NB

Thanks again to all of you who contributed during my recent fundraising drive.  I’ve been trying to figure out a way to get my emails ported over to the Powerbook I’m using so that I can respond to each of you personally, but it looks like I’m going to have to gather email addresses from within PayPal itself (which, unfortunately, doesn’t create “mailto:” links—meaning I have to cut and paste them into my email program).

Do know that I am very appreciative, and that you’ll be hearing from me soon.  Unless, that is, you contributed through Amazon, which doesn’t provide names.  In which case, please accept my warmest gratitude.

Thanks, too, to P Bastardo for the John Prine Live On Soundstage 1980—which, like the gift of Son Volt’s Trace before it has forced me to go out and pick up all sorts of other items by the artists.

You never came over and picked up the heavy-as-shit 17-inch CRT sitting in the back of my closet.

It doesn’t flicker if you set your resolution at 800 x 600.

What about all these floppies?  You want ‘em?  Most no longer format but you can keep a few Word files on ‘em.

I have other donations (a couple of 56K modems, a 20-gig drive and a 32-meg memory stick) but you gotta come by and pick up the bounty.

Old Dell user’s manuals, you need any?

  2. P Bastardo says:

De nada, señor. Continúe el buen trabajo.

What e-mail platform you using?  I may be able to help.

My old stuff went to Outlook Express, but it was then ported through my host to a special site account set up on Google.  The mailbox I had set up to collect paypal notices I can’t seem to find anymore.

Glad to hear you liked Trace.  Unfortunately, in my opinion, none of Son Volt’s other CDs have lived up to the first one.  I’m not saying the subsequent releases weren’t good, I just think there was something special about Trace.

  6. Wes says:

By the way, Jeff, what did you think of the Scott Miller CD?

    Hmmm…

Paris Hilton Stupid Act Not Fooling L.A. Prosecutors

Who says it’s an ACT? Sheesh.

Time to file the serial numbers off the old “Martha” template, maybe?

  8. McGehee says:

I dunno, Mojo. The Martha stuff worked because we all assume Martha can read and write.

    But Paris Hilton…?

  9. Jeff Goldstein says:

Liked what I’ve heard of it so far, Wes.  I listened to the first couple songs of a bunch of new CDs during a half hour car ride the other day.

Trace really stuck out—as did some of the Uncle Tupelo stuff.  I particularly like the acoustic album they did.

    JG,

This reminds me to ask whether you received my e-mail address, or should I resend it?

  11. RC says:

    Jeff,

If you need help with either Entourage (Microsoft’s version of Outlook for the Mac) or with the Mac native email program let me know and I’ll see what we can do.

  12. Jeff Goldstein says:

    Thanks, RC.

    Karl —

No, I never got it.  If you could resend it, please do.

Shoot! I DEMAND an EMAIL. Or pie. With whipped cream.

John Prine is one of my absolute heroes, if you ever get a chance to see him live, don’t miss it.

    Jeff,

I’ve resent through the site and through my e-mail account.

    “There’s flies in the kitchen

I can hear them there buzzin’

And I ain’t done nothing since I woke up today

But how the hell can a person

Go on to work in the morning

To come home in the evening

    And have nothing to say”

Something about that song makes me want to stand on my porch in boxers and a wifebeater while scratching my ass with one hand and drinking a Pabst with the other

Sam Stone, came home, to a wife and family…

Years ago, I saw him live for either Austin City Limits or the other, similar, television show done there by PBS.

Not really sure why, but that has always been one of my favorite lines.

He’s brilliant is why…. and like a lot of truly gifted people, sometimes the only logical response to them is …. wtf?

Truth and wisdom can settle in from their words later… or not at all. wtf?

The window an oracle sees through is cloudy sometimes. I wish I had even a window… but I’m afraid it would open only to my soul
