Having read the Podhoretz piece on the Borat film, soon to be released, I made the mistake of expressing my enthusiasm to see the movie, and a commenter set me right: Borat’s been around for several years. Now every American-Idol watching idiot in sticksville is going to have a Borat t-shirt and what was once funny will be lame. Posted by Pfc. Leftard | permalink on 10/25 at 07:37 PM
If instead of a moderate Democratic upstart angling to become a Congressional power player, Harold Ford Jr were a machine screw
Ford Jr: “Party? Sure, I’m in. Just make sure you load up the guest list with plenty of polished, phat lug nuts who enjoy a little hot tub play. Otherwise, I may as well just save some time and have my service send over some coke and a couple of hex nuts for half an hour.”
All Our Gory Oxen Are Belong to Borat [Dan Collins]
Are you looking forward to seeing the Borat movie? I am, especially after reading Podhoretz’s column. Here’s the part that’s available for public viewing at TWS: The ‘Borat’ Show The man who would be Kazakhstan’s man of the moment. by John Podhoretz 10/21/2006 12:06:00 AM, Volume 012, Issue 07 Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan Directed by Larry Charles A cheap-looking and extremely strange
The Triumph of Evil Update 2 [ahem]
An absolute bombshell from EUReferendum: There has been a French parliamentary inquiry, which – predictably – cleared its own government. But now a former senior Rwandan diplomat has told a tribunal in his own country that France played an active role in Rwanda’s 1994 genocide. Rwanda, where the victims begged the UN peacekeepers to kill them before the Hutus got to them. Oh, wait, this was the UN. This was

I like articles like this because I’m a sadist, probably. Or a masochist, maybe. Or maybe I just vacillate between these two subject positions so quickly that it looks like one of those spinning cartoon fights with the stars and exclamation points coming out of it, if you’d add a few hearts here and there. Anyway, there’s an article here on the crappiest digital cameras evah! You can use this
Al-Quds Day vs Halloween [Dan Collins]
Captain Ed points us to this story about the Al-Quds day celebration thrown by Iran and its President Ahmablahblahblah: The celebrations included proclamations by the country’s leaders and activities for university students and artists. Isfahan University’s Mechanical Energy College took first place in a Quds Day competition for its design of a pilotless plane that can be used for “suicide attacks.” The director of the Iranian Broadcasting Organization of Music

In the past year, Google also faced criticism on Capitol Hill for its business arrangements with China that allow Internet censorship, and for not shutting off access to pornography. Google executives argued that much of the criticism was unfair, but sometimes the company had to struggle to get its message heard in Washington. Emphasis, mine. It’s only and ever about the money. Actually, I would amend that. The capitol is
Silly Self-Sullying [Dan Collins]
While Glenn Greenwald completes the dexterization of KP, Sully comes closer to completing his own Greenwaldization: Sullivan Self-Parody Alert [Ramesh Ponnuru] In recent days, Andrew Sullivan has accused another commentator of being “adept at putting words in other people’s mouths”; advised a third commentator to “leave aside personal insults”; and quoted a reviewer calling Sullivan a ”card-carrying intellectual.” I think we’ve gotten the better of the trade. If you’d like
What Would Bill Do? [ahem]
“Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition.” – Barack Obama, Knox College Commencement address, 2005 It must suck to be Hillary Clinton these days. Victory is in your grasp, so close you can almost taste it: you can be the first woman President in history. After years of clawing your way to the top of the political dung heap, shaking sweaty hands, eating
Harold Ford, Jr Has Issues [Dan Collins]
Maybe he’s even talked about a few. I don’t know. But how do you mishandle a campaign so badly that this becomes a problem for you? In the Tennessean today, questions about Ford’s presence at a Playboy party at the 2005 Superbowl continue to linger, in part because the Ford campaign has done a truly miserable job of dealing with the issue. Can someone fill me in? If you were
