To Eric Lindner, for the case of Bray Vineyards wines. Bray Vineyards: the official vineyard of protein wisdom’s almost certainly failing liver.
And soon, I suspect, to be the official vineyard of a certain thieving armor-plated grub eater who still owes me $65 for a bottle of Lagavulin.
Thanks, too, to Peg Schorfheide for volume 2 of The Chaplin Collection on DVD. Peg notes the importance of exposing my son to such classics, which I certainly will. Between the Chaplin set, Harold Lloyd, the Marx Brothers sets, and Fatty Arbuckle, all I’m missing now in the comedy classics pantheon is Buster Keaton.
I’d consider asking for the Keaton collection for Father’s Day, but I’ve been dropping hints about an Easton baseball bat, instead. So maybe, I dunno, Arbor Day?
And finally, thanks to Wes Thompson for the 3 CDs: Son Volt’s Trace, Thus Always to Tyrants (Scott Miller and the Commonwealth), and The Jayhawks’ Rainy Day Music. Songs to grill by!
See? That’s why you should never quit blogging: nice fringe benefits.
Our education, their politics
Jeff, soon’s I get me next lavish three-figger paycheck, I’ll be hitting the tip jar, promise…
me too
Jeff, don’t forget the 3 Stooges. Really. Satchel will choose that over any of the others you listed. Total mayhem.
Oh yeah. Stooges, Laurel and Hardy. I need those too.
Have most of the Our Gang stuff.
It was only a matter of time before the dillo got into single malts. You should’ve kept more tequila around.
mmmmm…..Don Julio….ARGRGRGRGRGRGRGRG
Hm. I would’ve pegged you qas a Louisville Slugger guy. Shows how much I know.
I read some reviews of the LS bat that I was interested in and several mentioned that, while it was great while it lasted, it didn’t last very long. Also looked at a couple Rawlings bats, but I hear they dent easily.
While you’re waiting for Buster Keaton dvds, regale the young fellow with these. And hey! Could it be…? Aw, dammit, disappointed again!
SI, you owe me 2 minutes and 19 seconds that I’ll never get back.
Huh? click, clickety… Ah! Yep, I feel ya, dicentra.
You’re welcome, Jeff. Happy belated birthday.
Jeff, always a pleasure to keep your liver well exercised. Enjoy the vino!
turing: red25 How DOES it know?!
Jeff,
Happy to see you’ll put Chaplin to good use. Laughing together as a family is a sweet thing.
As for the Stooges, with 8 of us at risk of having eyes poked out, or being knocked cold by a broom handle, that was the one show we were FORBIDDEN to watch!
TW: Amazing! I’ll be gone25 to TN next week… how will I ever get caught up w/ PW??
