Mexican Woman Dies in Desert [Dan Collins]

Family blames neither Bush nor Global Warming, but craven coyote.

A moving story in the NYT about a family’s loss and dignity, despite reporter’s attempt to turn it into one about Bush’s inhumane immigration policy.

Also, NYT pretends to give background on MoveOn.org.

Speaking of which, Larry Summers disinvited from UC Davis gathering. Tolerance. Diversity of opinion. Normal Finkelstein. What? was he charging $55k to speak about poverty?

    Thanks Dan.

MoveOn has shown a willingness to depart from party orthodoxy on campaigns. Last year, despite party leaders’ entreaties, it took an active role in aiding the antiwar candidacy of Ned Lamont, who was trying to unseat Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut, then a Democrat supporting the war effort.

Someone else showed a willingness to depart from party orthodoxy. He’s got one hand in their pocket, and the other one is giving the peace sign, but you wouldn’t know it from this article.

oh – that second par is a quote from the NYT’s MoveOn article. That didn’t come out right.

I wonder if a lot of the reasons illegal immigrants try to cross the desert isn’t just unfamiliarity with the environment, but an unreasonable expectation that once they are in the US everything will be “all right.” Yet it turns out the desert on our side of the border is just as deadly as it is on the Mexico side — who knew? The reporter at the NYT seems to share this misconception, as is evinced by the cranky undertone of “why couldn’t we save these people?” that these articles always have.

stop them coming here. Take care of your poorest on your side. You won’t do it because it’s convenient for the arrangements you have made.

  7. Dan Collins says:

Which is why we raised a holy stink over the attempt to give de facto amnesty to all of them, and have been insisting they build the fence Congress funded and beef up border security: because we are tools of industry. Meanwhile, Democrats have been avidly trying to confer voting rights on them, citizens or not.

    Re: Larry Summers:

The regents represent the leadership and public face of the University of California,” the petition states. “Inviting a keynote speaker who has come to symbolize gender and racial prejudice in academia conveys the wrong message to the university community and to the people of California.

Gaia bless us and save us, every one.

Note to Mexico – when your people are paying to cross a desert in the hope of a better life at the end of the trip, then you should spend more time figuring out why your greatest resource – your people – are fleeing than criticizing the destination country for their policies on immigration.

    Just sayin’.

Can’t we just take over Mexico? They have beaches; they have oil; they have really, really good Mexican restaurants. Sure, we’d be saddled with a lot of poor, uneducated, low-skill workers, but we’re going to wind up taking care of them one way or the other — why not just take ’em all in one swell foop?

Squid – At dinner parties, I have heard several people reference the US annexing Mexico, much like Puerto Rico. If the Leftists are going to accuse us of being imperialists, at least we could do something to justify it. Plus, making Mexico subject to our laws and systems would be beneficial to their citizenry. The free market would relish the opportunities available, though our cheap trips to Cancun would likely increase in cost.

Squid – I also think that would drastically cut back on the stripper fucking donkeys in Juarez and Tiajuana. Just sayin’
