Histrionic Left lectures: Even running against His Holiness Obama is RAAAAACIST [Darleen Click]

Daily Beast’s Michael Tomasky takes it to 11

Until yesterday, I thought of Mitt Romney as a spineless, disingenuous, and supercilious but more or less decently intentioned person who at least wasn’t the race-mongering pyromaniac that some other Republican candidates of my lifetime have been. Then he gave his speech to the NAACP, and now I think of him as a spineless, disingenuous, supercilious, race-mongering pyromaniac who is very poorly intentioned indeed, and woe to us if this man sets foot in the White House as anything but a tourist.

Poor Michael is convinced that Romney’s use of the word “ObamaCare” is “rubbing dirt in the faces of [NAACP] members.”

Let’s ignore that Romney received applause for most of his speech and a standing ovation at the end. Let’s also, pointedly, ignore that the Obama campaign is raising money by selling ObamaCare bumperstickers and t-shirts.

Someone get Tomasky smelling salts and pry loose his fingers from his pearls …

Otherwise, I’d try slapping him silly.

I thought Romney’s showing at that meeting of black racists was pretty brave and non-racisty. I’ll be honest, if I was running for President, I would have told them to go jump in the lake, since I wasn’t going to change any minds at that meeting and was likely going to be subject to abuse. Only an idiot like Tomansky could come up with a narrative that Romney’s speech at the NAACP was evidence of his racism. What a joke.

  2. Car in says:

You’re supposed to show up and pander to the NAACP. Duh.

    Romney’s a h8ter.

Well, with testimonials like this I’m actually warming up to the guy.

Because speaking what you believe to a room full of adults is just wrong.

My opinion of Romney and the NAACP have both improved (if ever so slightly.)

My opinion of Tomasky? He’s not only not harming Romney, he’s giving him publicity, and the only one he’s harmed is the NAACP, Tomasky’s foolishness and hyperbole is a direct insult to the intelligence and dignity of those present.

  5. Squid says:

Is Tomasky carrying the sensitive new-age white man’s burden?

  6. BigBangHunter says:

    – Someday when ‘those present’s children finally come to understand how their parents were used, I wouldn’t want to be a Progressive or a Democrat.

  7. Libby says:

Well, Romney IS white, right? All whites are racists. Duh.

Most people have got to be tired of every darn thing being deemed racist. I’m so ready for the Obama era to be over.

  8. BT says:

Romney is not a democrat ergo he is a racist.

  9. Roddy Boyd says:

I view Romney with about the same regard I hold President Bush–little, very little.

He has gone up on the meter, ever so slightly.

  10. David Block says:

Well now wait a minute. He’s already silly. How about just because.
