Breaking: Goldstein Return Imminent? [Dan Collins; UPDATED]

[Insert Dancing Armadillo Here]

Today a commenter on Jeff Goldstein’s blog, Protein Wisdom, representing himself as ”Jeff Goldstein,” galvanized Jeff Goldstein’s following at Protein Wisdom, his blog, by claiming that Goldstein would probably soon return to full blogging after a somewhat lengthy hiatus.

Regular commenters and sometime guest bloggers at Jeff Goldstein’s site, Protein Wisdom, were ecstatic.  Goldstein haters–not so much.  Some of the reactions were:

UPDATE: More signs and portents.

As imminent as the death of a Supreme Ayatollah?  Or as imminent as a crisis?  Updates forthcoming.

Well, as probably the first non-Jeff Goldstein to be quoted in this piece, I feel it is very important to note that I like quesadillas with Trader Joe’s Salsa Especial.  That’s one damn good salsa.

  2. Dan Collins says:

    Amen, jon.

  3. Darleen says:

    Yea, Jeff!

I’ll run a quick vacuum around the place and Dan can scatter a few red pills behind the cushions so it feels all homey again.

    Nothing we haven’t heard before.

  5. Dan Collins says:

    Dark matter mapped:

“Now that we have begun to map out where dark matter is, the next challenge is to determine what it is, and specifically its relationship to normal matter,” Dr Massey said. “We have answered the first question about where the dark matter it, but the ultimate goal will be to determine what it is.”

Various experiments on Earth are under way to try to find out what dark matter is made of. One theory is that it is composed of mysterious sub-atomic particles that are difficult to detect because they do not interact with ordinary matter and so cannot be picked up and identified by conventional scientific instruments. Comparing the maps of visible matter and dark matter have already pointed to anomalies that could prove critical to the understanding of what constitutes dark matter.

    Coincidence?  I think not.

    MEeyore’s got a point, you know . . .

I can’t wait for the ‘Grand Re-Opening’ open bar reception!

  8. frothing insinuations â„¢ for everyone!!!

  9. Additional Blond Agent says:

I’ll go bust a few liquor bottles for that added special touch.  And scatter a few pizza crusts and Pabst cans…

  10. Muslihoon says:

Ooooooh. Just when I decided to resume commenting here.

I look forward to Goldstein’s imminent return. Then all I need to wait for is for a certain someone else to return, although that return might be a but more dramatic but much-awaited nonetheless. (And both these men are Jews!)

You guest posters have been doing a great job, though.

*scatters some words that elicit strong irrational reactions, like “niggardly”*

BTW: I have decided to join the cabal of “academics” outside of academia. I’ve never even gone to grad school, and I likely won’t. Unlike the inimitable Goldstein, I have made this decision to chase after Mammon instead of doing something useful like raising a child. I love learning and research: which is why ultimately academia would be the worst place for me.

I look forward to quoting you again copiously, Jeff.

  11. furriskey says:

My God, first Scott then Jeff: 2007 is looking quite promising for the irreverent.

    However.

I need some sort of proof that this Goldstein exists.

Nothing “arbitrary’, like a post, either. Something tangible and convincing.

A dancing armadillo would probably do it.

  12. Pablo says:

I hope he picked up some Funyuns. And some bourbon.

  13. I think all of us guest-bloggers should suddenly go dark, just to prompt things along.  Wouldn’t want to be enablers of Jeff staying in the *brrr* hammock, now would we?

  14. BJTexs says:

    <blockquote>frothing insinuations â„¢ for everyone!!!

Maggies, Geezer and I thank you for your use of the trademark and are actively looking for investors.

Perhaps we can persuade Jeff to make that drink the official mixed cocktail of PW!

Or, perhaps, he will tell us to get bent … probably …

  15. McGehee says:

I think all of us guest-bloggers should suddenly go dark, just to prompt things along.

I tried that weeks ago, and it didn’t work.

Maybe if I’d gotten the rest of you to go along…?

  16. A fine scotch says:

Oh, man.  Goldstein’s coming back, and we still don’t have the balloon fence up!

How are we going to defend against the slings and arrows of the left without a balloon fence, people?

  17. Rightwingsparkle says:

Oh goody! Maybe I can start commenting here again since a certain **** is in Iraq and will leave me alone.

  18. mojo says:

    Goldstein returns?

Shee-it. He still owes you money, fool!

  19. Dan Collins says:

RWS, welcome back.  How are things?

  20. Rightwingsparkle says:

Things are good. Busy, but good.

    Thanks for asking! grin

  21. TODD says:

Goldstein coming back?  I think not, I’ve seen this ploy before. A rumor of the second coming to boost readership I suppose. Damn you Goldstein! First you hold back on the GODDAMN PIE, now this?  How long must we suffer?

  22. Timmer says:

Yeah, sure, and Guns and Roses’ new album is coming out any time now.

  23. Timmer says:

Yeah, sure, and Guns ‘n’ Roses’ new album will be out any day now.

  24. Rob B. says:

However it might be a sign of increased commercialization that it has now been reported as the “Return of the Goldstein” as opposed to it’s original title “Revenge of the Goldstein.”

    I’m expecting jewish ewoks

  25. McGehee says:

    That’s “ewokim,” Gentile.

(Hey, if I’m a “neocon,” I must be Jewish, right?)

  26. Austin Mike says:

Now that I think about it, this new “Goldstein to post” thing is every bit as much fun as was waiting for the ‘dillo to dance on Fridays.
