If instead of an uber partisan anti-war hack bent on bringing down Buscho by any means possible, Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) were one of those giant tortoises of the Galapagos Islands

Levin:  “Many Republicans keep insisting that I’m some so-called ‘giant tortoise’ of the ‘Galapagos Islands.’ But were they at all interested in the facts, they’d be brave enough to note that my 2004 Report, which I revealingly titled I am SO not a giant tortoise of the Galapagos Islands, completely lays waste to their claims.

“—My enormous shell and long tortoise neck nothwithstanding.”*

I sense an Important Internet Action Alert coming.

  2. Dan Collins says:

Also, were you ever a Giant Tortoise of the Galapagos, Senator?

  3. nikkolai says:

Are we talking Galapagos or Gulags here?

    Sincerely,

    Lil’ Dick Durbin

  4. Dana says:

    Needed a pic.

  5. Jeff Goldstein says:

Howsabout you just give the posts star ratings, Dana?

Or thumbs up / thumbs down?

  6. MCPO Airdale says:

I thought Levin was “Urtle the Turtle”!?!

  7. Dan Collins says:

    More salt.

  8. Major John says:

Levin is what he is – I find the stupidity of the WaPo, and the breathless following (everyone from Chris Matthews to Shep Smith) of the “story” to be the appalling part.

Bet we don’t see one “retraction”, just minor, buried “corrections”…

  9. George S. "Butch" Patton (Mrs.) says:

    As sent to the WAPO…

Gee,the professional journalists of the Washington Post misrepresented a two-year-old press release as a new report and a Democratic Senator as an unnamed Administration official. Quite the little faux pas for professional journalists with their layers of fact checkers and editors. And where was Bad Billy Rankin when we needed him? Youd think a veteran intelligence profession and expert journalistic security expert would have picked up on this… If there was the slightest shred of honesty and professional integrity at the Washington Post…

  10. Carl Levin says:

So how many lies am I going to have to tell you all before you believe Bush is a liar?

  11. MarkD says:

Time to bring dueling back to Washington, DC.  These are all “honorable” men in the worlds greatest deliberative body, so:

After one week, do you think they’d have a quorum?  If not, would you mind?

  12. The Lost Dog says:

Where can I find a constituency like Levin’s?

60% deaf, dumb, and blind, and 40% asshat media?

  13. Dan Collins says:

You have to cultivate it, TLD.

  14. JohnAnnArbor says:

I’m old enough to remember when Carl Levin was a respected Senator from Michigan.

  15. alphie says:

Are you saying Levin shouldn’t be investigating how our pre-war intelligence turned out to be soooooo wrong, John?

Seems like a good thing to me.

  16. Pablo says:

Are you saying that you’re a retarded transsexual communist, alphie?

  17. happyfeet says:

“I don’t know whether it was intentional or whether it was a good-faith judgment,” Gimble said. “That’s not my position, and I wouldn’t have a thought on that. All I can tell you is, at the end of the day, when those things went forward, there was two sets of facts out there; one of them got passed over, and it would happen to be the one that’s in the very community that we look to to have this kind of information.”

Ironic that Gimble could just as forcefully be addressing these remarks to the Washington Post today.

  18. Sav says:

Alphie’s right. Let’s have an investigation about pre-war intelligence on Iraq. Bring in all former Clinton officials and intelligence analysts to tell us why they came to the same conclusion as Adolph Bush. Perhaps it was one of those combo conspiracies where members of two different political parties unite to take over the world.
