When the pop tarts first came up, I paid about as much attention to Christina Aguilera as I did to the rest of them, which is to say zero. I’ve been listening to her more over the last year or so, cuz it turns out that she’s the only one who has any talent. Who knew? Check out this video, courtesy of TUA over at Sondra’s. It’s produced and co-written by Linda Perry, and it’s absolutely mesmerizing. I’m a sucker for Andrew Sisters-style boogie-woogie, and it’s even better when it ROCKS.

I’ve noticed that we rarely hear a word about Christina’s non-music related life. That’s a good thing. And yeah, the girl can flat out sing.
I didn’t realize Linda Perry wrote “Beautiful”. Another very talented chick, if not the looker Christina is.
By “playing” are you referring to the music or the characters in the video?
She was always better looking that the other muppets that came out at the same time, until she went for the “I don’t care what I look like” fat, goth chick demographic. Now she is back to being hot.
Having been in the Army, I must say that this an example of the only way that I like to see the Navy white uniform being worn.

I never heard any of these songs until today. Though I’d certainly noticed and admired Christina’s form, I never thought often nor very highly of this young woman until today.
I’d tossed her into the Pop-Tart category. She does not belong there.
Wiki says she intends to tour blues and jazz clubs after her “Back to Basics Tour”. I wonder if that will really happen. I certainly hope so because my Madison Square Garden days are over. I’ll shell out some bucks for an intimate venue. I know she’s got the pipes and I believe she’s got the character for blues and jazz. I’m gonna see if I can find some of her non-Pop stuff right now.

Personally, I don’t listen to her very often, more of a Godsmack kinda guy myself, but Christina is obviously a very talented singer, and has managed to remain sane, though I have no idea what her politics are, nor care. It’s great to have someone avoid the Paris Hilton/Britney Spears path to fame, and end up here for her talent.
Oh, and in case no one noticed, she is a very attractive woman.

Upon further reflection, I think it is the narcissism. If there is a subject posted that I don’t have any interest in I rarely read it and almost never post a comment on it. Yet our little troll, ss (great nom be blog there) comes in to post that he doesn’t think much of Miss Aguilera, her behaivior, morals, etc.
Why would he care to read a post about her or comment on it when he doesn’t like her? Narcissism. Attention junkie. He needs that atention, he needs to be noticed, he needs to shout to an unfeeling universe, “See! I’m here! I dissed a pop singer who’ll never hear of me on a blog she probably never reads, the post on her likely disapeering into archives in a day! And people commented back! I’m somebody!”

I always recognized her talent and was very dissapointed when she seemed to be dropping into an oh so fashionable “slut” phase. My opinion of her is quickly changing thanks to some of what I’ve seen and read here. So many female singers have fallen into that hole in the past several years that I just expect it anymore. I hope she has great success and holds the line in her life. She has so much going for her that it would be a waste for her to turn into another cookie cutter, spoiled whore.

I believe the ‘dirty’ thing was just an artistic phase (although, granted, a bad one). The sad thing is, however, that all the other startlets seemed to think they had to go-all-the-way! in order to compete.
