Andy Jumps Eigenstadt, Again [Dan Collins]

Jeremiah Wright is now the moral equivalent of David Duke?

He asks, incredulously. Yes, Andrew, he is, only with more anti-Americanism. He’s just as racist, if that’s what you mean.

However dim a view you take of some of Wright’s rhetorical excesses, and I’m not defending them, to compare a man whose church has such a long history of social work, black self-help, outreach to people with HIV, and inclusion of gay people to a rank neo-Nazi is another step too far.

Many ideologically quite unsavory organizations have provided a variety of social services in the past (such as National Socialism) and in the present (Hezbollah, apart from the Gay & HIV thing).

I saw the other day that Duke doesn’t think that Obama is that bad (or at least no worse than McCain or Hillary). Besides, I imagine that Wright and Duke could probably have a civil conversation as long as they didn’t stray too far from the topic of evil, greedy joos. Kind of heartwarming the way the great O brings people together!

  2. TmjUtah says:

I hear you used to could get a nice cup of warm soup and some bread in South Chicago, courtesy of Mr. Capone.

    Great days, those.

How does somebody like Sullivan get paid to write? Pfft.

  3. kelly says:

Smacked gob clean-up on aisle four!

  4. cranky-d says:

Ragging on The Excitable One is like shooting fish in a barrel these days. He makes it so gosh-darn easy. And to think he was the first blogger I read, lo those many years ago.

  5. Karl says:

What Wright has is a history of founding a church that believes that it is “not theologically wrong” to see the white man as the devil and the white church as the anti-Christ.

It’s an opportunity to note that Sullivan (and others) repeating the BO talking point about how promoting “black self-help” should be viewed as conservative never acknowledge that: (a) NoI also promotes “black self-help,” and is obviously racist; and (b) as actually meant the phrase is an oxymoron. Viewing oneself in terms of race is not self-help, any more than viewing oneself in terms of a “b;ack community” or “black experience” is self-help.

I would attribute this to Sullivan’s Obama man-love, but it is equally due (imho) to Sullivan having become one of the laziest bloggers in the ‘sphere, and almost certainly the laziest of the high-traffic bloggers.

  6. Martin says:

I see that the good Reverand Wright has decided to expand his insults beyond Jews and white people generally, and add Italians into the mix in a very specific way with the characterization, “garlic noses.” I guess it could have been worse. And while Sullivan will reluctantly acknowledge an occasional excess by the good Reverand, this preacher is the guy that Sullivan will largely defend to the death.

  7. Dan Collins says:

    Martin, thanks.
We were on this a couple weeks ago.

  8. BJTexs says:

    Yeesh!

If Andy were any more of a douchnozzle he’d be pressed into making food supplies for Oktoberfest.

Here’s a clue, Andy: Anti Semitic and racist but about different races = BIGOTS!!! (qed)

  9. Cowboy says:

However dim a view you take of some of Wright’s rhetorical excesses …oh, so now Wright was just exagerrating? It’s not what he meant, but how he said it that should cause concern?

and I’m not defending them …but of course you are, you big silly.

  10. Techie says:

Andrew may be the true “racist” here.

Silly black man didn’t mean any of it. Let the educated white person tell him and us what he REALLY meant to say.

Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s rain, Andy.

  11. McGehee says:

TmjUtah has mentioned Al Capone. I believe I’ve read the Ku Klux Klan had some similar activities.

    Hell, so did Jesse James.

  12. McGehee says:

Related. I just hope WordPress lets it post.

  13. SarahW says:

    “Garlic noses”?!

Not only is he a racist twirpy thing, his insults are twirpy squared.

I will make some up for him.

    McGehee – a “haggis pants”
    SarahW – “a long-waisted mactrashy”
DanC – “very pale” and “popey”
    BJTexas – “cactus paws”
    TmjUtah – “clean-livered”
    Karl – “writey devil”
    Cranky-D “lawn maintainer”
    hFeets – “driving moc stinker”

  14. Pablo says:

McGehee, those nice Hamas boys come ro mind also.

