Now that Darleen has shown that we can embed video at the site, I thought it time for a few more musical moments I have come across at my regular gig for Claude Pate:
The Kinks play “You Really Got Me” and “Tired Of Waiting For YOU” at the 1965 NME Pollwinners Concert. Some of the musicianship is lacking, as the band probably couldn’t hear itself. But watching Dave Davies invent being a guitar god is worth it.
But wait, there’s more…
Brendan Benson: Some of you may have heard “Steady As She Goes” on the radio and heard Jack White singing it, but the song was mostly written by his new Raconteurs bandmate who knows how to crank out pop gems like “Tiny Spark,” which would have hit big on 70s AM radio. His “Spit It Out” is in the same vein.
Johnny & June Carter Cash play “Jackson.” If you’ve seen Walk the Line, see the real deal.
Broken Social Scene: This loose-kint band has a rotating cast of over a dozen members. The video for “7/4 Shoreline” isolates some of them and lets frontman Kevin Drew build tension with the lovely and talented Leslie Feist (who is also having solo success with songs like “Mushaboom.”
Badfinger: In a prior post, I mistakenly credited Harry Nilson with writing “Without You,” so I offer this clip of the lads playing “No Matter What” on Britain’s Top of the Pops, which properly credits them.
Prior entries in the series: Parts One, Two, Three, and Four.

And in this post you misspelled “Nilsson”, so post yet more great videos to make up for it!
I had no idea that Sylvester Stallone played bass with the Kinks……
yes, yes, but didn’t McCartney write “No Matter What”?
I know the finger were his protégés, and I’m sure he wrote at least one of their biggest hits.
you’re all gonna hate me for this, but…
more classic Paul and if you don’t like this stuff, you just aren’t listening.
or, you could just skip it.
McCartney wrote “Come And Get It,” for The Magic Christian sdtk. “No Matter What” was written by Badfinger’s Pete Ham.
BTW, y’all try some of that new-fangled music. Leslie Feist has some charisma in that BSS clip.
…and “Jet” was on my Summer mix CDs.
If you scroll throught this entry at Pate, you’ll find links to video of Americans trespassing on Sir Paul’s estate.
No offense but…am I the only one that doesn’t give a rat’s ass about this kind of shit? I blew out an eardrum listening to Lola but I was seventeen at the time. It’s almost as if I outgrew it…
I keep searching for a hippy-chick on match.com that says “I hate music”, but they all fucking ”love music”.
Hurumph.
No, I don’t think you’re the only one. However:
More for me then.
June was something else. Those two made a good pair.
