Idiot Abroad [Dan Collins]

Guardian US correspondent decries blog speculation on motives of SLC mall murderer.

Occam’s razor is not a thin-profile cell phone.

From David Thompson, another excellent piece that chronicles the paper’s cozy relations with Islamofascists: al-Guardian & the Brotherhood (Janis Joplin’s still dead)

A taste, regarding comments editor Seumas Milne (a Scott Burgess favorite):

It isn’t clear why Milne continues to give a platform to the Brotherhood and its affiliates. Like many other refugees from the Communist Party of Great Britain, Milne may be vicariously titillated by the revolutionary intent of Islamic fundamentalism. Though one has to wonder how contempt for pluralism and free speech along with the theological mandate of arbitrary murder have become such obvious causes for a “progressive” newspaper. Granted, the Brotherhood shares with much of the left a hatred of U.S. ‘imperialism’, which is, allegedly, the cause of all evil in the world. Though, again, I’m not sure how these anti-imperial credentials sit with the slogan that still adorns the Brotherhood’s literature and website: “Islam will dominate the world.”

I probably mentioned this before, but it is in breach of the Geneva Conventions to point the Guardian at decent Britons.

It just encourages cretins like alf to believe in his own assertion that there are no British (or Canadian) troops fighting in Afghanistan.

’al’ means it’s bad. Like al maliki, worse than regular maliki.

  3. Dan Collins says:

    Honey, the milk is al.

  4. Al Dangerfield says:

I tell ya, I get no respect.

My mother had morning sickness after I was born.

    No respect.

  5. Dan Collins says:

Seems that there was some bad phie in one of the threads last night.

  6. AJB says:

Bosnians are typically very secular and the FBI has already stated that they don’t believe this was an act of terror. Complaints that the media is neglecting to mention the fact that he was Muslim can be debunked with a simple Google News search.

Also, what’s with the tendency of some on the right to use this incident to discredit Clinton’s peacekeeping operations in the Balkans?

    For example, Ms. Schlussel:

Yes, this is what we get for helping the Bosnian Muslims against the Serbs–terror, murder, and mayhem in U.S. malls. The Muslims blame us anyway.

    Thanks, Bill Clinton.

Sheesh, talk about Blaming America First.

  7. Dan Collins says:

    AJB–

The guy’s father thinks that he was radicalized by someone here.  Ms. Schlussel’s comment is dumb, though, and I say that even though she’s got a great rack, judging by the picture on her site.  If it was meant to be ironic, I didn’t get it.  Maybe I’d have to read her more.

  8. Dan Collins says:

But still, comparatively speaking, it’s nothing compared to what’s published in the Graun, which is supposed (by me) to be this post’s topic.

  9. furriskey says:

Unfair. Do I bring up the National Enquirer?

Does one really have to wonder of the sympathies of a leftist British paper as we countenance how “contempt for pluralism and free speech” have become such obvious causes for the US Congress? If we are unable to sustain a confrontation with radical Islamists actively fomenting arbitrary murder, it truly is hard to imagine an effective response to mere pamphleteers and demagogues.

  11. Dumb—or, at the very least, overheated—is par for the course with Schlussel.  But that comment isn’t entirely it.  Various jihadis and wannabe-jihadis have cited US intervention in the Balkans as reasons why They Hate Us, despite the fact that Muslims were the prime beneficiaries.

But this only shows that you can’t buy love with blood.  Which is why I opposed our involvement there in the first place.

Meaning, they’re mad at us for depriving them of yet another excuse to consider themselves victims.

    Can’t say I’m surprised.

  13. Jeremy says:

Don’t kid yourself. They blame us for stopping the arms flows into the region, thus preventing them from escalating the war into Afghanistan 2: The Revenge.

For Islam, there is always blame to be placed on the feet of the US.

We have had this guy open fire in a mall, the guy who opened fire on the Jewish center up in the northwest, the Duke SUV rampage dude, the DC snipers, and probably some more I am forgetting, all motivated by Islamic extremism and hatred, kill or injure dozens of innocent Americans on our own soil, and I don’t know of one case of serious retaliation.

You would think the press might notice this and praise the American populace for their tolerance and restraint.

  15. probably some more I am forgetting

The Nashville cabbie who ran down one of hi fares “after an argument over religion”.

  16. emmadine says:

and yet, people keep saying that there have been no terrorist attacks since 911.