  15. BJTexs_TWP_MOUSE says:

    SarahW:

    Cactus paws???

And where’s JD’s (TWP) insulting moniker?

  16. SarahW says:

    JD = “turtle boiler”

  17. MlR says:

Substitute ZOG for the Great White Wing Conspiracy, and vice versa, and Wright and David Duke would understand each other real well.

Although I’m undecided on whether Wright really believes his nonsense, on account of the fact that he he was willing to be a pampered guest of the Clinton White House.

What’s better? A hateful bigot? Or a fraud who pretends to be one in order to lead a flock?

    Probably a combination fo both.

  18. SarahW says:

    JeffG – “onion guns”

  19. SarahW says:

No, wait. Onions are probably way too small at this point to be descriptive, and ham guns is probably not an accurate reflection of diet. I’m sure someone else could do better.

  20. BJTexs_TWP_MOUSE says:

    Cantalope Guns

  21. Jim in KC says:

You know, the Dropkick Murphy’s has a guy named “Spicey McHaggis.” Maybe McGehee could join up with ’em…

  22. BJTexs_TWP_MOUSE says:

Jim: That’s right and I loooove the Murph’s. They give the best interviews of any band I’ve ever seen.

I’m still trying to figure out “Cactus Paws.”

  23. cranky-d says:

    Lawn Maintainer?! Why, I never!

    LAWNIST!!!!

  24. cranky-d says:

Hey, I tried to change my name to “cranky-d_TWP_lawn_maintainer” but it didn’t take.

    I blame George Bush.

  25. JD says:

Turtle boiler ? I used to call one of my ex-‘s a rabbit boiler.

  26. Ric Locke says:

    You left me out, SarahW.

“Gap-toothed redneck” fits perfectly and is literally true. I don’t even need the TWP.

    Regards,
    Ric

Viewing oneself in terms of race is not self-help, any more than viewing oneself in terms of a “b;ack community” or “black experience” is self-help.

There are no rules of viewing oneself outside the self-defined, you fanny pack full of preaches.

  28. JD TWP says:

TWP is going to stick, isn’t it ? Thanks, Enoch.

  29. Jim in KC says:

So, thor, did that have an extra r or an extra r? I’m puzzled as to whether I should read it as “…fanny pack full of peaches” or “…fanny pack full of preachers?”

  30. Jim in KC says:

A missing r, I should have said, and without the runaway italix.

  31. McGehee says:

    McGehee – a “haggis pants”

LOL! Everybody knows Scots don’t wear pants!

  32. Enoch_Root - TWP also says:

JD – yes, it might. it occurs that it is Poor White Trash backwards… ahhhhhh, maybe he was speaking in code! TWP = PWT – his suit is “made of mirrors”

  33. RH Potfry says:

I love Sullivan’s use of the word “excesses.” Like he had an extra helping of the Peach Cobbler.

  34. Enoch_Root - TWP also says:

RH – if yer gonna do it… do it big and boisterous like! It’s so tranny hot!

  35. steve says:

See, this is why I love white dudes.

The idea that Wright is as racist as David Duke is absurd on it’s face – but we white dudes need to believe this. I mean, they’re taking our jobs, our women and soiling our neighborhoods – at least we get to whine (hey – that’s wht THEY’ve been doing!). I mean, what do we have left when you really think about it?

Poor, poor white dudes. I feel your pain (literally).

  36. Dan Collins says:

The idea that Wright is as racist as David Duke is absurd on it’s face

I do so love dopes. They’re so certain that their certainty is secured by their certainty.

  37. TmjUtah says:

    Clean Livered?

Well, maybe sanitized livered. In the bad old days I did process enough alcohol through it to rate a grain subsidy. Hell, probably my own farm bill, truth be told.

  38. Curly says:

I do so love dopes. They’re so certain that their certainty is secured by their certainty.

    Stooges, too. Soi’tinly!

