"Two L.A. agencies get $111 million in stimulus funds but have created only 55 jobs"

And you thought government and bureaucracies were poor economic stewards because they were inefficient, overly-regulatory, and moved at a glacial pace.

Racists.

Don’t blame Obama for the incompetency of local government. These city officials are protecting their highly paid salary. The longer they take to do anything, the more tax dollars they put in their fat pockets. Those who are attacking the stimulus program need to lose more of their money to be appreciative of Obama who saved us from a depression. BTW, I’m an educated republican (not a redneck elephant) who thinking about becoming an independent. Thank you LA Times for exposing these idiots.

I hope he goes for it.

I’m a longtime Republican who knows that Obama saved us from a depression with his stimulus plan, and I cannot wait for more of it.

In terms of veracity, that one ranks right up there with…

BTW, you’re the first man I’ve ever been with…
BTW, I just thought you should know that I don’t have herpes…
BTW, I’m socially liberal, but fiscally conservative…

It’s the “redneck elephant” comment that truly outs him as a Socialist poser.

    Pretty obvious, wasn’t it?

Actually, $2 million per job is about par for the course with gubbermint job creation, bureaucratic red tape and all.

    Ya want moby, check this:

“I have two college degrees, was born and raised in California and initially supported both Jerry Brown and Jimmy Carter for the high offices they attained. I have since become a conservative, Tea-Party-sympathizing Republican who only voted for the GOP ticket in 2008 because Sarah Palin was on it…”

(The fact I was 12 when Brown became governor and 14 when Carter became president should be overlooked for the purpose of this exercise — as should the fact the first vote I ever cast was for Ronald Reagan for president in the 1980 California primary.)

Reagan’s economy struggled re-vitalizing the economy in his first two years but it started up, way up. Obama and the dems have been in office for the last two years and the submarine known as the ‘USS Economy’ is heading now for deeper waters. Business are not investing/hiring, and consumers, who still have jobs/money, are saving their money in fear. It doesn’t bode well for the economy. People don’t have any degree of certainty about what is coming out of DC to start spending and investing. How low can this submarine go?

    “struggled re-vitalizing”

Throttling dangerous inflation, say rather, precisely by choking it to death. Only after stabilizing the dollar and with a better trend, was it even possible to turn to pro-growth policy.

I don’t know what’s so surprising. After all, things are expensive in L.A.

Ask happyfeet what the cupcake index is at this week. I’ll bet they get nearly 10 bucks for each of those suckers!

it’s about $4 for a tasty cupcake usually which sounds reasonable but it seems like it really adds up the more you get

If I wanted to. If I wanted to really grind it out. I could do that for about $100,000.00.

the prevailing wage is $1,000,000/job donald. we have seiu thugs just in case you’re serious

  21. happyfeet says:

that is a fierce many cupcakes Mr. newrouter

  22. Ric Locke says:

    Well, no, donald.

In order to get the job you have to pay $250K to the Union bosses’ retirement fund, so the poor fellows don’t end up selling pencils on the street.

Oh, and another quarter-mill to the precinct boss. Those vote canvassers don’t work for nothing, don’t you know, and he, too, needs security in his old age.

$200 large goes back to your nod, wink “employer” as a present to show how grateful you are.

Finally, $100K each to State politicians and National ones (one of the things you get for your $250,000 to the precinct boss is guidance on how to divide that up so’s neither you nor they runs afoul of the “contribution laws” (harrk, spit)

So yeah, you’re right, you get a hundred grand. But you have to start with the mill or you can’t buy in.

    Regards,
    Ric

I dutifully voted for Pete Wilson for governor in 1990 but within six months I was swearing I’d never vote for him again. In the 1994 primary I voted for Ron Unz, and by November I was living in Alaska.

Don’t get me started on Ted Stevens.

  24. We need to fund a blue ribbon panel to investigate this story in the L.A. Times. That ought to soak up some more of the unspent stimulus money.

  25. LTC John says:

#25 – I’d take a seat on that panel….for anything over $100K. Of course, if they don’t want nobody that nobody sent, I’m out.

  26. LTC John says:

#24 that is. Damn, this Apfelkorn is mighty tasty. The things those Hessians and Rhineland-Pflazers can do with apples!
