   Bur…but…but… he’s lost his objectivity by imbedding with the killbots troops and actually seeing for himself what’s happening. Real journalists protect their journalistic bona fides by staying at four star hotels and paying stringers to get them stories, insuring that any relationships with the people doing the actual work won’t warp our sense of narrative reality.

   Hey, they still get to wear the vests. And let me tell you, slim, those apple martinis taste great with kevlar and a grinning Iraqi terrorist local sheriff. This way we can protect the narrative the truth of the story.

   How dare these Nancy-boy Rangers compare their pitiful exploits ducking live fire and IEDS with the TRUE Heroism displayed by Michael Righti in Asserting his right to defy Circuit City’s Bag Check Policy and talk smack to a cop… ? Righti is sacrificing himself for OUR rights! If he has to open his bag.. the terrorists have won..

   (Ok.. sorry.. the above is just bitter sarcasm that should have been left on the Pub.. where I got my ass handed to me by much sharper minds than mine… As for the Rangers, Airborne! guys.. Drive on..Good thing they have Humvees to drive around in though.. I’d hate for them to actually have to carry around those freakin big, brass balls..)

   If you have a Silver Star, then you really have shown the ability not to be fearless, but to contain it and act decisively. I think that is all the harder and more more worthy of praise.

   Allah willing and the wadi don’t rise, I’ll not have to get into such situations too many times.

   I was upset when Katy Couric said the military was only showing her the “good” things in Iraq, but — you know — maybe Katy Couric is the catalyst that turns US opinion around about Iraq. (See the type of report she is doing below — hey, first read the next two paragraphs!)

   In 1968, Couric’s predecessor Walter Cronkite is credited with turning a win into a loss, when he broadcast to mainstream America that Vietnam was a quagmire. Cronkite went out on a limb, bucked media conventional wisdom, and betrayed a Democratic Administration (along with our soldiers in the field). Cronkite helped the communist leaders achieve victory, even while the US military was routing and destroying VC and NVA assault forces that had massed for the Tet Offensive. His reports caused despair among the public, who had little information about the real battlefield. Cronkite made it acceptable to question Vietnam, to accept failure, and ultimately to abandon the Vietnamese, loatians, and Cambodians. He is the icon that LMSM pundits are emulating when reportingt on the Iraq War.

   Couric’s reporting has an opposite effect – she is bringing into homes across the US the knowledge that Coalition Forces are achieving success. It’s ironic that TV’s most famous lightweight anchor is making it acceptable to think positively about Iraq, our progress there, our prospects there, and the consequences of abandoning the Iraqi people.

   “We hear so much about things going bad, but real progress has been made there in terms of security and stability,” Couric said Tuesday. “I mean, obviously, infrastructure problems abound, but Sunnis and U.S. forces are working together. They banded together because they had a common enemy: al Qaeda.”

   Couric traveled to the city of Fallujah in Anbar province, which U.S. forces entered in April 2003 and again in November 2004. That is the same city where, in house-to-house fighting, American forces uncovered nearly two-dozen torture chambers.

   “We found numerous houses, also, where people were just chained to a wall for extended periods of time,” U.S. military intelligence officer Major Jim West said back on Nov. 22, 2004.

   “The face of Satan was here in Fallujah, and I’m absolutely convinced that that was true,” said Marine Lt. Col. Gareth Brandl.

   It is also the city where four American military contractors were set on fire, mutilated and hanged from a bridge by insurgents.

   Now Fallujah is “considered a real role model of something working right in Iraq,” Couric said.

   In case we need some more middle east related outrage, check out Dennis Kucinich in Syria praising Assad for taking in refugees and holding substantial talks on “strength through peace.” He Who Has No Strings also said he wouldn’t be going to Iraq because, “I feel the United States is engaging in an illegal occupation … I don’t want to bless that occupation with my presence,”

   Didn’t Michael Moorer document in Farenheit 9/11 that there WERE Unicorns (as well as butterflies and rainbows, candy flowers and chocolate rivers much like Willie Wonka’s factory) in Iraq until the evil President George McChimpyHitlerburton carpet bombed the place and turned it into a desert, just because he could?

    Naw, Veeshir’s right. These guys are just pants pissers and bedwetters. Everybody knows AQ is just a Rovebot / Bushco Fabrication. They are imagining the insurgency – which just goes to show you the terrible toll this Damn Bush War has taken on our poor troops in the broken military. They’re so deluded, they actually think there’s fighting going on. Tons of them are dying, and I bet it’s from psychosomatic illnesses alone. I know real Army Rangers – well, I saw Saving Private Ryan once anyhow – well, parts of it… okay, fine, I saw the trailer – but that’s not really relevant, and these guys aren’t like that at all, their uniforms are totally different and everything, so I know this story is completely propaganda bullshit. Want some pie, conservatirds?*

    *Yes, this is a spoof. Nobody is that stupid, except, apparently, roughly 42% of the majority party.
