine whether you qualify for subsidies, the people processing that hard copy paperwork have to log on to the same website that failed in steps 1 and 2…

    PROGRESS!
