Obama to union audience: Screw Congress. I'll implement my jobs plan administratively

But it’s a benevolent tyranny. And let’s face it: The Constitution is a fundamentally flawed document. Written by slave owners. Over 100 years ago!

Following it is tantamount to being racist. Racists.

    – He might as well go all in for communism with the unions, he doesn’t have the votes so it doesn’t matter.

  2. DarthLevin says:

I have a feeling phrases like, “Just ignore the fuckers”, “Make me”, and “Come and get them” are going to become more and more prevalent in business and society from now until Obama’s Involuntary Abdication in January 2013.

  3. sdferr says:

Trade unions are modern guilds, intent on limiting jobs with a view to increasing their own power and security. It’s an old trade-off, sacrificing freedom and innovation for the status quo ante. Obama, of course, doesn’t give any indication he understands the absurdity of touting employment growth in such a setting. But then, he’s a simpleton, so what else would we expect?

What the hell? The So’ Side is home of hipsters and old commies and bars with dollar beer nights. Also, a steel mill that is a rusty hulk that has been inoperative since the ’70s.

  6. serr8d says:

Heh.Rush just referred to the entire set of GOP nominee wannabes as ‘clowns’, in the context of a caller’s complaints about Romney, in comparison to THE Madison(s).

  7. Squid says:

TRAFFIC ALERT: President Obama is leaving the South Side/Hot Metal Br. area to return to the Airport in Moon Twp. Expect mega delays along Parkway Central and Parkway West for the next 30 minutes.

At least he’s leaving before rush hour. See — he can be taught!

JD, I think the reporter is just paraphrasing the speech as it occurs. How much of it he agrees with is anyone’s guess.

  9. ‘Rush just referred to the entire set of GOP nominee wannabes as ‘clowns’, in the context of a caller’s complaints about Romney, in comparison to THE Madison(s).’

Did he include the anti-semitic James Madison who got Washington burned down in the War of 1812?

  10. Russ says:

Oh look, he’s going to make another speech!

    Well now. That’ll solve everything.

    Raaaaacist document.

Because it is living and breathing.

  12. Joe says:

Apparently living breathing and sentinent enough to be raaaaacist.

j&l steel southside works was sent to the scrap yard about 20 years ago. where the baracky spoke today sits on the site.

-….and yes its interesting that this Iranian plot should be uncovered in such a timely manner.

That’s interesting, nr. I used to have to drive by the Steamfitter’s Union everyday on my way home. I always thought to myself, “How does one fit steam?”

  16. SteveG says:

    Very carefully.
Back in the day, when steam power ruled, you had to have people who didn’t let a crack of steam bubble the flesh off of you.
The fittings all had to be clean and tight.

That said, who says a union has to do that now…

I passed the welding test, but since nobody ‘sent me’, I didn’t get in.
Try explaining labor as a commodity to a liberal.

Enacting legislation by fiat, ignoring Congress, is one with the prior post “Aimless Obama Walks Alone”. He doesn’t like to do the retail politicking necessary to get legislation through Congress, so he takes the lazy way out and uses executive orders and administrative rulemaking.

The concepts seem to support each other.

  20. Squid says:

To the extent that Obama & Reid try again by breaking the bill into bite-sized pieces, I can get behind that. It’s totally congruent with my support for making every bill short and sweet, clear and concise, and doing away with 2,000-page omnibus monstrosities.

To the extent that Obama tries to push any of this through by diktat, well, I wish him the very best of luck with that.
