Chris Matthews begs the paleocons to take back the GOP.
Which—while unbelievably stupid—is only fair, I guess, because we pro-Bush Doctrine “conservatives” wouldn’t mind it if the Scoop Jackson Democrats took back their party.
Of course, this has nothing to do with the far left and the far right reaching a kind of ideological common ground, even if their routes getting there are often quite different and seemingly incongruous.
Because that’s just crazy talk.

Jeff, I came up with a theme song for the Democrats attempt to take over Congress this year, and the outstanding support they are getting from DU and the Kossacks:
“Deck the Halls with Howls of Folly”
Upbeat, holidayish, yet conveying the barking moonbat attributes that the reactionary left is manifesting more and more.
Whadda ya think?
Heh!
That’s perfect.
ladies and gentlemen, I give you Pat Buchanan-the man the democrats beat the republican part over the head with for the 90s’ for being reactionary nativists with no heart for the common folk. Please Pat, when will you return to make republicans unelectable again?
A desire to return to the good old days when the Democrats had all of the ideas and relevancy and the Republicans didn’t, back to a time when life was easier and you had Joe McCarthy to beat up on.
A happier, simpler time.
SGiC,
They want paleo-con antisemitic Buchananites running the GOP so they can deflect attention from the rabid Judenhaas in their own “netroots” base.
A rather crude attempt on their part, I might add.
Deck the Halls with Howls of Folly
Fa la la la la – la la la la
Pal – e – o’s and Dems like Molly
Fa la la la la – la la la la
Cut and run, we’re just insa-ane
Fa la la la la la – la la la
Then throw Isr’el under the train
THEN WE’LL BUILD A WALL—AND BEAT OUR BRAINS!!!!!
What a bunch of maroons.
I’m convinced you are psychic.
Or maybe you are Chris Matthews, I mean, who can tell? JG, master of disguise.
TW: trade. With that mustache? Rough.
He’s noticing what a boon it’s been for the GOP, having Howlin’ Howard Dean and the Nedroots running the Democrats. Undoubtedly he figures if his party could let that happen, the GOP might too.
Memo to Chris Matthews: The Stupid Party™ may be stupid, but it ain’t crazy.
I’m trying to figure out why Chris Mathews isn’t on the E channel instead.
Wasn’t Crazy Talk a character on the Simpsons?
Trade Monkey – yes. He soldfireworks to Bart.
Chris Matthews is still on TV? Who knew?
It’s amazing where some gratutious Bush-bashing disguised as anti-war talk will get you these days. Pat was completely radioactive to the Left until he went John Birch on Bush and the NeoCons. Then all was forgiven.
I thought that was a bad idea. It was good to bring him out and say heres what conservative republican pat buchanan has to say.
So most Republicans call out Buchanan as extreme and isolationist and renounce any association with him. Dems have lately painted him as a classic/respected Republican for their own cynical purposes of a)linking him to the mainstream of a party that disowned him and b)using him as an example to parade in front of their own voters of how “out of step” Bush has become with his own supposed base. Buchanan only gets play nowadays from cynical Dems and media manipulators who are using him to score anti-war points.
Meanwhile Zel Miller and Joe Lieberman are attacked and disowned by Democrats for supporting a strong and vigorous offensive policy against terrorists. But Republicans openly welcome their support in this area and politely disagree and debate differences over other issues. These senators get play from appreciative Republicans and conservative media because of their shared stance on defense and as an illustration that partisanship stops at the water’s edge.
Have an Islamist problem? Feeling fearful, frustrated and impatient and know the funk could drag on for years? Then why stay focused over war with a virulent political movement and soul-crushing ideology when you can get exercized over Economism and Environmentalism, instead?
Just take your eye off the ball, ladies and gents, it’s so easy to do! On the far right, we offer you Buchanan’s Latino Reconquistadores, albatross Israel, Skull and Bones Bush, this war is wrong, and endangered civil liberties. And on the left, Al’s Eco-Apocalypse Now, Nazi Israel, Bushitler, all war is bad, and crushed civil liberties are yours for the taking. Take your pick of diversion and enemies, but remember to blame Bush for everything all the time and you’ll be feeling so much smarter and stronger right away.
Just think, if we alienate most of the western hemisphere, obsess over weather, and teach the GOP a lesson this fall that we’ll never forget, the Islamist problem and Iranian nukes won’t be so scary, anymore. Because when Hillary is Prez and Bill SecGen, the Caliphate will start looking pretty damn good.
T/W children, do it for them
My only question is does this this also make Lenora Fulani an old-school conservative?
Last I heard, Pat Buchanan had taken over Perot’s Reform Party and run it into the ground.
Which is about what he’d do if he ever got his mitts on the GOP.
Proggs who call Buchanan a Republican ought to be cockslapped on national TV.
I can’t wit for Chrissy’s next segement: a nice sit-down with David Duke.
They cannot afford the lose of ad revenue or ratings
Are you volunteering to be the cockslapper, McGehee? If so, are you in shape for such an event? You might want to up your training.
Missing: Political Party… two actually… alert the media if you see them as they have been lost and wandering all on their lonesome for quite some time.
The Jacksonians aren’t headed back. The party clearly told them that the war that they had been sold by two Democratic Leaders was useless and that we really weren’t needed anymore as the world had left us behind… then they proceeded to call in the lefties, read out the Jacksonians and dishonorably leave an Ally to die.
Unforgivable.
Walked out on the Dems and politics as a whole. Look at the voting shifts… it is not from Dem to Repub… but people walking out disproportionately on the Dems. That loses you the majority without shifting the Nation from one party to another. The number that don’t vote? Around 42% or so. Take away the permanently disaffected at 5-10% and the *rest* are those that see no value in a two-party system that is turning into a Zero Party System.
The only way to come to terms with this personally was to form my Party of One. Because no party stands for those things I hold dear. Liberal/Conservative, Democrat/Republican, Left/Right, Pro/Anti, Coke/Pepsi… that is killing the Nation. Hardening positions into diametrically opposed ones leaves no space for other approaches and requires that you be either/or… Somehow that has just led to lots of screaming, shouting, raised blood pressure and stasis in the Nation.
Yes, that wonderful idea of thesis/antithesis leading to synthesis does not work nor yield results when sides are so dug in they will not budge. Thank you, political activists, for your hard work in doing that and so dividing the Nation that it cannot stand.
Welcome to the United States…. of Titanic.
A jacksonian
I don’t think we’ve quite hardened into coke/pepsi, hard black and white just yet. While the democrats are purging Lieberman for differing on one issue (granted its the one their betting their political lives on..) The Republican party has found room for Rudy, Ahnold, Bush and can still make room for some less isolationist traditional conservatives.
The party with the big tent is the republicans, right now. Allowing a diversity of views on even important issues, but getting together on the big picture. That’s what both parties used to be. The democratic left has gotten full of itself in the echo chamber of the internet and old media. They’ve mistaken loudness for popularity.
It’s starting to look more like the 1930’s, when Germany could still have been knocked off over a long weekend and Germany’s rearming could have been nipped in the bud.
A nuclear Iran could match the Blitzkrieg in ferocity and short-term destructiveness. I’m happy to have disagreements over school choice and national health care, as long as we can act remotely unified on foreign policy.
In it’s purge of those who disagree with the anti-war left, the democrats are coming dangerously close to becoming the Neville Chamberlains of the 21st century.
Victor Davis Hanson….that dynamo of democracy and western excellence, has pronounced it as “nuke u lar” many, many times.
Why then, must we be stuck with this sort of Ren n’ Stimpy idiocy?…