  39. MlR says:

    Dude,

You just illustrated exactly how the Democrats became the party of race/ethnicity/gender obsessed bigots.

It doesn’t take a ‘white guy’ to identity a race-based, conspiratorial church as the flip side of David Duke.

  40. Pablo says:

steve, if you could bring a little more game to your situation, perhaps the brothers wouldn’t be taking all of your shit. So, while you’re figuring out how to step up your game and broadbrushing an entire group of people based on the color of their skin, we’ll be over here discussing one hateful man, you fucking racist.

  41. mcgruder says:

Andrew has become one of the main casualties of the rhetorical excesses of this age. At one point, he was a pretty serious and engaged iconoclast–no real GOP’er, but way right of the TNR set. I liked that.

Now, per him, we are one standard deviation removed from the gulag archipelago. “Sure, Andy, It’d all be better and happier if Kerry was POTUS.” A landscape of lollipop mountains and licorice streams.

He’s become as sadly predictable as Ariana, Krugman and Coulter.

But I have to take one aspect of his side in this–David Duke.
Wright is pure filth, anti-American and a Jew hater; frankly, He’s better off dead. And this church, Im reckoning it costs OB his election.

but David Duke is a neo-nazi and there IS a difference. Wright talks crap about Jews and America; but in the end, I bet its just that, talk.

If Duke had his way, he’d DO something about Jews and other undesireables.

Thats a real difference to me on the villainy scale.

  42. Lisa says:

Does Wright actually say something about Jews or about Israel? Just wondering. Is he like “fucking Jew bankers” and all that crazy shit or is he like “Israel can suck my ass”.

The clips I have seen show him ranting about Israel and how their policies are suck ass. He is a dumbass and hasn’t a clue about the Middle East. But I haven’t heard all of his rants. Does he go all “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” on you?

If he specifically trashes Jews as a people, then he is VERY similar to David Duke. If he trashes the state of Israel, then he is just another nattering nabob, but no David Duke.

  43. Dan Collins says:

I dunno, Lisa. It seems that he permitted to be printed in the church bulletin some Palestinian shit about how Israel and South Africa had collaborated on developing a bomb that would take out only blacks and Arabs. That there’s pretty wack.

  44. B Moe says:

Does he go all “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” on you?

I got no idea, frankly his hating on white people is enough for me. I got enough problems without some crazy ass ex-Marine and 20,000 of his followers blaming me for all the shit that’s wrong in their world, know what I’m saying? I expect David Duke elicits the same response out of black folk, too.

  45. Lisa says:

LOL Dan Collins, that is pretty wack. I am thinking if someone had developed a bomb of that nature, I would have been sorely tempted to detonate a couple of them at the Source Awards (now I can say that and look like a snotty bitch who does not appreciate the beauty of rap music, but if you said that, you would look like Timothy McVeigh – sigh….life is so unfair).

  46. JD TWP says:

The idea that Wright is as racist as David Duke is absurd on it’s face

    Explain. Do not assert, explain.

Lisa – He let Hamas run an advertisement/editorial on the pages of their Sunday bulletin. That just screams “I loves me some Jooooos”.

  47. JD TWP says:

I mean, they’re taking our jobs, our women and soiling our neighborhoods – at least we get to whine (hey – that’s wht THEY’ve been doing!). I mean, what do we have left when you really think about it?

Othen than steve, has anyone else around here even thought that, much less said it.

  48. Big Bang Hunter (pumping you up) says:

    – So does this mean the nutroots will now be obliged to back the Wright and Dukes of the world, just as long as they’re anti-Israeli.

    – Hmmmm…Smells like another Tibetan like conflict. The moonbats are going to need to ratchet up the analyst visits another notch.

    – Only thing that seems out of place are those Jeremiah and David names they’re sporting. They need something more hood, like Run DM-Hez, and Em’n’J-hod or something.

  49. Florida says:

Even for Andy, this is remarkable. This has to make his list of Top 10 most Gobsmacking things St. Andy of the Perpetually Outraged has ever typed.
