A Navy SEAL sacrificed his life to save his comrades by throwing himself on top of a grenade Iraqi insurgents tossed into their sniper hideout, fellow members of the elite force said. […] “He never took his eye off the grenade, his only movement was down toward it,” said a 28-year-old lieutenant who sustained shrapnel wounds to both legs that day. “He undoubtedly saved mine and the other SEALs’ lives, and we owe him.”
Team blogger “Froggy” at Blackfive has a personal take.
If we fail in Iraq, it won’t be because we’re not sending our best.

This man was an angel. He was a work of art. God bless him.
Snark does not work here. I got nothing.
TW:miles. as in; This man was miles above me.
“No greater love . . . .”
Years ago someone wrote of a sacrifice like this and asked, “Where do we find such people?”
My reply on my blog was, “America.”
Which is why I want to reflexively bitch-slap those who reserve the “best and brightest” accolades for their fellow ivy-league pacifists.
The real best and brightest will be found bone-tired and beat-to-hell at Fort Bragg, Fort Benning, Coronado, and Little Creek.
God Bless them all.