I say bomb ‘em with Mars bars and Tofurky. That’s going to bring the parties together, with Dennis “TofuPup” Kucinich as our Philosopher-King.
TW “some” That’s some mojito I done had.
Can’t. It’s registered as a deadly weapon in four states.
I’m thinking we’d need a platoon or a battalion of volunteers anyway. There’s only so many patchouli-encrusted faces one man can cockslap before permanent damage begins to set in.
On the cock, that is.
I’ve always thought you were infectious.
Absolutely true. I am anything but a conservative in most meanings of the word, don’t consider myself a Republican, have never voted Republican, but according to any Democratic/lefty website I post on I am a neo-con. Good thing I don’t worry about labels, I guess.
“Chris Matthews? I saw him on TV and he looked so alive.”
I think the proper response is what my dad, God bless him, said at mom’s funeral. “No, she looks dead.”
My tent is bigger than yours.
tom – When the Republicans can tell me what they stand for, beyond being elected, I will look at this ‘big tent’…
Democrats have one too, just a bunch of bouncers at the entrance and folks being tossed from it when they don’t like the nature of the party going on, and since they already yanked most folks’ tickets… well its an empty big tent with just a few drunks wandering around it.
McGehee—I think you’re confusing ‘shortarm’ with ‘sidearm’, son. It won’t impress the chicks to keep talking about your ‘snub-nosed hide-out piece.’
As evil pasty white zionist neocons, if we were doing this right, shouldn’t we be calling for the George Wallace Democrats to take back their party?
Then you won’t be able to volunteer as a cockslapper either.
“Sidearm”…? More like “middle leg.”
repeat after me,”This is my rifle, this is my gun. This ones for shooting democrats. This ones for fun.”
Got it?
I don’t see the distinction.

Ohhhhhh!
